My son got married in our backyard and had a rustic style wedding. We went to yard sales every weekend for months and bought stuff to decorate the yard. We bought burlap material and made table runners as an added layer and my husband cut down a pine tree and cut it into sections. We put a section on each table and placed a mason jar on top with dried hydrangeas in each jar. We lightly spray painted the flowers green which was the wedding colors (olive green). We also had an old bike and spray painted it olive green. My husband built an oblong wooden planter we filled with fresh flowers. He strapped it to the length of the bike onto the seat. We also tied a basket to the handlebars and filled with flowers. It turned out so pretty? Well worth the effort. We rented a tent and decorated it really pretty and rustic. Our family did all the work and saved a ton of money. We cooked bbq and all the fixings and set up a buffet. It all turned out so beautiful for a fraction of the cost! We had tons of compliments on the decor. My husband even built a dance floor from plywood which went along with the rustic style and we places white lights around the bottom of it all long the edge. It was all so beautiful! And very reasonable since we bought so much stuff from yard sales.

We had an outdoor wedding at a local park, which was very cost effective. Our decor was homemade, simple, pretty and most of it came from the Dollar tree. Lots of greenery and candles. We made all of the food, nothing fancy. We made two hams, two turkeys, baked beans, potato salad and pasta salad. The only things we paid someone else to do were the cake and the DJ. We did our whole wedding for less than $1000. We put all of our money into a FABULOUS honeymoon!

We just had an outdoor family wedding on a budget. I would suggest asking family & friends what supplies they have. We are lucky to have tables & chairs for 150 people, fabric tablecloths, drink containers etc. That saved a ton of money. The groom made pulled pork & the family provided the sides. We tried to make sides that were ok at room temperature. My cousin made a small wedding cake & cupcakes. That saved a ton. I would suggest having some other than family be a coordinator the day of, so you can enjoy the day & not be worried about all the other stuff. The most important thing to do is listen to the bride & groom & what they want and advocate for them. Trust me with family & friends helping out, there will be a ton of opinions!

One of our daughters and her husband chose an outdoor wedding on a chilly mid-October late afternoon. They had a hot drink bar of coffee, tea and hot chocolate set up for guests to enjoy a warm drink while waiting for the wedding to begin. Placing a few waste containers around is convenient when the guests need to dispose of their cups. The happy couple desired an outdoor dance floor as the evening went on after the reception meal. I thrifted throws, small blankets, shawls that were fresly laundered and placed nearby for guests to use as cover-ups as the chilly evening celebration progressed. All in all a great time was had by all even during a very chilly evening.

Okay, you wanted outdoor wedding tips. Well, this is just a wedding tip in general. When I was going to rent tablecloths for our son's wedding I found that buying them cost just a little more. (They are white) They then were used for our daughter's wedding and have since been used for other weddings, baby showers and dinners at church as well as birthday parties. Yes, you have to wash and iron them, but if cost is the issue it saves a lot over the long run. Also, on another note, with your large family you will never not have little ones around.🥰

My daughter got married on our property. It was on a hill so my husband cut logs to the height of the hill and since he's a mason we had lots of wood walkboards for scaffolding. He took those to make benches. I bought a large roll (150') of burlap off amazon for $50. I covered the boards with the burlap. We rented a tent for the reception. For the tablecovers I bought plain white sheets which worked great and was way cheaper than buying or renting actual table cloths. We picked wildflowers from our property for decorations. What was really beautiful is we hung hanging baskets of flowers with battery candles from the trees lining the dirt road up to the hillside. My husband built a stone fire pit and for a fun twist of lighting a unity candle they lit the bonfire....so much fun! We planned for rain...but it was beautiful, we planned for cold weather by renting a heater....it was 75°. What we didn't plan on initially was the bugs. I went out the day before and bought all the tiki torches they had left and the blessing was that they were metal with a pretty scrollwork pattern on them and they were on sale for $10 each. We live out East in a very woody area... Gnats and mosquitoes are bad in the fall.

During the renovation, we decided to keep the concrete floors. We knew that we were always going to have dogs and grandkids running around. It was a good choice! My son in law built the arches (beautiful large posts that they covered in flowers)that they we’re married under and the one my daughter walked through (white sheers were hung on that one) to walk down the aisle. He later made their bed headboard and footboard from that wood. A piece of the wood was used by his father to build the cradle for their sons. They bought the table cloths, built their dance floor and drink bar and other things and sold them after. Cost of wedding and reception was less than $5000 and they actually made most of that back reselling all the stuff that they had bought or made. We had a taco bar(their thing since college) with a queso fountain. All of this being said, make it personal. Don’t worry what the bridal magazines are doing. Think outside the box and enjoy the process. Blessings

We hosted our oldest son's wedding reception in our front yard. I recommend renting a white tent with removable sides that have windows and space heaters. Who knows what the weather will be like the day of the wedding. It could be wet, cold, or a sunny day without a cloud in the sky, hence no break from the heat and humidity. Our June event had all of those weather elements. We were not able to place the tent in the backyard because the stakes of the tent were three feet long and would have been driven into the leach field. We were able to set everything up the day before and zip up the sides to protect it from the elements and animals. You will also want to rent brand new porta potties. Some places even have white ones, all decked out for weddings on trailers. Renting a tent is cheaper because you can choose your own caterer versus a list from a venue. P.S. If you do nothing else, make sure your home owners insurance has an umbrella in case someone falls and gets hurt, etc. You never know when or if someone will need it for medical expenses. May God continue to bless your family!

I have a few money saving wedding tips!!
    - Most bridemaid dresses come in white/ivory! I bought a bridesmaid dress in white for about $250 for my wedding dress, and It fit my outdoor wedding perfectly and wasnt heavy or hot!
    - use local vendors vs chains! We tried out a new gelato serving thing for dessert and because we tried it out for them, they gave us all the gelato for free!
    - Its usually a lot cheaper to buy items and resell them after rather then rent them! if you need 200 chairs, buy they and then either resell or store them for the future
    - dont feel like you have to follow any traditions!! I hate cake, and we saved a lot of money not paying for a wedding cake, and instead spending more on great food.
    - Pick a few things that are super important (to us it was food quality and calm restaurant vibes) and find ways to save in other areas
    - I bought all my flowers used on a buy a trade website, I was the 5th wedding they were used in, and I know they were used a few times after I gave them away. It was my something old!

We did punches from fruit juices with ice blocks. Get the tubs from Tractor Supply for drinks, Iced Tea, and water bottles. Cakes were three layers and groom cake was cupcakes for his favorite team colors, outdoor sports like fishing and hunting. We made the Gazebo out of old Pallets for one wedding by the lake. This is all so exciting!! We will be building soon so you going through the whys of your choices is very helpful , especially the wear from a family . I agree with Solo on the sprinkler system ! We had a farm without it then moved to a country home with it and the kids played out on it FAR FAR more because it is so much softer on the feet ! It’s pretty but how the lawn felt was the biggest issue for us . An unwatered lawn gets so crunchy it hurts the feet and the thistles can take over very quickly because the softer green grass is not as hardy . Your wood choices and floor plan make a lot of sense , I like your bedroom designation thoughts ! Thank you for another great video ! 🌿👏😊

If so, when would they be due?

Lastly but certainly not least... Having the wedding there WOW 🤗. I totally understand that this will be such a private and special day for family and friends, but I so hope Judah and Katie will allow us a tiny glimpse into their special day 🙏. As for being nervous planning it, I would be too, but when you have such beautiful Nature for your surroundings, plenty of Ribbon and God's Blessing... I'm sure it will become a family tradition 🤗. Love to all and thanks for the updates as always x

My sister had an outdoor reception on our property this past summer.
We hired a huge marquee, as well as cool rooms, portable toilets and a drinks can. It was such a fun paddock party! The marquee came with a dance floor too :)
We had pizza delivered for dinner and made salads. Dessert was cupcakes made by a friend. We had lots of flowers and candles for decoration. We hired a lady from church to be the events manager for the night so that we could just enjoy the party 🎉

We got married outdoors in September at the church camp where we met and worked at. Our back up plan in case of rain was the screened in chapel but we didn't need it. We had 3 attendants each and the guys wore suits and I had dresses made for the gals that were something they could wear to church or any other occasion. My wedding dress was $50 from a resale shop and I loved it.
For decorations, we used fresh flowers in simple arrangements. We made an arched arbor to stand in front of for the ceremony and donated it to the camp for other weddings. Our budget was $1500 (1987) and I wouldn't change a thing. We still have people comment how much they loved our wedding.
    My advice: Keep it simple!
    Let God inspire you. 😊

I just finished a bathroom remodel and dreamt of beautiful gold fixtures, only to find that it meant matching faucets, pulls, knobs, light fixtures, mirrors, towel bars and door knobs…. Each item is made by a different company and each company uses a slightly different shade of gold. My husband and I joking called it 50 shades of gold.

I wanted real wood floors in our current home (remodeled, not newly built), but had several people convince me it was a bad idea. They scratch very easily and we'd be constantly fighting damage to our floors. Dogs running through the house and kids dropping things will cause the most damage. We have both kids and dogs. We decided to go the "cheaper" route of laminate floors and I'm so glad we did.

We did my daughter’s wedding in our yard. One of the things we did was rent executive bathrooms (aka fancy portable potties). It was a trailer that was pretty nice. I put trays in there with supplies for our guests, including a body spray in case they felt stinky or sweaty. We made benches for the wedding ceremony and then sold them for more than it cost to make them. We rented the tables and chairs for the reception. We spent the most on the photographer and DJ because they are the ones who keep the wedding moving. Oh and the flowers came from a grocery store floral department. Saved a LOT of money going that route. I’m sure whatever you do will be perfect.

And the kids got to keep money from the "wedding account" which helped them start their own household.

I have never hosted an outdoor wedding, but I have been to one. One of the smartest things they did was rent a couple of portable toilets and hand washing stations so that people did not have to go in the house to use the washroom. I assume you have already thought of this. Another thing that I think would be practical would be to use as much real florals (perennials) in pots so that after the wedding, and after the house is built, you can transfer those florals into your new garden. A bit more expensive up front but worth it in the long run. Then adopt that same mind set for everything else. Do they want an arbour? Get one that can transfer to your new garden later. Etc.

The house is coming together just fine. You know that Belle and Luka will keep those bedrooms/bathrooms clean (they want that peace). Tori getting her own room. I'm sure she is excited. I'm sure Noelle, Hope, Destiny and Peace will get the largest room. I am scared of fireplaces but with energy going up, I am thinking about opening it up (I had it closed). I know that I am going to need someone to check it out first. I'm really nervous about it but I will get past it. As for outdoor wedding tips, my cousin had an outdoor wedding. Her dad got porta potties because of the guest that were invited (they invited a lot of people). I was surprised that they were nice. He also decided to have barbeque, so he had grills (that he made) and created an area where the food would be prepared and stored safely. Her mom wanted to have shading, seating, etc., so she got tents and she created areas where people could sit out of the tents if the wanted. But the one thing that I notice was the game area for kids. They had a blast in that area. They also got flowers that were in season. They did everything themselves. They were stressed out. My cousin said that there were times she wished she had gone with a wedding planner to avoid the stress. However, she loved what she and her family were able to do. If you guys get a wedding planner, make sure that they do what you want and make them stick to a budget.

We had an outdoor wedding in August. August is the hottest month and we lived in South Texas at the time. I did supply thick paper fans with the our names on it for people. We had a gandalla for us and the minister. I would have liked to been able to afford tall canopies for the guests to sit under. Also we had a "rug" that was silk rolled out for me to walk on. The wind blew it away and it just was pointless. So when you decorate the "isle" to walk down outside use heavy pretty objects such as lanterns and bouquets with a weight. Basically make sure nothing can fly away and keep bugs out a much as possible. We also did a sunset wedding which can help to keep people more cool and can beautiful depending where you are marrying at.

Thank you so much for increasing awareness about water safety. In the US, drowning is the leading cause of death in children aged 1-4.
It is important to recognize that people drown silently. You won’t hear yell or thrashing. They are literally fight for their life and don’t have the breath to call for help.
Vigilance is crucial. Having a lot of people in and around the pool doesn’t increase safety unless there are designated “Water Watchers” Watching the water is ALL they do. They don’t read or scroll or catch up with friends. They watch the water. Rotating Water Watchers can assure that everyone has fun and stays alive. If a child has a submersion event and are symptomatic (vomiting, short of breath, coughing, lethargic) they should go the ER. These symptoms may occur hours after the submission.
Thank you for keeping kids safe!

That way I could be central, and unpacking my kitchen as they unloaded everything else. They could always find me, and I was ready to cook for my family. The rest of the stuff can be unpacked more slowly. Also, I have three sons. When the first married a former "mother of the groom" told me, "Your job is to wear beige and keep your mouth shut!" Goodness guys! A lot going on in your lives! Exciting tho! As far as the outdoor wedding, I know the main focus will be on the wedding it's self, but try to keep in mind the guest. You will need shelter, such as a outdoor tent large enough to shelter everyone in the event of rain, etc. There are companies you can lease the tents and tables and seating from and they generally set that up for you and take it down afterwards. Besure to have porta potties, you don't want guest running in and out of your home. If you plan on doing the food yourselves, try to set it up buffet style. The main thing is to simplify as much as you can. I've helped with many weddings and the biggest thing is time management. And this is more so, with doing as much ahead of time that you possibly can. If you are having a lot of guest, food prep will take a couple days to get done and orginized. Let as many friends and family that want to help, help. Deligate responsibilities and make sure you have someone over seeing the plan for the day. I just know from experience how hectic things can get. But with plenty of planning and prep, you guys will have a beautiful wedding to remember for a lifetime. By the way, I'm so excited to see your home coming together, it's looking amazing! ❤

Im sure it will be beautiful. Also if you go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's now they discount most wedding items after the big wedding month of June so you can get things for half off.

You have a large house = large roof surface. Have you thought of rain water harvesting? Some states have a rain harvesting program to prevent rainwater going in the road drains and flooding (erosion). Their maybe some agencies that can help you out there. Think, your pond is a rainwater cachement already. You just need a cleaner version. And if you continue the salt filtering for the pool, it should be OK since rain water has been already been distilled by nature.
