    My daughter got a head injury a few months ago, a big cut on the top of her head. I packed it full of yarrow and the bleeding stopped immediately. Because it was a head injury and there where some other signs of possible concussion, we took he to the urgent care. None of the Drs or nurses knew what yarrow was and they were all amazed at how little blood she had! So they got a nice little home remedies and history lesson about yarrow and its role in past wars. She did end up getting three staples. No concussion praise the Lord!

    Since you mentioned psoriasis, I thought I'd tell you about what I am trying now that is working. I had head to toe psoriasis. It had recently gotten debilitating bc of an illness. It was bad. I'm talking about not wanting to live bad. Because of you and Stacey I decided to try a Castor Oil liver pack. I went with QOT. I'm on day 14 and I am almost completely clear! ❤

    Last summer one of my daughters miscarried at 12 weeks. The bleeding continued for over a week, and was very heavy. She asked me what herb[s) she should use to address the bleeding. I told her to use yarrow tincture, but I had just started my yarrow tincture only two weeks prior to the miscarriage, so I didn’t feel it would be strong enough yet. She managed to find a yarrow essential oil, which was ok’d as safe for human consumption. She put several drops into tea and drank it three times per day. The bleeding slowed dramatically on day 2, and completely stopped by day 4.

    last year we were forced out of our apartment because it sold. Not knowing where we would end up, a friend allowed us to garden on his property which is 132 acres with 12 cranberry bogs and ponds. In return I give him vegetables and help harvest his cranberries. Anyway, I found some Yarrow on the edge of the woods in part shade by one of the ponds. I dug some up and planted it in full sun around the garden (about 3 plants in 3 areas) and it looked liked it had died. To my surprise, it came back and had spread and I now have 3 huge patches of it which just started to bloom last week. We now live just 4 minutes from the garden and I walk the property daily finding all sorts of beneficial plants and trees.

    Who else automatically smiles back at Heidi at the end of each video? And periodically throughout the video as well!
    I have never used yarrow medicinally, but plan to. I used to have a nice patch of it in my garden, but has since been overtaken with other things. I'm hoping to start some seeds indoors for my herbs to plant outside this spring.
    I'm so looking forward to updated herbal videos. I really need to get my butt in gear and work on my herbal card file. (I've been busy with snow removal lately....great exercise by the way...)

    I added some flowers to my meal just last night! The bitterness of yarrow is easily masked, and it stimulates digestive enzymes. It was an experiment, but I'll definitely be doing it again in the future. I've become a yarrow junkie, drinking it, eating it, smoking it, and I'll be making a salve from it soon for wounds &c. Yarrow is the best! I just wish I had started harvesting it sooner.

    We spray the tincture of yarrow as a mosquito repellant. I've gargled with the tincture to get rid of strep throat. A diagnosed case went away in its first three days without antibiotics. It has an antibiotic property that works against strep bacteria. We also use it dried and ground as wound care, although I always prefer to use the tincture to prevent possible irritation to the wound by the dried bits. But where comfrey shouldn't be used with deep wounds, yarrow is perfect for healing in even deep wounds. Wonderful as an oil or salve as you say.

      Poultice. If using fresh leaves/flowers you can break it down by chewing it out using a mortar and pestle. If using dry mix a little water with it to create a paste.

    I use ground up yarrow as a styptic. Cutting the puppies nails is challenging because of the squirm factor and you cant get precise enough to avoid the quick. I gave soe to hubby for those shaving nicks but he is old fashioned and stull comes out of the bathroom with toilet tissue plastered on his face. 😂
    Teas and tea blends are my preference. I made a fever tea using borage, yarrow and peppermint. It was yummy and I believe it helped. If the fever broke on its own because it was time to happen, it was still yummy.😊

    When I was growing up, yarrow grew wild in the cattle pasture behind the house. I just thought it was a pretty flower!! Last summer was my first year growing it. Only a couple plants came up, but I got enough flowers and leaves to dehydrate. I'm currently infusing it into some oil to include in my anti-biotic ointment. I thought I would also make something for my husband, who is always nicking himself when shaving! I don't know exactly what to do there, whether an oil/salve, or if there is some way to make a dry bentonite clay-based product. But I did not know all of those things about yarrow! Wow! Thank you so much for telling us all that!❤

      It can take awhile for it to germinate but once you have it established it is pretty simple and you can even make starts from young shoots coming from the root in the following years. I always start such seeds indoors in small pots first so I can watch them closely

    Can you use the yarrow blossoms that have already started to dry up on the plant? Or do you only harvest the vibrant blossoms that aren't spent?

      They are likely not going to have as much benefits but the leaves should still be useful

    Would it help with neuropathy of the hands and feet?

      That would be something to look into.

      Barbara O'Neil recommends castor oil packs with cayenne pepper for neuropathy. I honestly believe this could help but you have to identify what the cause of and where the neuropathy originates from. If it is diabetic neuropathy then it is more localized to the site of the neuropathy because of poor circulation starving rhe nerves at the site. Castor oil with cayenne will help increase the circulation there and theoretically help the neuropathy. I happen to have a dead foot due to a messed up lower back that I had surgically repaired. I tried the packs on the foot but never noticed a difference. But I think my loss of nerve function originates from my lower back and is nerve damage there so I'm considering experimenting putting the packs on my back to help my foot. The way I figure, in this new journey into plant based healing, i am my best experimental subject. I hope this helps.

    Any color of yarrow? I have yellow, red, pink and fuschia colored yarrow but no white.

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  Před 25 dny

      White and some pale colors (light pink, light yellow) are the wild varieties meaning they are going to have more benefits than your cultivated darkly colored varieties. This does not mean they cannot be used though

    Does it have to be white Yarrow or can it be pink or yellow?

    • @RainCountryHomestead

      If they are very pale pink or yellow, they should be pretty much the same but if they are darker colors, they will still have medicinal benefits but likely not as much

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yes but the wild yarrow, which is usually white or very pale pink or yellow, is the most medicinal

    Is there an herb that dissolves scar tissue?

    • @GreenGranny
      @GreenGranny Před 6 měsíci +2

      Castor oil will remove scar but you have to daily rub it in. It does take time. Each case will be different depending how severe. It will work on deep bad scars too, not completely remove but greatly improve appearance. It won't work on stretch marks because that scar is formed from the under part of the skin, from within.

    I don’t heal quickly and often it gets inflamed before healing - from paper cuts on up! Made yarrow and goldenrod salve. I love it!!!! It heals it up right quick.
    And perfect timing with many cuts: abandoned kitten we found who now well fed & warm is a rambunctiousness playful rascal with her dagger claws. 🐾🩷🐾

    I found some in a field and transplanted it in my garden. I used it as a styptic when I'd trim my dogs nails. Black nails are so scary to trim!
