Two minutes to midnight refers to the doomsday clock. Which was created to show how close the world was to nuclear annihilation.

That line, Blood is freedom's stain, pulled out of the context of this song is a powerful line.. Fighting for freedom is real and it is a bloody battle. No doubt about it.

About the Cold War and war in general. The entire song is chock full of BARS.
"Blood is freedom's stain" . Damn

I've seen them many times in Los Angeles in including the night they filmed The Live After Death Tour at The Long Beach Arena. AC/DC is my favorite band but Iron Maiden killed it that night. I still have my intact - with a few holes - Concert Shirt from that night. Concert Video is called LIVE AFTER DEATH filmed over 4 nights in LA ( 3 original nights plus 1 added due to demand) Unfortunately, they cut out Dave Murray's solo which happened as a transition at the end of POWERSLAVE with the "EGYPTIAN" tuning still in effect and straight into The Star Spangled Banner (Fucking Crazy!) We Yankees lost our shit! Bruce kept telling us to "Scream for Me Long Beach"!!! and I did til I lost my voice!

Have my ticket to see Maiden next month - it'll be my third time and I can't wait. Best live band you're going to see anywhere. Fearless songwriters too!

  • @sumonjamal1653

'2 minutes to midnight' was written by vocalist Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden about the Cold War in the 80's between Western powers (NATO) and pro-Soviet powers (USSR) which resulted in the arms race and the potential for Nuclear War (Midnight refers to the 'Doomsday clock' which marked the possibility of annihilation by nuclear holocaust when the superpowers would drop nukes on each other).

Some great lines in this one - Blood is freedom's stain and We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies and To the tune of starving millions to make a better kind of gun. All are great lines describing war.

Biz as always a great reaction. I see the comments covered the context of the song. So from Iron Maiden check out some tunes from their Piece of Mind album. BUT, also check out Bruce Dickinsons solo work. It is fire. Start with the album Balls to Picasso. Try laughing in the hiding bush, 1000 points of light, or shoot all the clowns.

Maiden has so many incredible songs, that it would be almost impossible to recommend what you should react to. You should just do a track by track reaction, starting from the beginning. FUCKING MAIDEN!!!!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼I’d recommend “Powerslave” from this same album. I see yo7 already did Rime of the Ancient Mariner, or I’d have recommended that one first. Enjoy your Maiden journey, brother. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Please check out "Moonchild" next from Maiden. One of their most theatrical, epic songs, with very dark lyrics. One of my favorites!
