    If you have the Expert Sleepers ES3/6 you need also their Silent Way software to get the most from it. For example using the Silent Way DC plugin you can send MIDI CC to CV inputs on the modular without having to use Reaktor. Which means in theory you could automate CV changes on the modular from within the DAW. The Eurorack purists would hate that idea but I love it. 👍

      Yeh I need to try Silent Way. Given I already had Reaktor (and it is free) I thought I would see what I could do with it. I like the idea of using a blend of Reaktor and Eurorack.

      All you need is vcv not silent way.

    Great tip about Reaktor Blocks - I 'll have to fettle with it some as it keeps falling off of my radar. Cheers

    This was fun and useful! I’m currently building up my modular setup and after getting a Scarlett 18i20 to record all the audio, I’m looking into the ES-3 and ES-6 next for sending CV back and forth. I’m kinda going in the opposite direction though? Basically I want to use VCV rack to try out new modules before buying them!

      Definitely lots of fun that way round too - sending stuff to VCV Rack or Reaktor and then back into the modular gives you a lot of flexibility to combine the best of both worlds. Thanks for watching!

      Definitely interesting that such a hybrid workflow is possible! And the ES-3+ES-6 definitely seems more flexible and cheaper than doing the same thing with midi to CV + CV to midi modules! By the way, our setup is somewhat similar, I have a Crave too, but combine it with AE modular more often, because I often find that Eurorack exceeds the recommended +/-5V of the Crave. Are you aware of the AE modular stuff? They have some amazingly cheap modules that sound really good.

      I haven’t, I will have to take a look at them!

      @@StephenTallamyMusic Definitely worth checking out! It uses the volca style patch cables, so it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it saves tons of space and money in comparison to Eurorack. I basically have all my simple analog stuff in AE format and Eurorack for the more complex and digital stuff.

    Great video Stephen. Lucky you know what you are doing cos i haven't got a clue about modular. It was great to watch though! :)

      Really a lot of it I’m using like a guitar pedal board but with additional automation options

      @@StephenTallamyMusic Thats great. I just recently bought the Behringer Pro1 and it does have some modular jacks on it but i haven't looked into that part of it yet

    I have an ES-3/6 that I use with Bitwig - that looks like hard work in comparison

    Do i understand correctly that if you load music in WAV format into micro SD card in Disting mk4, it will be played at higher voltage so that other modules can feel melody? Or not?

    • @StephenTallamyMusic
      @StephenTallamyMusic  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes it will play back the WAV files at the standard Eurorack voltage levels.

    If you audio interface has DC-coupled output couldn't you do without the expert sleeper unit? I want to go from Logic to CV for controlling my Pulsar-23, so wondering if I can just use the Audiofuse Studio outputs directly... waiting on some cables to give it a try!

    • @StephenTallamyMusic
      @StephenTallamyMusic  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Let me know how you get on! You should be OK as long as you can get the levels right in and out of the DC coupled interface

  • @burakeren

    Hi. Did you had any issues with the DC offset? I'm planning to route my hardware synths to modular through my audio interface. they will not go to a DAW so filtering isnt seem to be possible..

    • @StephenTallamyMusic
      @StephenTallamyMusic  Před 2 lety

      No issues, just was a bit weird seeing the metering showing a level when there wasn’t anything. I’ve been doing the same thing as you are planning and it works good. I route a synth into the audio interface and have that route through the ADAT into and back out of the Modular.

      @@StephenTallamyMusic Thanks for the reply. I guess ill go with this combo rather than optx
