Did you have to sand the top and bottom of the timing cover? I ask because I got the conversion and tried sneaking in my cover while my head was installed and I couldn’t because the cover is slightly over lapping the block. I did some research and a guy had to sand his too, so I’m wondering if you had too?

That sucks you cut the outer tie rod to much. Great job on the installation and the tip for the correct positioning of the outer tie rod to the knuckle point. I was trying to find someone that had installed those correctly and you're the man!!

I wish these cars had more aftermarket support. One of the reasons I sold my RA65 was the simple lack of even OEM style rear suspension parts. Not sure if I'll ever make it out to the west coast, but it would be cool to have pictures of my two tone blue 85 Corvette parked next to your two tone Celica.

Another comment. That smell you were well. Smelling, was more than likely the exhaust header paint we applied, i remember that stuff was insanely powdery and it called for being baked on but i suppose running the engine did that for you.

For anyone thinking about doing this swap, Quantum Auto sells a UZ adapter plate that has a nearly full bolt circle for TOB mounting. This gives you 27 possible positions to clock it right where you want it and avoid some of the difficulties faced by the intrepid hero of this build.

Where did you get all of that color matched paint? I am at this step in my 1uz swap. Napa? All I was aware of was Dupli color matched spray-paint. I painted my hatch last summer with duplicolors 8oz paint, it matched ok but the cans were tiny and loved to splatter.

Wow!! That's some work!! Great job the car is looking great!! It seems to me that the RA64 has a bit less spacing under the car for the exhaust system than the AE86. It could just be the camera angle. Overall awesome work!!

It must be a very proud moment for you🎉 I actually had to go back after this video and watch the video you posted back on May 2020 where you and some friends pulled the 1uzfe from a pick- and-pull LS400. Someday I hope to achieve a similar engine swap; a California-legal 1UZFE swap into an A70. But that's a long way down the road from now due to my limited mechanical (and electrical) knowledge and real estate (work space). I'm glad to see that you are using the stock ECU and really cleaned up the wiring to where it looks almost OEM. Thanks again for a detailed, informative, and entertaining video! 🎉

The stock ecu is ok but once you put a manual transmission behind the 1uz and have no torque converter the stock tune is not so great. You really do need a stand alone ecu and tune to get the most out of a manual swapped 1uz.

Man... I really hope we get an in-car driving impressions / review of the V8 Celica.

Congratulations m8! I really enjoyed this series, I'm not a big 1UZ guy but I am a big A60 Celica guy. But one tip I'd give you is I made myself a "start box" out of a sandwich container which has switches, a push button and a terminal block so that I could temporarily wire everything up and "test start" the engine on the stock engine loom to verify everything works before properly rewiring the whole loom to suit the car.
