I just received my 940 custom. It has teal scales and dark blue knobs. It is my first modern knife. I normally collect Italian stilettos and German and Czech leverlocks😊

I love the look of that worn clip. Super dope. Nobody can say you safe Queen your knives 😂! With those custom prices it better be flawless! Lovely sharpening, they should honestly hand sharpen those if they can. I’m sure the time would be hard but it would be a nice touch. Love the full purple backspacer.

The stripped silver OG clip you put on the 940 looks amazing! I'm so used to Benchmades that arrive with rough, wonky factory edges...so I was kinda shocked when this knife arrived wicked sharp with smooth, even bevels! The 940 remains such a classic, tough, humble work knife/pry bar/screwdriver/whatever.. And she's a cheap date too!! She's entirely content to eat pizza with you off of your truck's tailgate, whereas that pompous snob, the Narrows, insists that you wear a Tuxedo and drop $580 on a ridiculously overpriced 30 course tasting menu!!! So haughty!!! 🤣. The Reverse Slater/940 combo is a dynamic duo for the ages!! 🍊🧡 Love it!! Awesome video, E!!! ❤

The orange scales on that 940 look awesome, and it makes a nice looking pair with that Reverse Slater! And I wonder if a piece of bank line would be thin enough for a lanyard on that one, but don't know for sure. Might be worth a shot. Have a great weekend, E!

A few years ago I ordered two custom griptilians from their custom shop… both arrived dull… and when I say dull, I mean neither had any bevels put on them… no joke. I contacted Benchmade to ask why I basically received two butter knives. They were great and said “yeah that should never happen” they took care of everything and made it right… but you can imagine my surprise when I opened those boxes! I love my 940… took an m4 blade from one of the BHQ 940’s and put into the aluminum green handles… one of my fav knives I own!

The Orange 940 looks gorgeous. I have the 940 with a green G-10 handle and M4 black steel blade.

Definitely going to order one. I have two custom orders currently. A mini Griptilian and mini Crooked River. Both have excellent fit and finish. Love the upgraded materials, but hate those already sky high prices.

The Sodbuster and the Osborne are a nice combination. My EDC setup is actually always a Case Sodbuster Jr (which is then replaced by the reverse slater when it's there), the ProTech Godson and a MagLite Solitaire on the keychain

If you want to put a lanyard on that 940 you could pull that end spacer out and put a ring like on your Cadet around it then attach a lanyard. I did that to my Kizer. Works great!

Carried my 940-2 for a year straight absolutely love it. But this spyderco leafjumper in K390 might be the one to dethrone it, incredible knife and steel.

I just got that bladehq exc in Jed g10 and m4 and man it came perfect I sold my rei version in g10 and missed it so I saw a good price and jumped on it . Great review and vid as always. Oh and I like the stock clip on mine also I have a short deep carry and it hits the scale screw and makes a clicking noise drives me crazy

love tha ORange!!! I used a Boker Barlow for Months it was all Micarta it wore a tad from use but after it settled it there was no pivot wear... I also had a Custom Leclair n the Backspring was CF it works as long as it was Polished to the maxx.. I think they Make the 940 silver for use over looks ive found the silver axis bars way smoother then the black blade n black bar . pps Your Beautiful , You all are Beautiful the lot of youss!!

My 940 is still in like new condition because it is like new. I've only carried it a couple of times. Your old one looks well used, and back when I bought mine, I did some research on it and saw some reviews. One of the guys who did a video on his made yours look like it's in very good shape, his had 50% of the green worn off the scales and the blade had been sharpened so much it was hard to call it the Osborne blade shape. Good update. Thanks. Oh, and I'm really liking the wallet.

@@ericasedc too long ago to remember, don't think so. I remember that he sent it back to Benchmade for a new blade, kept the handle the way it was, he liked the warn look it had.

Think I've seen that video also . 10+ year review i believe. One of the blades he shows, he used and sharpened so much he had to thin the primary grind. Still looks like he could get many years out of it. If you watch his other videos, he really knows what hes talking about.
Really digging that custom shope 940, love that piller construction and you actually got a really good blade on yours, ive seen some where you hardly have any beard towards the choil. You should get a bunch of sharpening out of that.

You can loop a paracord over the pocket clip as an option. A lanyard option would have been nice, but if it changes the aesthetics, I can do without it.

Of course, I love my aluminium 940, but I like the G10 more. I happened to have carried my REI Edition 940 today, so I had been using a G10 Osborne all day. I do wish they’d done custom aluminum choices, in addition to the others.

I was just messing around with the custom shop & built a cool looking 940 with a red show scale & white clip scale with black hardware & blade, & orange spacers & stud. But I notice they don't have M4, 20CV, S90V available right now, nor do they have the orange scales listed. There was at least one thing listed that said "sold out" so I'm thinking they need to restock some of that. It is possible I'd make one in the future. The G10 version is only about $70 more than buying new if you stick with S30V.

I still regret a little bit that i didn't jump on the black friday deal at blade hq for the M4 940 for $144. On the other hand, maybe my 945 is good enough, knowing that the most common task i use it for, is slicing tomatoes😁

@@ericasedc 945 is the small one, but the 943 (and 941) has the same blade length as the 940. It just has the drop point blade that I like much better.
Being able to get the 943 blade shape in something other than the s30v would be neato, too.
I have like six 943’s in different handles that I’ve put together over time
Benchmade is one of those companies where I want one of everything, I just don’t want to spend all the money.

Erica, made a mistake earlier asking about stripping the benchmade clip like you did on your custom 940. The clip has a parkerized finish, the blade is dlt, I believe. My mistake.

I have a feeling the og 940 will be going away soon. Seems like they're trying to get away from the aluminum knives. Its a damn shame. Nothing wears as well as the aluminum.
I saw where someone posted about 940s going out of production. I don't think I buy it, at least I hope it's not, the basic 940 is my favorite Benchmade

Why s30v on the custom 940 and not s90v?

Prolly wanted $100 for that S90V which is ridiculous, considering what s90V knives go for now, but as she said didn’t order it.

I have a 940-1 and it’s in mint condition I’m not hard on the knife but I want to buy a new blade to make it look brand new when I bought the knife they told me it would be $30 for a new blade now they change the policy they want 30% of the cost of the Knife so that’s $95 for a blade so I’m fighting back-and-forth with them because I told them when I bought the knife you gave me my guarantee and now you’re changing it I should be honored because I bought my knife before you changed your policy so we’re going back-and-forth I have to get in touch with Amazon so they can send me the original receipt from four years ago I’m telling you. Bench made are the biggest scum bags. Most people I know will never buy twice.
Blade costs and labor has gone up. A blade no longer cost what it did when you bought the knife. They didn't guarantee you anything. They said they'd replace the blade for a cost, which at the time was 30 dollars, but now with inflation and the cost of everything it's 90 dollars. Woopy do. Everything cost more. Do you go to your car dealer and tell them you want a oil change for 20 dollars bc that's what it was 15 yrs ago when you bought your car? No you pay the 80 plus dollars that it cost now. Your being a Karen. Be grateful they give you the option to buy a new blade instead of a whole new knife which would be 207 dollars before tax and shipping. Spyderco doesn't offer blade replacement, you have to buy a new knife, probably bc of people like you. Your still saving money.
@@Trolldaddy5 a new blade would not be $207. It would be $325 but anyway I decided to keep it the way it was because like I said it’s in great shape and it’s not that important to me. It seems important to you. You wrote me a dictionary for the sake of love.
