    Hi, I just found you on CZcams a day and a half ago and I absolutely love that Celica built. I’m doing a similar one except the engine is going into a Corolla. I appreciate your videos so much, because they’re answering questions that I didn’t think would come up in my build. I look forward to seeing the project come out. Keep up the great work!

      The 1uz is only about 60-80lbs(depending on the version) more than the 22re so people usually move the battery to the rear and have approximately stock weight ratio.

    • @winguard96
      @winguard96  Před 3 lety +2

      @DearSX Yep! I've used 1991 MR2 inserts for the front (assuming you cut ~40mm of the strut tubes) and 1987 Camaro rear shocks. Mustang shocks work too. Here's a write-up of I had on my car: www.celica-gts.com/forums/index.php?topic=30743.0

    • @winguard96
      @winguard96  Před 3 lety +2

      @Freddy Mendoza Precisely why I did my battery relocation! The stock Pb batteries weigh ~40 lbs, so moving it to the rear offsets the front weight by ~80 lbs! Should definitely help the balance of the car.

    I forgot to mention, that coolant line that was affecting your an fitting clearance underneath the TB can be deleted. You can actually mod the throttle body and save lots of space making the engine look cleaner. CartuneNZ made a detailed video on this mod. I'll look for it and send you the link here:

      @winguard96  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey thanks for the info Larry; I've seen these videos from Kel before, but I can't really delete any of the TB coolant lines because of how they are tied into the IACV and EGR systems. It would raise a red flag during inspection, and I would like to make sure my car is California emissions compliant. Changing the fuel line setup to use the stock hardline and a -AN fitting seemed to work out well.

    • @larrysheran
      @larrysheran Před 3 lety

      @@winguard96 Anytime! So you can delete the EGR as well. I understand the need to keep it CA Compliant. Trust me I'm in Cali too but, isn't it already a red flag when it has a different engine from the 22R-E?

    • @winguard96
      @winguard96  Před 3 lety +1

      Nope, the EGR must stay. Well yes, if you take it to a smog station; that's why you first take it to a BAR referee station to have the car inspected, and then you get a sticker saying the car will smog as an LS400 instead of a Celica.

    • @winguard96
      @winguard96  Před 3 lety +1

      Sure is, thank you! I will be highlighting it more in the next episode (or two), but I'm trying to adapt the idler pulley bracket from a '06-'08 GS430 (3UZ) since they have electric power steering. Toyota part# 16607-50010. Mounting depth matches the Series 1 1UZFE, but not a lot of options for mounting bosses. • @kalabityjak
    @kalabityjak Před 3 lety

    Im going to be doing the same build but with a 82 celica and this series is really helpful. But I've been hearing a bit lately that the car chassis might not be strong enough to handle the v8 or something like that?

    • @winguard96
      @winguard96  Před 3 lety +1

      That's awesome!! No, the chassis is not the weak point; it'll be the rear axle. If you know that you'll be abusing your car for drifting or motorsport, then I would recommend upgrading that. Ford Explorer 8.8" axles are a common upgrade, and parts/gear sets/custom axles are readily available. If you decide to increase power beyond stock, then the transmission is the next weak point.
