Young lady, as a 70-year-old woman who grew up with all these songs, you have so much wonderful, beautiful music that you've never heard! My heart cries for you.
Hello Lila, how're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
Journey is a great American rock band formed in 1973 by former members of Santana, Steve Miller Band & Frumious Bandersnatch. Journey had their biggest commercial success between 78-87, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist. They had so many hits including "Who's Crying Now", "Still They Ride", "Wheel In The Sky", "Send Her My Love", "After The Fall", "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'", "Any Way You Want It" etc.
Takes me back 40 years. I saw them on the Frontiers tour in summer of 1983. When the opening chords started, 20,000 lighters came out and everyone started singing along.
yep, those were the GOOD old days, for sure.and nobody can sing like Steve Perry, IMO..WHAT IF Steve Perry married Stevie Nicks? wow, now that would be something, hu?LOL
very few male rock voices were wonderful- Steve perry, Peter Cetera of Chicago, Lou Gramm of Foreigner, Freddie Mercury of Queen, Dennis DeSilva of Styx, and Brad Delp of Boston.
Yes! I was fortunate to see them in concert in early 1978 inside an old Bakersfield movie theatre. They were just getting popular and so they were still performing in small venues. Walked right up to the stage, stood with 10 ft of them during the concert. They were phenomenal! Steve Perry’s voice sounded just like the record/8 track that we listened too. I will never forgive myself for leaving my camera in the van. Tried to go out but they said no returning inside once we left.
This was the song that my late husband and I danced to at our wedding. Told our story of being apart for a year, reuniting, and getting to know each other all over again. Cry every time I hear it.
I'm 66. The Eagles are my favorite band but Steve Perry, IMHO, is the greatest voice of rock and roll - ever. I never tire of that voice, and it never fails to give me chills. My husband and I saw him in concert in Denver, CO in the 90's. Just Steve. My favorite concert experience ever- even without Journey songs. Thanks for the sweet memory. Lovely reaction video.
I think Steve Perry has one of the best voices ever! Great singer. I'm so pleased to see that a young person like yourself is so passionate about 70's rock'n roll, I grew up in that era spent my teen years listening to this type of music, I love it, thank you.
I feel bad for so many that can only enjoy Journey through videos. I was so very lucky to see this tour in 1983, the Escape Tour in 1981 and Raised on Radio in 1985. I am truly lucky to have witnessed the brilliance that was JOURNEY!
❤ I grew up as a teenager listening to Journey..the ultimate band. And this is the first time watching you Sarah..you are so soft and beautiful..you show how genuine your reactions are to the song. True appreciation ❤
I was in high school when this song came out, it was HUGELY popular. It still touches my heart the same way. It was released on April 16th, 1983, so it’s just over 40 years old but just as relevant now as it was then. (Incidentally, my Toy Rat Terrier’s birthday is April 16, he just turned 12 yrs old) Sorry, I had to share that too. ❤ I’m always happy to either share the music I love or see people, emotionally connecting/touched by the music/musicians I love. Your reaction made me a little teary as it was genuine and just so honest and sweet. Thank you for sharing this. ❤ (Now I need to watch everything else you’ve posted!) 😊
@1:10 I was in the U.S. Navy when this song was huge, every time we heard it in a bar in PI, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, or wherever, we would all change the lyrics "Loving a Navy Man ain't all what its suppose to be," as we sang along. Then we would just sit there and get a little sad as we missed ours. I did in fact find joy in rediscovering my beautiful wife after each long deployment. She has faithfully stood by me for the last 39yrs and has been both the light and rock of my life and family. Never forget those who have also sacrificed so much as they stay home and do it all alone. This is a powerful love song for sure.
I grew up on Journey. Steve Perry, the lead singer, is one of the finest voices of 80's rock. I still get chills when I hear his voice. I love the Original band's music.
When you have that one special person that is right next to your heart this song brings you to beautiful places and will always make your eyes leak lol ❤
One of music's "greatest magics" is when the "lyrics match the music" & vice-versa. The singing voices of Perry's vocal & Neil's guitar would "converse" & "hand off" to each other so seamlessly. Neil could "play Steve's voice" & Steve could "sing Neil's guitar".... Page & Plant did that a lot, too... but even as a huge Zep fan, I must graciously & freely concede that Perry & Schon were the Platinum Standard. I'm grateful for all your work, guys- thanks for giving us a tiny taste of the Music of Heaven. 🙏
Journey with the lead singer Steve Perry A.K.A. "The Voice" is the only way to go. I recommend anything from their live in Houston 81 tour as they are best Live! "Mother, Father" is one of Steve's best live vocal performances ever, also "Open Arms" you will be blown away.
Journey was absolutely amazing in concert. I'm blessed to have seen them. Steve Perry has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. This song has always been my favorite and makes me cry every time I hear it. I wish I'd had a man that was so faithful.
To me Steve Perry is a live legend, he made Journey, and its legacy which has deep roots of unforgettable memories for generations. As of today, my children (13 and 10) stick with me listening Journey’s greatest hits. Steve Perry vocal capabilities is beyond the high standard in the music industry!! In my opinion of course, Perry stands head to head and toe to toe with another great rock legend who’s left us a while ago Freddie Mercury!! Pass it on guys…, and if you ever have a chance to bump Perry around, let him know how much we appreciate everything he did for the love of his music, his passion, interpretation, and of course his charism. His legacy will go on! Peace!!!
This is my favorite band of all time. Steve Perry has an amazing voice, none like him. I was fortunate to see Journey in 1980 as a teenage girl, and there is no one who can out sing Steve Perry. And I still enjoy his music til this day. Thank you for your genuine emotion, Sarah. You need to listen to Open Arms or When You Love a Woman. You will surely cry.
Glorious ... that word says it all. Keyboardist Jonathan Cain wrote that song in 30 minutes. Can you imagine being the person that inspired such a great song?
This was my our wedding song with my wife of 30 years now! We danced to it at our Daughters wedding last fall a few days after our Anniversary! Steve Perry is just the best ever!!
I grew up listening to Journey. Steve Perry's voice is a once in a lifetime voice. I saw them 4 times in the 80s. Steve's voice was just as good, if not better live. I loved your reaction. Good music brings out the emotions.❤️
Steve Perry 💙 His vocals are spot on every single time. He so seamlessly goes from one range to another effortlessly!! I feel pure love, comfort and safe when I listen to him sing Faithfully. And I too cry . You are a sweetheart and I am so happy you truly felt the song 💝. Blessings to you 💝💝
Steve Perry was magical and Journey was huge when I was in high school 1984! I will never forget when Steve came into to hour club called Catch 21 on Ventura BLVD. We had a Reggie Night there weekly and when Steve walked in we talked him into singing a couple of songs and he did! I will never forget how great of a singer he was and also how many people came rushing over to the club when they found out he was there! Night to remember ✌🏻
I'm a cargo pilot gone 16 days a month and this song has always resonated with me in my family life. it is so tough but i get to go home to my wife and family when it is finally time
It was a great song and in the times of when great love was around ..the 70`s and 80`s. I still play it when I see it. There is not much love like there use to be back then..wish it came back into society.
Yes! Steve Perry's voice was absolutely amazing! The people back in the days had true raw talent! The singers today can sing, but the ones back than could SANG!😊😊😊😊

Hi Ms. Sarah, Journey is Great with Great Songs.. Mr. Steve Perry is the Greatest Rock Voice ever.. Add Mr. Steve's solo "Foolish Heart" to Commenter Dagmar S list.. ♠W.G.
My sentiments exactly honey. When I hear that song and his voice, I am emotionally sent over the top. When Journey signed on Steve Perry that is when the band became a household name.
One of a handful of rock ballads that I remember exactly where I was when I first heard it. I was blown away. A true classic from an exceptional band, and Steve Perry with the perfect voice.
This song and Send Her My Love by Journey are my favorite two songs. Make sure to check it out, its official (music video) version is the best, it has something..haunting in the voice
This was the last song I ever played at a radio station in 2000 before I took a new job. I dedicated it on-air to my soon-to-be wife. We later brought three beautiful children into the world before I messed up royally and we got divorced. This song reminds me of what I had, and what I lost. It is, hands down, the most bittersweet song I will ever hear.
You explain so well and I just adore your reactions. Thank you for your honesty and you have a wonderful heart. And journey always does the same thing for me, and so happy to share it together with you
They didn't call them a "Super-Group" for nothing !! These guys were/are the best of the best!! I just wish they could've stayed together, and not let money, control, and jealousy ruin one of the greatest bands to ever stand on a stage..... I'll always love their music !!
I feel you! I've ALWAYS loved this song! I was around when it came out. There's so many more from Journey! There's some from Steve Perry by himself. Try those out. ❤️

I'm a 57 yr old 6ft tall bald ass man and I still tear up listening to this song. Steve Perry's voice is one in a million.

Same here bruh. Except I'm not 6' tall.
The toughest man is also the most emotional man.
66 yr old, 6'2", with graying hair. I don't tear up, but it takes me back to my simpler life when this song was released.

This song has been the anthem for many of us military who had been deployed, leaving their loved ones whether for weeks, months, or years.
So true, when I was stationed in Japan in the 80's we all listened and loved this song.
we played it even in 2003 when we first deployed to Iraq.
Thank you for your service!
God bless you all, and thank you.
When I was in the Navy, I used to sign my letters to my now wife: Forever yours, faithfully
One of rock's great voices - no question!
According to Rolling Stone magazine, Steve was voted the #1 most influential rock voice of all time.
