I know I'm supposed to ignore the comments, but sometimes one comes through that gets under your skin and you have to respond - this time it was a comment suggesting that featuring Andy on our channel is child abuse, and that we're exploiting him and autism for views and money. Obviously I disagree, but I felt it was important to explain why I disagree.

Wait, people think filming a person's life is child abuse??? As a survivor of ACTUAL child abuse that's. ..I have no words. I don't think pranking a vulnerable person is a good idea, adult or child. But I'm not sure I would say it's abuse...
I think you guys are doing a great job with Andy. There is maybe just that one or two meltdowns that were filmed , and I think that helps people understand autism more. Other than that, you don't film anything until after he is calmed from one. I think he really enjoys what you guys do. There will always be nasty trolls and also other people that think they know everything. Love your family!

lollujo Vlogs one of the days I was thinking about is when you calmed him after he left his thing on the bus. You didn't film until he was already in a good place. You do a great job.

The few meltdowns weâve put on the channel have been to illustrate points, not just to say âlook at this autistic person doing something autistic!â like a few other videos Iâve seen are.

I am so with Ana on this! People NEED to see what it is like with autism and getting help from others who have been in our situation. I would have never pushed so hard for an AAC device if it had not been for a channel I follow. And we are currently in the same position as you were with him not being in school. So, when I found your vlog, it's exactly what I thought...."There is someone going through what we are!"

What a horrible thing to say about putting a gun in his mouth. Some people are so cruel. I think you are doing amazing bringing such awareness to the problems of having an autism child. There is such a lack of help for families due to budget cuts and parents look for support from people such as yourself. Like you say it's very lonely being the parent of an autistic child and you provide such a good service highlighting issues that others can relate to. Am sure you are helping numerous families who are very grateful. Keep up the good work and ignore the haters. On another topic are you going to have a ehcp meeting with Andys school. Hi Kevin, sorry, another message in just two days, but I've just watched the vlog where you discuss the negative comments from some idiots...it's definitely NOT child abuse. You are raising awareness, many many people don't understand what ASD is and/or what it looks like. You, Andy and Anna are bravely showing the World the highs and lows of autism, keep up the good work and try to ignore the idiots and the ignorant, have a great day. Lindsay
Andy is well enough aware of being filmed, you are not sneaking about filming him in secret. He is aware that these films are on a public format on CZcams. He is quite capable of protest and chooses to not do so in relation to the filming and You Tube presentation of the films. That is about as close to a contract of acceptance as one can get. If he were to melt down or try and shield himself from the cameras gaze or came upon a video and started singing the no song then you would know that he does not care to be shown on video. I think many people do not give him and others on the spectrum quite as much credit as they deserve.

I am not a gamer, I subscribed for the autism vlogs and to see Andy. I am excited for when I start working at the school with children on the spectrum.

Kev keep doing what you are doing. I love your vlogs and people need to see the other sides of autism too. My mom tried to hide autism back when I was younger, she would not let others see the meltdowns that were happening daily in my house. Me and my twin are both on the spectrum, I use a AAC device and Iâm way better now that Iâm communicating better. I still have care staff daily and will be having care for probably a long time more. Andy is amazing and I like when he does the commentary on his DS.

I am a new subscriber to your channel, I joined because of the back to school autism meltdown vlog. You say it isn't an autism channel but it does and i'm thankful it does include Andy. I have an autistic grandson who is 8yrs old. He is having real issues at school at the moment. Seeing other families having similar problems helps me understand the situation much more, whilst it also confirms in my mind that we are not alone (or failing) with the challenges we all face.
It's sad to see Andy cant get along to well with Dave, our grandson has bonded with his pets (to be honest he much prefers animal company to human company) and the few horrible comments you mentioned make me think he is on to something in that thinking lol. I wish you and your family a successful CZcams future. Thank you for the much needed insight.

Been a long term follower, the vlogs recently have been top class, I never miss a day. A few months ago, as soon as I saw the thumbnail of you in front of a green screen i would skip through to see if anything else happened. Whereas now, youâve clearly really upped the quality. I have seen so many of your videos now I lost count of how many a while ago, I have seen Andy develop and become so much more independent. I can see that the reason for that is because while you are forcing it on him you are finding so many ways of helping him become independent and encouraging him. You are fantastic with Andy and I don't just mean you Kev I mean Anna Lucy and Amy as well. Having videos of Andy online is helping not only him but also other families. So don't worry you won't get any hate comments from me.
Andy should be a massive part of your life as he is a massive part of your family. He clearly loves you (and you him) which is a great credit to you both.
In terms of the question I feel the video in question shows other families that what they deal with is not unique to them

it is not child abuse i am 39 and when i was a kid autism was not talked about and thanks to people like you and also fatheringautism you both give a in sight into what daily life with autism is keep it up and in life we have sad people who like to make nasty comments to people i know you say you should ignore it but how can you when it is directed at someone you have brought up for five years and he is the son of someone you love there should be a way you can get these people prosecuted it is wrong what these people are doing we all love Andy he is brill i started watching in april and i loved Andy and the churches so keep it up and its nice we are seeing Andy grow as a child and i hope too see more and the girls even tho Lucy is getting to dislike the camera and Amy loves it

I don't comment very often, but I feel I should today given the small population of negative nellys that exist out there. I for one was totally ignorant about autism other than knowing it exists before these vlogs and now thanks to Kev, Anna and the rest of the family I've a much greater understanding of the impact it can have on a families quality of life and can't imaging what it must actually be like to live with. Thank you Andy for letting us into your world, I'm sure if you didn't want us to be part of it you would soon let mum and dad know.
Clearly the success of this channel is down to other people finding the subject as interesting as myself and people with autism/autism careers(excuse spelling if wrong) and I can only presume the naysayers are just ignorants who unlike us have closed minds and exist only to bring things down rather than learn from others expieriences.
Keep it going Andy, Kev, Anna and family and may the channel go from strength to strength.

Kev, I've been following you for a long time, this year you can see the huge change in Andy just from the vlog over the whole year. I know a lot of people who have just jumped in won't have seen how bad it was, but the vlog seems to be a massive part of his life and has helped him to cope with his daily life

Just watching the last bit of your vlog and there was an ad on this time đ I know what you mean about certain nasty comments. Someone anonymously posted that my son should be run over and killed by a big lorry and that made me cried for days. I actually reported it to the police as a hate crime but they couldn't trace it due to being anonymous. These people are cowards and wouldn't say things like that to your face

The vlogs are important in bringing awareness about Autism and that can only benefit Andy. I must say that you're doing better cooking meals than I am currently and I'm a stay at home mom/wife. I better get with it! I enjoy seeing what you're making, especially living in America, it's fun to see things that may be different and new. Great job and it's nice to see Andy doing so well!

I have autism and I think it's good for spreading awareness. Andy can communicate and would tell you perhaps in a different way to a NT if he didn't want to be on CZcams, the fact that it's helped him and others is amazing. People are just assholes and you should ignore them as best as you can.

Beckibuzz I find his videos very fascinating because there are just so many more levels to autism and parenting in general that I didn't know existed such as the fecal smearing episode. I didn't realize that wearing a diaper would irritate the children and that they often tend to tear them apart. It's just one more thing that they have to consider and deal with in every day life. Much respect.

Our son has really bonded with our cat. Might be an option you could explore but we got lucky because she just took to him as a kitten. We are working on training in a new kitten because his cat is a little bit fearful. We are hoping to get this kitten comfortable with going out and such.

Tbh these videos show me how different young people deal with autism. It educates other people who look at âautistic kidsâ as just a problem, and they are just messing around.

Some days I wonder why am I even alive Iâm a mess sometimes people call me a freak or if I have arguments with girls in my year they take the piss out of it. Itâs the only thing they take the mike of me. Your vlogs are amazing know I know how my mum thinks about autism. But the one thing I struggle with is keeping friendships and when every I have fall out and always go to my mum and ask for help.but she never got any help, with me or how autism works sheâs still struggles with me and I do have my ups and down

I think it is the opposite of child abuse, this is helping people understand autism and recognize when someone might be autistic. People that don't understand things will bully people they don't understand I think these videos are helping Andy so he won't be bullied as much

this morning my autistic nephew took me from the computer chair where I was sitting took me to the 2 seater sofa sat me down and crossed my legs for me I didn't fight him thanks to this channel educating me on what autism is in fact we all got a laugh from it and made him feel at ease but I guess everytime I'm in his house now this is what he will expect so I just need to remember the routine now

Yous are brillant parents and clearly this child is loved and well taken care of. People think because they are behind a keyboard they can say whatever mean and idiotic things but they would never say those things in real life.
As well the arm chair parents who have either
1. No children or 2. Do not have a child on the spectrum,
those folks need to sit down.
Unless you have spend 2 hours trying to find the correct position of a sock (that is clearly in the correct position of a sock) on a small childs foot whilst they are inconsolable ( my morningđ) then you shouldn't make judgey high horse comments.

Hi my friend has autism too and these videos have given me some tips on how to help him when he is in a meltdown or a âsituationâ and it really annoys me when people say mean things about the subject

I think it goes along the same lines of locking a child away in the attic because they have a physical deformity or a mental or neuro difference. That used to be acceptable. It was considered abusive to expose that child to the world and the world to that child. Same with institutionalization for reasons other than the persons own good and safety. I would be more concerned if there was a You Tube family who choose to never mention one of their children because of the child being some way. Pretending a child doesnt exist is more an issue. Like the child is some dirty little secret.

Sylvester he's answered this question a lot. It's not about getting him to GCSE standard it's about teaching him life skills and independence. Home schooling is less effective at this.

Amazing video's, I think Andy looks happy when he is on camera he seems to be comfortable with it, For those evil idiot throw backs that say crap like put a gun in his mouth they are truly a waste of life, They think they are being funny and only do it in the hope they get 10 seconds of fame, when really they are showing the world what evil, ignorant morons they are, My Nephew is Autistic and he is an absolute blessing in our lives, he teaches us just as much as we do him, he is funny and quirky and loving, and yes we do have the melt downs and the refusals to do things, and he does have terrible days but the good days out weigh the bad especially when he gives us one of his killer cute smiles, You are great parents and you should keep on doing what you do, Andy is a happy little boy and knows he is loved, Great work guys.

No no no no no. They do NAKED versions of a lot of them, including santa's Christmas, which means rather than coming in a bottle, the product itself is a solid version, and in a bottle shape. I bought it the other day.
