  • In this talk, Rutwik seeks to answer a big question. And the question is: do words matter? He speaks about the process of creativity, and shares his experiences, learnings and insights about writing & words, and the significance that they hold.
    Rutwik uses the power of stories and poems in order to engage with the audience. He addresses the question that most artists ponder over, and seeks to tell us why words matter. Rutwik Deshpande is an artist who works across different mediums in order to tell stories that matter.
    Rutwik Deshpande is a Spoken Word Poet, Theatre Artist and Filmmaker. He has won the poetry slam at IIT Bombay's Mood Indigo among a host of other slams. He has collaborated with some of the biggest poetry collectives all around the world like Button Poetry, Kommune, UnErase Poetry and Spill Poetry. He has performed at several festivals like Spoken Fest, Social Nation and Lil Flea. He has opened for The Local Train, and has conducted writing and performance workshops for hundreds of young writers. He has performed at the Thespo Festival multiple times at the Prithvi Theatre. His play Dum Biryani recently premiered at the Digital Theatre Festival. He has acted in sketch comedy videos with FilterCopy, along with many short films and music videos. He has also acted in a host of ads for brands like Tinder, Paytm, Vivo and Lakme. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
