I'll give Ginger Baker his due, but Michael Shrieve who was the early drummer for Santana was the best I've ever heard, of course I believe Carlos Santana to be a better guitar player than Eric Clapton. I'm just asking for it with my favorites but each to his own taste.

Many times I feel like myself but at 17 years old, in that unforgettable 1969. About to start the magical and mysterious tour through life, convinced that I would never grow old. Not me, not my friends and, of course, that we will never die.
One of the reasons for this kind of Eternal Return to my spirit at that time, ever jovial, confident, overflowing with vital energy, sun, joy, is 'Can't Find My Way Home', which we had all heard for the first time the night before, on a mythical radio program in Spain, called 'Vuelo 605', which we always commented on enthusiastically. Because Eric Clapton had founded this amazing "super group". Blind Faith. Wow.
Today I dedicate that song and this incredible video of the Hyde Park concert to my dear old friends José María, Mariano, Anastasio, Pin, Prieto, José Ramírez (both José Ramírez) and especially to those who I knew were gone. Nando, Reyes, Toñas... I hope you found your way home easily.
Do you remember Rocío and Paloma, those two girls who were as friendly as they were beautiful who let us spend hours in the vinilo's section of the neighborhood supermarket, listening to Credence or Blind Faith without ever or almost never buying anything, because we barely had money? I remember them as if I were seeing them now. And to you.
Come with me, let's enjoy Blind Faith together once again. Love U guys.

I heard Clapton say once that they hadn't had enough time together to be as good and tight as they wanted. He said that they never caught up. It's like Mr. Winwood thought his vocals weren't loud enough and he was shouting. Still a hypnotic performance. I think being forced to wing it was good for Clapton. He says he always wished he had stuck with it.

Eric's playing is a perfect fit for this great band , just what a guitar player he is has been brilliantly exposed on this video , his rhythm playing is more than equal to his solos, Ginger's drumming is possibly the best I have heard from him , the much missed Ric Gretch provides superb low tones and the singer does not need any more plaudits , he was a legend then and still is , great stuff , one can only wonder as to what they would have produced given a few years together.

One of the best of the 'supergroups' for sure. I think Clapton was best when he didn't have to take center stage and sing. He's really engaged with his guitar sound here unlike everything later when he's playing a lot of rote stuff. Too bad these guys didn't stick around long as a group, it was probably the creative high point for all of them.

I'll never forget the first time I saw this film, blown away. It gets even better every time I see it...and the cool factor of Eric's custom Tele with the Strat neck is off of the freaking charts!

Liked brownie better than blackie.. but like the sound of the tele here even more... it sounds like a hollow body to me tho.. perhaps some clapton guitar experts would know.. and sea of joy is really emotive.. love it.. raw voice and all...

The songs written by Steve Winwood do have a Traffic feel to them. This is one of his absolutely best songs for his whole career. (1965-2020) What a career, he actually played at clubs in England when he was 12, I only counted after he joined The Spencer Davis Group at 16 and became their lead singer!

Very nice filmmaking in the tradition of the time.
A very enjoyable hour all round, several times over 😂
One of many particular highlights: the way Clapton exploits the changes cleverly in his solo in ‘Under My Thumb’.

When they announced Under My Thumb, I was thinking, "brother just like any other lousy cover band, give me a break" Then Winwood started singing and it was like "ohhh, nooo it's not just any cover band" He's even better live than on record.

Honestly I have never ever heard a drummer that comes close to "Mr Baker"!!!~ He was in Hawkwind for about 3 years as well. When I 1st heard their album Levitation (1980) The opening drum roll to 'Who's Gonna Win The War' (the 1st song 2nd side) got me2 immediately checked the cover for lineup change & their it was 'Drums Ginger'. He is to drums as Jimi Hendrix is to guitar 1
