Disney Revival. Episode 1 - The Princess and the Frog

The Renaissance, the most successful period in Disney history ended in 1999. After that the studio was plunged into obscurity for the whole decade. In the 2000s Walt Disney Animation Studios had one box-office fail after another. Experiments with animation styles didn’t help as Disney was trying to figure out how to remain relevant in the completely new animation landscape. But in the late 2000s everything changed. With The Princess and the Frog in 2009, a new era of Disney animation started. Disney Revival brought popularity of the studio to new heights and financial success that Disney hadn’t experienced previously. In this series of video essays, I’m going to be exploring each and every movie released in the Disney Revival era. How they were written, produced, animated. What impact they had on animation and what controversies they were surrounded with. This is the Disney Revival series. Let’s get started.
