Darren bent is a legend seems like such a nice bloke love hearing him on talk sport
💯
His team mates wives always thought so.
Players like Kevin Muscat don’t belong in football if his only aim is to injure other players. It just shows that you lack quality
Just on the Roy Keane story- I met this cork man in Sydney a few years ago. He ended up best friends with my brother who was living over there. This guy played soccer with keanes older brother. What he described was real tough fighting men the keanes. All the brothers were hard as nails. English think the bottom is bad their. Being poor in cork in the 70s and 80s was crazy tough, and people wonder where he gets all that from… the gutter
BS
@@charlielad6124 hahaha Charlielad, legend bro
Being a nasty tackler isn't the same as being 'hard'
Yes it is
@@delboy013how?
@@delboy013no it’s not.awh someone never play football have they
yeah but thats definitely a trait of hard footballers. The guy was unreal good
Some people confuse being hard with being a terrible clogger of a footballer.
I know he was injured a lot in the 90s, but Ronnie Whelan was hard as nails. A proper silent assasin.
Totally agree
And if Ronnie didn’t get you Steve McMahon would make sure he didn’t miss you!
Excellent shout pal
Whelan was class
Yes!!! - The Shield. - Ronnie was a great player, but had a nasty streak if he was provoked. - Kind of sad how he was sacrificed so often in the Liverpool midfield and regularly had to make way for Jan Molby and Steve McMahon, who he was easily the equal of.
John Fashanu's a shout
Actually anybody who played for Wimbledon between 1989 and 1999 is a shout
Apart from Mick Harford knocking out 2 of them after a game when he played for Luton.
Gary mabbutt would vouch for that...
Fash The bash black belt in karate very peculiar guy but you wouldn't want to cross him
He was a coward. That's not a hard man. Ditto Vinnie Jones.
Fashanu was a vile Bully... After watching that documentary on 'The Crazy Gang' it became apparent what a horrible person he was.
Duncan Ferguson was one tough dude
Sure was! The guy got sent to jail, not just sent off! The 2 burglars he put in hospital would also agree with you!
There is no tough "dudes," only tough men.
On the pitch, yes, but a total gentleman off it. Heart of gold.
You’s all comment here like you know them personally. So cute.🥰 wrong emoji for this thread ye ?? 😮
Ferguson the hardest for real and I'm LFC
Colin hendry was hard as nails
That Duncan story reminded me of movie Football Factories When Zeberdee breaks into Brights place ...classic
Mark Hateley over Ferguson, Van den Hauwe over Pearce, No mention of Jimmy Case, Terry Hurlock, Mark Dennis, and the guy who should be no1 Mick Harford
All these things these "hard men" done were challenges on a football pitch in a safe environment...
Meanwhile Kolasinac got out of his car to fight two men with knives, and then ended up chasing them away...
Different breed.
100% true.. so many footballers give it large on pitch but off pitch are wimps
Someone broke into Duncan Fergusons house around 20 years ago. They spent 3 days in hospital over it
@JackSpurs So headbutting someone is tougher than choosing to fight two guys with knives with your fists and then end up chasing them even though you're already safe and the fight is over? Na fella.
Gunner fan here. Hardest men of the 90's, Kolasinac was born in 1993, doubt he was chasing anyone with knives then right
Heard a similar story about Edgar Davids. He fought off car thieves in Italy iirc
Thats a great list. Duncan was my fav ever Evertonian. I loved the man. Still do. Genuine, and proper hard man.
Joe jordan was rock hard!!
yep, Gattuso will never understand fully how lucky he is to be still breathing
Duncan Ferguson. English fans know he was jailed in Scotland but don't know he had multiple arrests for assault and a total of gour convictions. Also, there were two attempted burglaries, 2001 and 2003. Both times he put burglars in hospital. On the pitch he was often unplayable. The way he launched at the ball and sometimes players terrified defenders. If that man blew a fuse you'd better run. A genuine street fighter, genuine hard man.
It always suprises me as to why Mark Hughes isnt mentioned as much as he should be.. people confuse hardman with dirty or tough tackling people like muscat, jones, ruddock and keown.. but hard as nails is 1) Duncan Ferguson 2) Mark Hughes 3) Hartson
4) Dicks 5) Pearce from the top of the head.. Tough players, Hard not Dirty..
100%
True, hard is not making reckless tackles. There is nothing hard about that. ANy old tosser can make reckless tackles on the football pitch and be said to be hard.
Hard is like taking hits, not shying away from confrontation, aggression, extremly tough and disciplined.
@@Dave-wh3hw Hartson Taking Vinnie Jones Into A Pub Car Park While At Wimbledon Was Hard Though
@@lucascurrell8846 100% and there is not many who got the better of Sparky throughout his career.. he had strength, tree trunk sized thighs, aggression a will to win and left many a defender bruised in battle but fairly just by being a bull like player
well said
big dunc hard as nails even keano didnt want anything to do with him when they used to play against each other
Loads of proper toughies around back in the 80/90s. Terry Hurlock, Mick Harford, Brian Kilcline, Graeme Souness, Graham Roberts, Big Dunc, Stuey Pearce. I wonder how todays fancy pants players would have fared against these guys.
The Leeds team of 1970’s were all hard….especially little Johnny Giles
And they could play. What a team.
Good list!
Matt Elliott ex Leicester & Scotland played early 2000s Google if unsure people. Also very underrated defender.
I’m pretty sure that chip shop incident was Duncan Ferguson and he ended up knocking out a police officer at the cab rank
Fashanu and jones were just bullies..apparently laurie sanchez give fashanu a good hiding
Fash the bash was one of hardest out there black belt in karate and extremely tapped if you were on the wrong side of him not to mention the way the opposition fans would get onto him back in the 80s and jibe at his brother.. there's that iconic photo where he's going at I believe the Middlesbrough team at ayresome park and even Vinnie Jones is trying to pull him back
He was a vile Bully who turned on his own brother.. Horrible person.
Haha, karate. Karate is for little girls and old men.
Kevin Muscat! A mention on Australia Day!
fitting. bet his have a few frothies today
Keane was only 5' 10. He wasn't even known as a hard man pre United. He was super competitive and strong as an ox for his size. He was also a superb player unlike most hard men.
5'9 tops
Maradona was 5 feet 5 and kicked the shite outa the entire bilbo team on his own like a dwarf pumped full of steroids proper hard
He had an unbeaten boxing record before he switched to football
Robson needs a mention
Terry butcher not in the 90s? He was a beast
In Vinnie Jones’ book he says Kevin Ball was the hardest he ever came across.
john fashanu awooga and Vinny were the toughest surely
😂😂
Anyone who played in premier leagues first season...most were hard (by todays standards). Even the small guys like Denis Wise
Ruddock 🙄😂, come off it
Vinny Jones eats him for a snack
My EYES are now OPEN
Surprised Jon Walter’s isn’t on the list as he thinks he’s the hardest bloke around , but of course he won’t say why just yet 😂
John Fashanu not mentioned?
I think I'd put John Fashanu as number one as he did martial arts then Duncan Ferguson. Only player I would put as completely crazy enough to have a go at both of those is Edmundo a.k.a. The Animal. He was a fkn nutjob in every sense.
One of the true hard men was a certain Bobby Campbell ex Bradford City player.
I love the story about the burglars with Duncan Ferguson. How he phoned the emergency services not for the police, but for an ambulance for one of the burglars, because he thought he killed him. 😂
Dennis Wise!
What about Maradona who held his own against much larger defenders while being only 5'4
Robbie Savage, Luke Chadwick, jesse lingard, Peter crouch, Jamie Ohara
😂😂😂😂😂
Vinnie Jones has to be in there somewhere and there's a reason Stuart Pearce was called Psycho!!!
Pearce gave himself that name. Nobody else did. It’s embarrassing. He wasn’t a psycho he was far from it 😂
Cantona
a French man being hard ahahahahahahaaha don't be silly, he picked his battles, when Vinnie jones tackled him he turned away and stopped himself from retaliating from Vinnie he didnt want no part of him
Keane was a good footballer but was about 10 stone, somebody like Duncan Ferguson was a legit hard case, battering two burglars etc, Keane scowling at Gary Neville on sky doesn’t make him a hard case
2:10 for keeeeeno
Where is stam???
Big Dunc was just scary.
Mark Hughes, Duncan Ferguson, Keane , Vieira, David Batty.....the likes of Andy Todd, Ben Thatcher. Kevin Muscat were cowards with late tackles/ assaults...doesnt define a hardman.
Fish snd chip story was actually Nicky Butt.
John Hartson for sure. Robbie keane another one. Sean Dyche, Big Sam, Mick Hartford, John Fashanu and Kerry Dixon.
Billy Whitehurst must have been a contender. He was a hard man and it wasn't an act. Not sure Roy Keane was anywhere near as hard as the image he has tried to live up to. I base it on whether the person in question was picking a fight with me and I didnt know who they were would I have a pop or do a bit of grovelling. Keane I would not be too bothered but Billy Witehurst, Duncan Ferguson or Vinnie Jones, that's a different matter.
Norman Hunter!
Billy Whitehurst shout out
John Fashanu - nasty player and legitimately could fight
Peter Beardsley hard as nails
1.Ferguson
2. Mick Harford
3. Robson
4. Wally
5. Souness
I guess people’s lists should be based more so on personal experiences than stories. Plenty of people have inflated reputations on the strength of fictitious or exaggerated stories.
Between Souness and Big Dunc but Dunc just edges it
Souness😂😂😂 give over would you
@@El_terrible1985 acting like you ever saw him play
@@El_terrible1985 there's no chance your a football fan if you don't rate souness! Hard as they come , and a brilliant player ! ✌️🏴
@@STSauto he was a great player I don’t doubt that. But he ain’t no hard man
Pogatetz was a lunatic
Kevin ball at Sunderland
Kevin Muscat 🙄Difference between a hard man and a psycho who puts in cowardly late tackles. Epitome of hardman was Billy Whitehurst. Anyone that doesnt know him look him up😃
Vinnie Jones should be in there! Sorry, but look at his game footage, he was an animal!
Rooney prior to the England Red card, was as hard as they come.
He made me a United fan. Absolute pitbull. You knew, every single time he lost the ball, he would sprint to his own goal to get it back. & it seems like 90% of the time he succeeded.
Rooney is why we know the new kids are lazy AF.
Mick Harford 💯
Harford #1, absolute animal on and off the park
lol on australia day too bahahah
Gordon Durie could have a row.
Nigel winterburn could mix it up with the hardest
you avin a laugh he shat his pants when di canio went for him ,it was embarrising
Ryan needs a talking to 🤣
Kevin Ball has to be in it for me
Think everyone would pick dunc no1
Where's Ben Thatcher?
Vidić must top that list
Neymar should be on the list and jesse lingard and pogba
Joey Barton?
Shearer and big Dunc waiting for Gullit one time to put it on him and the sacking saved him from getting a pasting by the 2 😅 what a lucky man
Feasting on urban myths. It happened, I'm sure Gullit gave a good account of himself. But to glorify the confrontation and violent insinuation? Just sad.
there was no violence involved, they wasntwaiting to beat him up ffs they just wanted to debate why they weren't getting game time.
Hard often means I can chop someone who was far better than me. Doesn't take a genius to go through someone running at speed with the ball. Chopper Harris was he any good? How many England caps.
does Bent normally talk like that or did he have a livener beforehand lol
did kevin muscat ever tackle vinnie jones,no thought not
Roy is coming for Bent for being number 4
Read up about Billy Whitehurst.
Im a complete noob here but isn`t one of the 1st.things about visual presenting to the viewing public to concentrate on letting said viewers view your mouth as you talk.(especially if you talk fast & don`t open your mouth very far). Darren`s ok btw.
This is not the first time Trashford has breached the discipline, if Ten Haag doesn’t deal with him the way he dealt with Sancho, he will not lose the dressing room completely!
Flog Trashford to whoever silly enough to pay silly money for him!
Big Dunc. Mocked Tommy Coyne over losing his wife to cancer. Real hard man. Stay classy guys.
I'm surprised Vinnie isn't on that list. Nobody challenged Vinnie whenever he snapped them.
Underestimating Keane with this Angry, tackles, aggressive narrative- Such nonsense. He was a highly intelligent footballer, positionally, knew when to speed up n slow down the game, never gave the ball away & always available.zipped the ball around when needed! Best in the world at his peak bar Zidane
Gerry Gow, Norman Hunter, Ron ‘chopper’ Harris, Nobby Stiles and Stuart Pearce. Modern day SNOWFLAKE players would not live with these players. All very talented footballers too. Not of the 90s, but forever! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Graeme Sounness and Jimmy Case deserve a shout, too. Along with Jack Charlton. Some of their tackles were unbelievable.
Alan shearer....😮
The guy with Keane didn't have battered sausage he was a battered sausage
Tommy smith liverpool
Goldstain already knows Bents 5 picks.
John Hartson
Billy Whitehurst
cant be a hard man on a football pitch .. dirty tackles and primary school pushing you know wouldn't escalate anywhere lol because there is a ref .
Doesn't take a 'hard man' to jump into knee high assaults on unsuspecting opponents.
Surely Nani should be on this list
Paul Ince? Big time Charlie.
Souness enters the room...
90s premier league 🤡
i always love these kind of topics , hardest footballer ,what the guy who can kick someone while there running and then have a pushing match while knowing there team mates will hold them back, hahah complete joke
Brilliant for Millwall. Nutter
Lee Cattermole
