  • After 2 "near 50 win seasons", the Kings just added another layer to their attack with DeMar DeRozan... but does he fit next to Fox and Sabonis?

Demar DeRozan is the best midrange/post player in the league I think, and since he prefers 1v1s and is good in clutch time, he will share the load with DeAaron Fox, who is also one of the best clutch players in the league. And as it's suggested in the video, he fixes Kings' biggest flaws, and that is huge for a team that deserves to be in the playoffs every season with their rather young core. I really hope it works out for both sides and they can finally make a deep playoff run

One thing that nobody seems to be talking about in the "lack of fit" is that yes Fox and DeRozan are both heavier mid-range, but Fox is left handed to Demar's right. They operate mid-range and favor driving but to opposite sides a lot, so opponents cant really just clog up the mid-range since they will be on opposite sides of the basket constantly. Imagine clogging up the left middle to stop Fox and Sabonis sets an offball screen for Demar to drive/get free. Or even Sabonis helps Monk or Keegan get free on the Perimeter while Demar just keeps the defense honest on his side without even touching the ball

Yes, the Lyles over HB move is the other way we could have gotten at least a few more wins, imo (besides capitalizing on Keon). Playing HB an average of 3 more minutes than Monk, and failing to take advantage of Keon cost the playoffs, the way I see it.
It's not Huerter Keon should have taken minutes from, but Davion Mitchell. Mike Brown's reasoning for DNP'ing Keon so much was because Mitchell had "seniority". But if you want to win, you need to give those minutes to Keon instead of not playing him at all.

@@TheStarsShineForYou Earlier in the season, for sure take minutes away from Davion. Post All-Star break, Davion deserved his minutes. If I was Coach Brown, post All-Star break, the main four guards are Fox, Monk, Keon, and Davion. Sucks that Huerter was and still is the odd man out, but I have hope he can still contribute big time. Teams respect his shot even in cold stretches and though his on-ball defense is bad, his team defense is actually good.

good thing is he’s also closer to home, i have sacramento in the 5/6 seed esp. given the new emphasis on defence we saw thjs playoffs, hopefully it continues and rebounding and perimeter defense + good organised offense is more emphasised than chucking threes. which is perfect for the kings

Happy for vids like this, Demar gets so much disrespect. All because of raptors winning without him, but I’d say they could’ve won as well with him on the team and take away Lowry. Was just a lot of moves to focus on a star Kawai that carried them on a crazy run.

Thank you this is the best take I’ve seen. So many reports have been this is a non factor, bad defense, good offense, etc. which just shows people haven’t watched demar or the Kings play in two years. While I love HB as a Kings fan, he was the worst starter in the league and Demar coming in contributing on assists and rebounds will be a huge factor that HB did not do last year. There were so many games where HB would disappear and demar won’t have those games. He always is an impact player. Clear talent upgrade.

Even in videos, where creators are trying to give Fox credit for his defense… They still forget to mention, he led the league in steals, and was second or top five at least in deflections.

The weaknesses that the Kings had at the end of the season were largely a result of Huerter and Monk's injuries, as you stated. But once they get both of them back, those "weaknesses" will disappear. Additionally, maybe I missed something, but I don't see any real reason why the Kings would start Keon next season over Huerter. I think Keon is good, but I feel like relative to Huerter, a disproportionate amount of his value came from his overall energy/tenacity, something that waxes and wanes more often than solid offensive skill sets, the likes of which Huerter already has.
Anyways. I just disagreed with that one point, but other than that, I think DeRozan will indeed be a nice addition to this squad. Having said that, I think a top 5 offense will still be really hard to attain for this team.

Chicago Native and Life long Bulls Fan, good analysis, take care of DeMar. He is one of the League's Treasures. Our system was not built for DeMar at all, he was originally the Third Option behind Zach and our Off Ball Cutters. When Zo was healthy years ago. Our poor record does not reflect 'player skill' for anyone on the Bulls. We are in Rebuild Limbo. DeMar is a Much better fit in Sac. Sabonis is actually a sneaky mean pairing with DeMar. I'm a little jealous. That Hi-Lo Post.

Pretty sure that's the biggest player they've ever gotten to sign. I honestly can't remember a decent player that chose Sac since Vlade... and guys in their twilight like Vince or Rudy. To get a player of this caliber is very rare to me as a King's fan.
