@@benjysho6290 People who dont understand football, dont understand Havertz role in this Arsenal team. For an ex footballer to say hes a "highlights player" is ridiculous. Hes the exact opposite at Arsenal.
When Arsenal dont have the ball, his job is to defend, win duels and win the ball back which he has done very well and the stats back that up. This is the part of the job that people dont take note of because they want to see a "highlights player".
When Arsenal have the ball, his job is to be the 2nd striker, make late runs into the box, win headers, create space for other attackers. Hes not the creator or involved in build up play like a traditional LCM. Hes also tall enough for the GK to go long to to beat the opposition press. Arsenal didnt have this option against City and Brighton last year and suffered from it.

The issue is that people only reduce players to goals/assists, when his #1 role at Arsenal (at least) is off the ball, winning duels, making the team around him better by his runs and physical presence.
The goals contributions are good but a bonus. Let's not forget that he's a versatile replacement for XHAKA & Granit only scored 8 goals in his superb last season.
Kai is already halfway there a few mere months after joining a wildly different club & play style.

At Chelsea, he was being played as an out and out striker with basically no assistance on the wing for him during his time. There are very few strikers in the world that can handle that kind of burden, let alone someone who should not have been up there in the first place. Chelsea do this consistently with players, play players completely incorrectly

he is a key player, if granit Xhaka, who gave us 7goals last season was a key player, kai is only 3goals away from 7and has played less games than Xhaka at this time last season. Just because Chelsea FC is a badly run club that damages players doesn't mean the player is not good enough or cannot become a key player in another team.

You never saw Granit Xhaka being a key member of last seasons arsenal team, but Arteta created a role for him.
He is now doing the same for Kai Haverts. Lets see how he continues to perform, but if he can end the season with 12-15 goals in this new role, he justifies his move.

This is the beginning of Rory changing his mind on Kai Havertz. No worries. Every season, Rory has a take that goes sideways on him and over the course of the season, he comes around and starts to support as a pundit rather than hate as a fan. It’s okay. It’s one of the reasons we like Rory, he admits his bias and when he’s wrong.

The biggest point missing here is he is playing as midfielder in Arsenal & at Chelsea he was a false no 9. If he scores 10 goals a season its fine at Arsenal but Chelsea he was expected to score more that 15 or 17 every season. And based on what i have seen from him this season he is on track to become an upgrade on Granit Xhaka who was playing a similar role.

Rory seems to be so biased in his hate for Havertz that he isn’t completely agreeing to the fact that Havertz isn’t playing the same role as he was for Chelsea. Arsenal have Saka, Martinelli, Jesus, Odegaard, Trossard, Nketiah and even Rice to score important goals and Havertz isn’t under as much pressure to score every game because he plays as a rotating midfielder who likes to head the ball during dead ball situations and interchanges position with Martinelli and Jesus every few minutes.

Kai's talent was stunted for whatever reasons at Chelsea and rather then being bought just to stop a rival buying him on the basis that the needs of one team means they needed that type of player just much to flourish, he's joined a team that wanted his attributes and underlining talent he has that is waiting to be nurtured and then exploited on the pitch. How many times have we bought a highly talented player that wasnt living up to expection only to become legends? They used to call it Wengers magic hat but Arteta's wearing it now 🎩

That was a serious injury and will take time to get back to game ready level, barring a setback or getting injured again which is possible with the injury he sustained. Reoccurrence of hamstring injuries is very common so it might be too late to turn it around if and when he gets back to 100%.

Tbh Havertz is a tricky one to place on the field and was infuriating to watch as a Chelsea fan.
BUT when Arteta signed him with Xhaka going out, I thought it was an inspired transfer. Replace Xhaka and you have a player, who will operate in the same half-space he was always good at during Chelsea and Leverkusen stitns, that pocket on the edge of the box or as the last runner in the box during a cross. I expected Havertz to perform better as a goal-scoring threat in this position than at 9 in Chelsea, let's see if he beats the tally.
