It's horrifyingly pathetic how they won't just take the L and say that they'll do better from here on out.
They claimed in a Facebook comment thread today that they’ve made some improvements over the past few months. It looks like some of them are shown in this video like the price lowering and third party controllers. I wish they’d make a video about it though and address it publicly instead of just silently doing it. It would make me gain a lot of respect for DKOldies

Here's the funny thing. The reason why DKOldies been able to basically get away with this so far, is because no one had dared open up the console they bought. And it wasn't until this year where people are actually checking their console to see if it's refurbished.
Who knows when they stopped cleaning?
@@johnsantos1692 chances are they possibly never really started and assume that no one would want to remove the sticker and open the inside of the console. Since it's likely they just see if the console is working properly and make the outside look clean.
DKOldies replied to me today when I questioned them about the tamper sticker claiming it’s just to identify their products and that it doesn’t void the warranty if you remove it. Guess they don’t remember that email they sent you stating the opposite.

Nah it was definitely to void warranty and the way you can tell is because if it was meant as a way to identify the consoles and not to void warranty then why do they put them over screw holes where they'll be removed
Also if they truly open every console why not put them on the inside if it's only to identify their products not only is it less likely to be removed but also proves they've been inside at some point (even if only to add the sticker)
They don't because they probably don't even open most consoles and the stickers won't stick to dust so they would have to clean at least some of it
@@Idlepit2 I will say. It's not bad to put them in the exact places they put the sticker. In fact it's smart business to be able to prove that someone indeed checked the console, because someone pulling a fast one on you wouldn't know about the sticker being there at all and you can just say "you didn't remove the sticker, you didn't open it."
HOWEVER. Big however. DKOldies was absolutely pushing it too far by trying to scare people with the warranty BS. You need to be honest and say the sticker is for identifying opened consoles, not some bullshit warranty you can't enforce.
What amazes me though is the fact they know exactly what places to put the sticker to prove if it was opened...when they clearly don't open it themselves to clean them.

I bought a ps4 from dkoldies this year and I opened it when I got it to make sure they were actually refurbishing the consoles and to my surprise I opened the top of it and there was dust everywhere

Love the video! When Joey said "crack cleaning team" what he meant was basically a professional cleaning team. The term "crack" that he used is derived from the old term "crackerjack". In olden times they would have said "crackerjack cleaning team".

I use to work for a logging equipment company based out of Canada. I worked at the one and only parts warehouse in the United States. The most orders we have ever shipped out in one day was about 160.
It’s interesting because they did another live unboxing and Joey was apparently taking a personal day. So he was probably told to take a day off after acting like that

eBay is honestly a great place to shop if you actually know what you’re doing. Even if you’re ripped off and demand a refund, eBay will always vouch for the buyer over the seller, every time. It’s their policy. If you look hard enough and are patient, you can get some good deals, too. DKOldies is just a total scam. It’s not even a gamble to shop with them. It’s guaranteed you will be ripped off lol

The thing is, what they're doing is by definition "false advertising" which is an illegal business practice. They're reputation is already screwed, but if they do admit to falsely claiming that they sell "fully refurbished, cleaned and tested" products, that'll not only get they're business shut down, but it'll also put several of they're employees in prison and the few that do manage to avoid jail time, will lose pretty much everything they have after getting their butts sued off.

I live in the EU and I work in the restaurant industry, but when the ownesrs etc. have to point out their positive reviews thats a sign of a resautrant that will be shut down and in a bad shape.
Obviously he's going to stick to his guns and support the company, he gets paid to do so and with everyone buying more and more because of the views you and Rich bring in, you guys are doing better marketing than they could ever pay for.

It’s like this episode from Kitchen Nightmares, the crazy Nino episode where Gordon goes to a dirty as hell restaurant and complains they won’t do anything about it. Nino proceeds to hand him pictures of him “cleaning” the whole restaurant while Gordon sits on its uncleaned chairs and goes like “I’ve never seen pictures of cleaning”. If it cleans in fact, you notice it.
I totally thought the exact same thing about the weird reviews. It seems they hardly take their console out of the box and say “Wow it looks brand new!”

DK Oldies has been bleeding hard, if you look at their social blade, there was a massive dip in views in February and March after all this hullabaloo.
I stopped getting them in my shorts feed, honestly. Very interesting.
My local game store, when they refurbish a system, they open it, check all caps and joints, clean the boards, drives, fans, and shell. They'll even change out things like trim or buttons to make it look as good as possible.

I heavily doubt they do ship out thousands of orders each day because from their videos, it seems like they are situated in a small location (like maybe a warehouse) and I just simply doubt they have enough stock in that place, wherever it is, to ship out 1000 orders a month, let alone a day

When you go on the image on dkoldies shop, newr the mouse when you go up on the image says clearly console with or without original controller, so is hilarious that they put the two picture with the description when you with the mouse over, but not the settings to choose what do you prefer

The problem and what allows for the disconnect where they claim to refurbish consoles and what customers are saying is that they consider "refurbished" to be, strictly, repairing anything broken and cleaning the exterior of the console. That's it. Everyone else thinks that refurbishing involves cleaning the interior of dust as well as changing thermal paste. In some cases it might involve changing capacitors.
If on their website they defined refurbished clearly and concisely with exactly what they currently do it'd still be fairly deceptive since I think generally people would assume cleaning the interior/thermal paste is part of "refurbishment" but they'd pretty much be in the clear with all of these criticisms. Instead it's vague to their own detriment and you have people constantly railing on them for what they think they should have done versus what they actually did. For the prices they charge I'm of the opinion every console should be opened up and fully cleaned, thermal paste replaced, etc but obviously that's not what they're doing or want to do.

Jacob R is pretty cool. I like his vids on the old consoles, where He checks the data on them and stuff like that. It does give a bit of history of each console, and the history of the person who played it in terms of the games they played, without revealing anything super personal. Those are fun to watch.
Like oh, this one is gamergirl 977 ps3. She must really liked Cod and tony hawk games. Must have been really into sports games to, because there are a bunch of sports saves on here lol. Those ones are my favorite ones for some reason. Might seem strange or wierd to some people, But I find it interesting. When he gets a console that hasn't been factory reset.

Funny thing is too that consoles weren't really dying 10-20 years ago as said at 3:40, because they were fairly new then (start of the 6th generation).
It's been a much bigger issue with the 7th generation of consoles because of the defectives of the 360/Ps3s chips.

It would be absolutely insane if that was a normally scheduled cleaning crew. That, if I had to guess would be a large group that they scheduled to actually refurbish all of the consoles they've had for a while to get them caught up for ACTUALLY refurbishing consoles as they receive them in store.
I did work experience in a small warehouse at my mums job, thousands is an exaggeration, 100 orders took me and the other guys half the day, 200 would've been all 8 hours, now that was just 3 people working, but the office space was about as big as dkoldies HQ. 1000 is genuinely bs on their end.

I actually had the same exact problem with a ps2 slim I got from a thrift store. I ended up returning it though since I didn’t wanna get into fixing it.

If they are really "refurbishing" all the systems then they should do a work stream of them doing that for a full work day. Show the customers look we open the consoles and this is our process. No harm in that.

just sad this stuff happens, i feel bad for anyone with ps2's i still have mine when it was new and today i just decided to take it apart (and was not fun to do) but the thermal pads on the chips/cpu couldn't be anymore rock solid, replaced those and put a new battery in when i was there cleaned it up checked caps. runs just fine and all it costed me was 2 hours of time.
