Lexus in 3 words: "Luxury That Lasts"
How about "rebadged Toyota" Because that's what they are, and why they last.
I wouldn't say all Lexus are Toyota's but I would say 95% of them are. And yes they do use a lot of Toyota parts
@@jonhettrick7969 Every Lexus has a Japanese counterpart, they are basically just rebadged. And Toyota's nicest car, the crown, has never been sold in the US under either brand

Scotty said Lexus high cost maintenance as they age in other vids. Maybe you can find one under 100,000 miles. Prices jacked up and you may end up buying someone else's problem when they are 150,000 plus.

I just bought a 2005 ES-330 with 50k original miles in black garnet for only $8,000. It had one original owner, an elderly woman that had used it for solely local driving. It needed new valve cover gaskets, grease on the timing belt, and an oil change but that was it. The car is incredibly clean and near mint. My mechanic went nuts when I showed it to him. It's the best car I've ever owned and I'm so grateful to have gotten it.

Interiors are the easiest thing to maintain. I have a 1991 Peugeot, car's been in more wrecks than I have fingers to count and yet the interior is on-par with this Lexus.
It’s particularly easy to maintain leather interiors. I use Connolly Hide Care, (aka Bentley and Rolls-Royce’s Hide Food) every three months. It must be stored inside because it’s natural and needs to be in a tempered environment. This product gives the scent that British cars are known for and it’s amazing.

I've had to drop around $2k in repairs in just 3 years on my 1998 V8 Lexus GS400. I bought it for $3k with 200k miles on it. AC doesn't work, heated seats don't work, but at least there is little rust (was well maintained), and the motor and trannie are going strong. Hoping nothing else breaks anytime soon and hoping to get 400k+ miles out of it.

I thought every single video Scotty ever made was subconsciously about why you should buy a Lexus/Toyota.
@Todd m the Tacoma and f150 are both good imo
He usually mentions his toyota celica every episode
Yeah my grandpa does the same too
That's because you SHOULD buy a Lexus! I bought a new one 3 yrs ago and, due to his advice and my experience, will always buy a used Lexus from now on.
@Todd m I'd never bought a Japanese car before now - only American & German. German cars are fabulous to drive, but they're bottomless pits when it comes to maintenance. My previous car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I loved it, but it has since become 6a "luxury SUV". For what it would've cost me to replace it, I could get a fully loaded Lexus RX 450h... so I did. I'm spoiled now! I'll probably never buy a new one again (per Scotty's advice), but I'm sold on Lexus. When I go to a Lexus dealership for service, I'm treated like royalty. In my 45 yrs of car ownership, no other dealership has ever treated me so amazingly well. I'm a Lexus owner for life!

Hey Scotty, don't take this personally but one of the reasons why Lexus went to the new grills is because of people in your age category. The brand was getting the reputation as an old man car. Lexus did the new grills to attract younger buyers. Lexus DID NOT want to end up like Buick and Volvo. Two car brands now known as old people cars.

Lucky you, Toyota V8’s are bulletproof, and the LS shits all over the crappy Mercedes “BS” class.
2006 LS430 myself with 116k. Couldn't agree more. My teenage kids give me crap about it being a grandma car, but nobody complains about the room, comfort, quiet and powerful a/c. My mechanic calls it a forever car, and I think he's right.
Scotty your a hidden gem bro the memes the info u give your attitude never quit
Thanks Scotty I did get a 2005 ES 330 and absolutely love it I did buy it after listening to you Thank you.!!!
Do u have problems with it shifting in the cold weather
Hi scotty. I know you hear this a ton but we love what you do! The information you graciously provide everyone is a blessing , and we are grateful for you! As a lexus fan myself I'm looking into buying my all time favorite model 2005 ls430 . Other than the starter being a pain in the butt to replace compared to other models, I was wondering what you think about the overall reliability of this one? Thankfully theres still a few for sale, some im considering are around 60k miles up to about 140k miles.
Really do! He’s part of the family.
My first car was a 92 LS400... It was great, expensive parts but she rode like a dream. Yes.
Bonerus Maximus that was a fast old car. And sharp looking too! That’s one of my favorite cars of all time

It had all the automatic and power options and functions that any other modern luxury car would have today.
4L. V8, RWD, sexy boxy/curvy sedan not too big not too small, what's not to love? Sure they had some problems, but those 90's LS400's will always hold true if taken care of.
I drive a '97 ES300
Still works great!
Same except mine is a 2000 model
I drive a 96 es300 and the check engine light comes on every 2k miles or so, luckily it turns itself off after a week.
hax0rz100 I used to have one. I had a 1999 from 2011-2015. Literally didn’t spend a penny on repairs. I only did oil changes and car was perfect the whole time.
99 best vehicle ive ever had
Keep it forever!
Awesome video! I am alot more confident in my 98' es300 now! I really love my car
How's the 98 running?
Scotty, do you have any tips on finding a good independent mechanic?
Thanks for another update, Scotty!! I just bought myself a 2005 Lexus ES 330 after watching your videos, and I love this car!! I'm never gonna listen to car journalists' recommendations any more because all they care about how "fun" it is to drive and the 0-60 times. They don't know/care about maintenance costs and reliability.
john jay they only give good marks for unnecessary tech and engine/transmission changes annually
Scotty is the best thing on CZcams. Regards from NZ Scotty.
SO NZ ! Canada here old son .

That's it. I'm buying a LEXUS!

I have a 2002 Lexus es300. Love it
Yes I got a used 2009 ES 350 its been going perfect for last 10 years! Your 2002 interior dash with real wood looks even better
I loved what you said about the new grill. You're channel is awesome and so are you.
Engineers: how reliable do you want it?
Toyoda: yes
Yup!
@the machinist Akio Toyoda...
@the machinist Toyoda is ORIGINAL founders last name. He only changed it to Toyota so American could pronounce it better.
Yessu!
@the machinist feel kinda stupid now huh?
I agree with scotty, I bought a 1998 lexus gs400 and with 220k miles it runs like it's still new and has amazing seats and I like the old look of the front grill more than the new lexus.
Thank you Scotty, you got me the final convincing points for me to get a Lexus.
This video is going to be a classic lol
It will be screened at Toyota management meetings in Japan. ...lol.
Rajkiran Natarajan yup
I saw a video on CZcams of a lexus with 1 million miles
True.
littlepiggydog on IG
Was that Matt’s Lexus LS400?
@@masteryoda498 Yes and 2 Tundra's made it to 1 million.
Hi Scotty - b/c of your recommendation I picked up a used L-certified Lexus es350. I’ve had it for a year and a half and I absolutely love it !!! Thanks !!! I really enjoy your videos.
Luv the GS 350 06 thru 2011 models . I totally agree and understand about some of these futuristic looking 🚗 🚘 cars.
Just bought a 2012 lexus es350 it is an amazing car. Bought it 3 months ago. Love the luxury.
If the UAW built 🚗 like the Japanese they wouldn't be out of a job right now.
maria dalessio very nice! I got an 07' es350 3 months ago also! I keep finding neat features on it, love it!
I love the new front grills!
I do too!
I don’t know why enthusiasts don’t recognize it as a shark nose grill.
Scotty you are a gem!
your enthusiasm is baffling yet contagious.
Once Again, love your vids. Keep em coming
Preach it, Brother Scotty. As an owner of BMWs for several years prior to buying my '13 GS 350 (yes, it has the ugly grille, but not so glaringly bad as later models), I can say without a doubt that the GS is equal or better in most significant ways to a non-M Bimmer with WAY less anxiety-inducing dashboard lights coming on ... none have ever come on in the GS, in fact. Lexus truly makes outstanding cars.
Scotty I've been watching you for around a year now and you have finally got to me I went out and bought a Toyota 63.500 miles on the clock so I hope you're right and it'll make it to the end of the century
This is the reason why I own 02 lexus es300 now as my 1st car, I got it w/ 269,000 km on it, I replaced the rotors as it rusty, change the oil and filters, and the effin v6 roars on the highway especially on sport mode. Thanks Scotty!Your the man.
