What would you do for $25K?

  • This actually happened, but let me clarify a few things. Interpreters typically don’t earn such high amounts for interpreting concerts. The significant payment was due to the additional task of interpreting and posting content. However, I was still surprised by the offer.
Not to mention, even though it was just a concert, it goes against our professional ethics as interpreters to take on dual roles. If I were there as the interpreter, I wouldn’t feel it’s appropriate to simultaneously vlog my experience and post content. This would create a conflict of interest.
For these reasons, I declined the offer and provided them with a list of other qualified individuals whom I believe would be suitable for interpreting an event like that.

Having integrity is hard sometimes. For that kind of money I'd definitely practice more so possibly in the future I could take those jobs lol

I definitely could use $25k right now and would be hard pressed to turn it down for something I had experience doing, but I think you made the right decision. That shows you're an honorable person. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family 🙏🏾
