Whoever wants to make work on cycles just add a "set hair curve profile" set the radios to .03 , shape to .05 , change the curve back to strand in the render settings and you got it!
This is wonderfully perfect! I've just begun messing around with anime nature scenes and this came at the perfect time. Can't wait to sit down and watch through this
Thank you for this video, you, comfee mug and CG Dash are my go to channels for anything anime or stylized
Wow... just wow 😱😱 This is amazing, I am always blown away when I get to see another one of your videos. This grass is so beautiful! Keep up the incredible work!!
Wah Thank you so much Comfee! ❤️❤️
Great tutorial! Eagerly looking forward to part 2.
I just finished your tree tutorial and u got the grass right now?? Awesome !!
Thanks for sharing. Love this technique 👍
Thank you! Great work! I was waiting for a tutorial like this) Really want to see the part 2! Looks amazing
So satisfied the result! Thank you so much for this. Definitely subscribing.
how good a new video was already missing learning from your videos
So excited cant wait
Thank you! ❤
Good job sensei, im proud of u
This was Super helpful. Thanks
Thank youf for making this truly amazing, easy to follow, informative video tutorial. I onlyhope to understand how to grasp the concepts in Geo nodes inorder to create this process.
amazing :)
Here from Comfee, loving your channel!! Subbed!!
thannks for the tutorial!!
excellent tutorials and shaders. thank you! I hope someday there will be a tutorial on how to make the animated sky, stars and clouds :v
This was an awesome video since i'm thinking of making an animation video of my own and your video was the one that i was looking for but a humble request that can you combine two of your videos such as the rain splash and stylized grass to give the grass a sparkly crystal effect. Coz the geometry nodes looks like my mom. And Thanks a Lot !!!!
I absolutely love this tutorial and got great results following this , this got me out of the limbo is was stuck on a project . thank you so much cant wait to get more tutorials from u
one question though how would u make this animation into a loop??
Hello, another 2D art enthusiast 🎉📊👍
Always loved your works! Tho I recently started trying Cycles. Any way to get this work with it?
I love it! It looks so good in the eevee render engine. Do you know if theres a way to get that shade-less look to work in cycles? The same normal trick doesn't seem to function the same in cycles.
Nice, I wonder how can we manually paint the grass on the ground? or add a noise variation to it? because the whole ground is filled with grass.
Thanks for the video, I have learned a lot, and the nodes may look complex at the beginning, but what you say is true, as I practice, I gain confidence, but I have a question, how did you do it so that in the end the grass has that shape? They look like cones, they look good, you don't explain that in your video
This tutorial is great! I have a question if there is any way to pick out a particular area without grass
Yes! You can use the Vertex group to store some data and access it in geometry nodes using the Attribute node.
Is there a simple way to adjust the shader and render engine settings to catch shadows without casting with the eevee changes in blender 4.2? I can turn off the sun light source shadows but then the cube does not cast any shadows and it seems that light groups are still cycles only
Could someone help me please with adding a attribute node in the geometry nodes to assign the grass to a vertex group or be able to weight paint the grass (I tried messing around but I couldn’t figure it out), also when I rotated the wind in geometry nodes the texture of the grass didn’t rotate so the wind highlights are blowing backwards lol.
I made deh grass and deam is it nice :) even made a video showing it
❤🎉
Is there any method to place curve hairs along specific weight paint area?
Yes! You can use the "Named attribute" to get the Vertex paint data 👍
For some reason my grass texture is not visible even though all my steps are correct. And yes I am in the shading tab
Hey! Excellent tutorial :D My only questions is how you get the grass to go from flat strips into more of a grass shape. I couldn't see a step for that in the tute and everything else works for me except they look like streamers. I tried to download the tutorial files too check out your node setup, but there doesn't seem to be one for this project, it looks like it only part of your patreon bundle :(
You want to convert the curves into meshes? In geometry nodes you can do that 👍 You can use the Curve to Mesh node and give it a circular Curve Profile to convert the grass into mesh
I wish i was half as good as u
You can do it! XD
There are a lot of people who are better than me and you might be one of them in the future too! Just continue doing what you love and eventually you'll get there 👍👍
but what next? for example, I created a location and I want to add grass to certain areas of the area, say in the corners of buildings, a little in a vacant lot, what if I want the grass to be somewhere higher, somewhere lower. How can I use this method? How many computer resources does this method consume? But what if there are also animating flags and water in my location? Is this method optimal or is it just a way to create grass without the ability to use it later?
Hi hi! I had a question/ Am experiencing a problem. At 5:50 when you say to plug the Align Euler to Vector into the Mix Rotation node, The bars become red and it does not work? do you know why?
Update: I got it working Using Mix: Vector instead of Rotation :/
Great tutorial, except for one thing. I'm using 4.2 and can't fidn the blend mode for my grass materials. Where can I find it because I've serached all over and still can't find it.
I ran into the same issue.
As for the shadows--turning them off in the object properties seems to create a similar effect.
But dunno where the blending mode disappeared to in 4.2
@@The_Horse-leafs_Cabbage I wish Blender had it addressed in their latest update at least.
why does my hair curves, at the same settings as yours, look different? right after you adding the generate hair curves node, the plane is almost populated, while mine isnt? also, the height of the default setting grass is so tall for me? any thoughts? tyia
okay ive tinkered with the Generate Hair Curve's inner nodes' Divide and Multiply to get the same results as yours. Thanks!
I'm guessing Align euler to vector - mix - vector rotate isn't working for me cuz I'm in 4.0
Yep. I started following along in 4.0 but a couple of these nodes are new or have new functionality in 4.1 so I switched to finish.
I don’t know what to say. 🤭 🤭 🤭. This video is giving known and intimidating at the same time. How on earth do people learn all this.
its me again, is it possible to make hills here?
Can you use this for games also like unreal 5?
I think it is possible, but Unreal uses a different renderer than Blender 👍 You definitely have to write some code or Unreal blueprints for it.
Is it possible to integrate this grass into unreal afterwards ? :o
I'm not sure about Unreal Engine. It uses a different renderer than Blender, but I think it is possible. 👍 You definitely have to write some code or Unreal blueprints for it.
in chapter 2 you didn't mention how to loop the grass, is there a simple way to do that?
Hmm. I can explain that in part 2 👍
@@tawansunflower ah alrighty, whens that planned?
It should be uploaded within next week, but for now you can take a look at this video first. It's tutorial on how to loop noise textures 👍

@@tawansunflower thank you 💙
@@tawansunflower hey i`ve tried to follow this tutorial in many ways, spend all day trying other set ups and dosen`t worked pleaaase how we can loop the animation
By the end of the first chapter, the grass simply breaks into squares on both sides of the surface, do you have any addons or is it a uv map? I just don’t understand why the result is so striking.
??? I can't really picture what you mean. Does the grass turns into squares? If so, it might have something to do with the accumulate field node. You might set something wrong around that time of the video.
@@tawansunflower yes, the grass turns into strange squares that are attached to both sides of the surface, it looks like an error, but I re-checked everything three times and no errors, perhaps the problem is in one of my third-party addons, I can’t find any other reason
but I found a way to fix it: in the vector rotate node I changed the first value in center to 0.06 and the squares became more like grass, minus the truth that I can’t use your convenient method with the wind in this case, which is at the end of the video, but for scenes it’s all the same enough. Maybe when blender comes out in 4.2 stable it will come out to do exactly the same
in general, it seems to me that this is either a conflict of addons or a bug, because without adding a value to vector rotate, I can’t even change the length of the grass, it’s just an unchangeable bunch of squares
Rip- i cant win the 5 person giveaway cuz im like a thousand miles from home, awesome timing xD
Don't worry! There is a secret winner price :3
You can still get it. I'll leave the form open or some time.
can someone know how to make it loop or it's a new challenge for Tawan?
You can follow this tutorial 👍

@@tawansunflower Thank a lot man
what did you study to become pro?
I learn most of Blender from CZcams XD And now here I am. It's been about 5 years now.
@@tawansunflower thanks!
First time try: dafug why the wind look so dumb?
second attemp: dafug why the wind look the the video now?
thank for the great turtorial
Here's my question where's part 2?
khob kun kub kun tawan 🙏
EEVEE or Cycles?
This tutorial is for EEVEE, but the geometry nodes does work on both 👍 Cycles needs a little modification to the geometry nodes and the shader for the grass to show correctly
@@tawansunflower so for Cycles what would you change in the geometry nodes?
I love your videos but it sucks that you don't do tutorials for the advanced versions of things.. I don't mind the actual files being paid, but if I can't even learn to make the nice things, then it's demotivating to learn anything in your style
That's very fair. And yeah I want to be more open about these complex stuffs too. I think a lot about how should I give as many assets as I could while also making money.
I did recently decide to make all the launches of the paid stuffs to be free. Like the Grass Advanced was actually free for a few days, and 8,000 artists did get it for free. 👍 You can see the sales in the product page. It was definitely one of the best thing I did, and I'd definitely do it again. I means I can give free stuffs to my royal followers while also making some money for the assets I make.
@@tawansunflower Yeah I want you to get revenue as well and I think you should sell all your assets, but is it hard or bad to make tutorials for the advanced things? Would people not buy your assets anymore?
I'd imagine that you could sell everything, and still make tutorials, so people who wanna learn can still do, and those who just don't wanna bother and wanna buy the asset straight away can do so too.
But I don't know, I'm just a viewer ^^"
Anyway thanks for the answer and for your work, I wish you great success!
@@tawansunflower Patreon members could also get access to your videos and stuff earlier!
Where do you learn this stuff . It’s hard for me to learn without context so I can follow the tutorial but can’t use this to create my own stuff. Can you create a video following the logic of way you do or use certain nodes. Right not I play with nodes and use random one but the effect and definitions of what they do don’t connect. I place random nodes trying to figure out what is going on but most of the time nothing happens
I learn most of it from CZcams actually XD
I really like those videos that explains every nodes and give a simple example. My tutorial is quite complex, so I have to recommend watching the basics first. 👍
