It’s me again. I’m 81 tomorrow and I’ll say it till the end. They were GREAT! Steve did it all. Played every instrument and let’s not forget “Cant find my way Home”
Just opened this up this up on Saturday morning. I had forgotten how tight and Great band they were. Great concert!!
I believe they have changed the world for the better for our future
Traffic was an incredible good band 😊
Happy belated birthday! I just hit 68 a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been starting to get depressed thinking that all the good stuff is in my rear-view, but your post cheered me up a bit. Glad to hear you’re still enjoying life and you’re 13 years older then me! I’ve got at least another 13 years!
Peace,

Steve Winwood is probably one of the most unassuming rock gods ever. A gentleman superstar.
He doesn't need to project any attitude - because he can prove so much as a singer, as a songwriter, as a guitarist, or as a keyboardist that he doesn't need to. It's the guys who aren't sure of their talent, who suspect that they're just lucky, who have the ego problems.
@@Baribrotzer You wrote what I always think! Perfect description!
I saw him a few years ago open for the Allmans. He did a complete block of Traffic Then some single songs from Blind Faith and a few other Albums he's put out during the years. He played Keys, Guitar and Sax. So, when it was time for him to come out and Jam with the Allman;s , Greg Allman just had him sing. No instruments. Steve so upstaged the Allman;s. He was just smiling with his hands behind his back, He was definitely speaking to the crowd with his eyes. Greg Allman was just pissed. Never shook his hand or said anything to Steve. I like the Allmans;s also. Buttttt, they should have opened for Steve.
The Allmans were lucky to even be on the same bill as Steve. - @@laredolenny682

69 here . No mistaking Traffic. One of the great bands of all time. Along with so many others through the decades .
Im 3 1/2 gotta poop
Steve never looks stressed. Always looks laid back and cool. He just goes out and plays like he's just jamming with some friends.
I always felt the same about Jeff Beck.
That's very true....
Good
Last saw the dead Traffic Jam in 94 Vegas...
@@leechild4655 Well, Stevie seems like the boy next door, but in my opinion Jeff was a comet from another galaxy - but always encouraging the other players to jam with.
Exactly
Even in '94, after 20 years, they could just comeback and effortlessly become classic Traffic.
I never thought of this but you are so right. 20 years on and they are bang on point. You can see poor Jim struggling a bit but Steve just rolls right along. Looking so young too. Wonderful players, wonderful music.
Can I play Drums, Percussion instruments, Congas Bongos & xylophone etc..for them again.
As humble as Winwood can be, he has always been respected by the greatest rock musicians in history. He is what is considered to be a Virtuoso in music, So many different instruments he can play well, such a great composer, and a superb singer. His contributions to the rock history are endless.
There's a song around this time ...going like this " it was blind leading the blind...." . Can someone please remind me or help me find out if anyone know.

And he has one of the best voices. Incredible talented Musician. Guitar, piano, vocals. And nice guy.
Great steve
He's a legend
What a great concert to watch while staying home on a Sunday afternoon. I also pulled out my "Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys" album purchased in 1972. This is one of my fav albums. Traffic is one heck of a funk rock band; heavy on the funk. I'am 78 years old now and still rocking.
My man! 67 here and still taking names.
Long live rock
Yeah is true 👍👍👍
THIS IS GREAT EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK AND TWICE ON SUNDAY..
PEOPLE YOU GOTTA LISTEN TO THE "ON THE ROAD"ALBUM WHERE IT'S ALL OF THE BOYS INCLUDING CHRIS WOOD ON SAX (RIP) AND THE INCREDIBLE ROGER HAWKINS ON DRUMS,REEBOP KWAKUBA ON TIMBALES AND CONGAS,DAVID HOOD ON BASS,JIM CAPALDI ON PERCUSSION,AND OF COURSE THE MUSICAL GENIUS STEVE WINWOOD..
Met Jim Capaldi the drummer and George Harrison in a camera shoppe I worked at in Massachusetts. What a cool guy. Got to chat with them both for 30 minutes and got an autograph. Best day ever.
Wow! Met them in MA too! They were staying at a health center in Lancaster and we all got snowed in! Best time of my life :)
Good grief, Todd, what a memory that would be. You would be really lucky just to meet even one of them!
Wow you two are lucky
I, too , met Jim Capaldi at the NAMM Show in Anaheim CA years ago along with session drummer, Jim Keltner. I was able to add both of their signatures to a 20" Zildjian China Cymbal which now has 137 additional signatures of the music world's greatest recording drummers, percussionists and drum educators. Have know Walfredo Reyes Jr for many decades. He is also one of the greatest now drumming with Chicago.
Down 2 superstars an still sounded great in 94 !!!
Steve winwood has to be one of the most talented musicians that ever roamed the earth.
He was already super talented when he was really young.
Stevie kept company with some of the best Clapton,Paige, Harrison, Frampton. He always shimmered brightly amongst the celestials.
Eh- one hit wonder Winwood.
Funny thing 5 years of hits produced by Winwood Mason :&,Cappalldii think that gives them a little more than one hit.

I love Traffic! 🙂
I always love a good Traffic jam.
A Traffic Jam? A good analogy!
Good one !
@@brendabaxter4045 I didn't invent it. It's literally where the name came from.
I was at this show. Traffic by far was the biggest surprise for the whole weekend. I couldn’t believe how great they were. I was amazed that Woodwind played guitar for the whole set (I associated him with keyboards). Still blown away almost 30 years later.
Winwood plays keys in the middle of this set.

What a superb band Traffic . Winwood is a brilliant multi instrumentalist , singer and writer the like of which doesnt seem to be around these days.
The music takes me back to very happy hippie days when life was so good and music was the best.
I was lucky enough to see the original Traffic at the Academy of Music in NY way back in 73 with Dave Mason and Chris Wood. The best music ever.
You are lucky to have seen that great band. I only managed when they were a trio and afterwards whenever I could.
Was therv for the Friday Late and both Saturday shows. Saturday late with Mason is one the best shows I ever saw!
When did Dave Mason leave the band?

One of the truly greatest musicians of all time. Steve Winwood!
Winwood is a God
Steve Winwood = prodigy
One amongst a bunch in that era, for sure. He, like Eric, still does a real good show. I can do without Jagger in his Spandex. Enough is enough !
Blackmore and Candy do a nice show. He looks great and still works the strings well. Ozzy.......not so much. Ian tries......
Good times never to return.I dont miss them but I'm sure thankful of the memories and clik clik clik ability to "re-live" them for a minute or 10
I cant listen to new shit like my 90 year old/old man says the Beatles make him need to go sit on da terlet...LOL.He Jams Andy Williams and Steve and Edie in his ride.
I agree
Yes he was and still is. Winwood came up old school. Old school has been obliterated for the likes of (boring and disconcerting and redundant) rap and hip hop and pop sludge that are so autotuned, melodies chopped up to Hell, every "singer" sings the exact same patterns of notes because two guys in Nashville literally produce all this junk. to become a star you gotta bend over wide open and take it up every orifice from old Jewish men who own and run the entire business since Marconi.
Steve Winwood has one of the most unmistakable voices in music history!
Still listening 2024. ❤️
Winwood, like Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, are intricately crafted musicians who reached mid-level fame, to be gifts to all they touched. Steve is a ghost of the spirit that resides within the musical minds of a generation. He stays with you, always current, always listenable.
Winwood's guitar here is impressive!
RIP Jim and Chris, you're both missed!
STEVE WINWOOD, TOP of his class, he is simply amazing,.such talent..all the musicians here are incredible. Just amazing......
He sucks....want a real guy. Get Trevor.

Million dollar talent in a 5 dollar t-shirt. I love it.

Nothing flash or showy about SW.
Thankfully.
Stevie just mite the greatest and most well rounded musician of this era! The voice! the songwriting! the guitar playing that no one talks about! Ask Clapton! I bet he will agree with me!!!! ( Blind Faith)! WOW! I forgot his amazing Keyboard playing!

Stevie Winwood and Traffic what a Band
They sound better than ever! Glad this concert was recorded ✌👍
Yes! Same here MD. Many of us do not get to go to concerts: It's amazing what modern electronics can do. Listening to concerts at home ... priceless! Thank you for a good comment. It reminds me that I have it better than I thought I did. Have a good day, night, or whatever.
I,m 79 now and I still love this band. Still have my yellow TRAFFIC. T-shirt . Sorry youngsters. WE WIN! Our music is better than yours and will never get old. LOng live the guitar solo!
Only 62 but I totally agreed
Loved Winwood from Spencer Davis through Blind Faith and Traffic...I love Traffic the most. Winwood/Capaldi wrote some great stuff. 90% of the kids in the audience know nothing about the history of the music of the 60's/70's. But, it's their responsibility to keep it alive. We did our thing. Now, it's their turn. Just don't fuck it up!
Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio said it best , Long live rock n roll !
60 years old. God bless you ☯️🕉🙀🐾🙏👍💊💊💊💊
I know right. They would give their left arm to go back in time and meet us roll a fatie and laugh together
I have listened to this at least 50 times. Steve's voice was the background music of my childhood in the 1960s and I didn't even know it! All I knew was Spencer Davis Group or Blind Faith. I didn't realize that his voice was the thread woven through so many memories. God Bless you, Steve! I love your music.
It's amazing how many times I've come back to hear this track. Glad to see I'm not alone! 😊
Traffic's eclectic mix of rock, funk, soul, jazz, folk, and blues is so magical, I don't think any other band has ever duplicated it, or ever will.
Steely Dan to some extent fits the bill though they were more on Jazz

first saw Traffic at the Fillmore East in 1968, and every acquaintance and music lover I know has marveled on their music. RIP Capaldi, Wood and those lost from this generation. LONG LIVE US ALL!
Saw Steve in June 2016 and was absolutely blown away! Sounded like I went back in time - everything as tight as ever AND with good vocals - no cheating on the high stuff. Good god - who would have ever expected that the little kid I saw behind that big B3 in the SDG in '67, who was blowing us away even then!, would still be cranking for over 50 effing years! Multi-instrumental prodigy - but also one of the BEST tune-writers, which is often overlooked. ...Rock on STEVE!
Born to do what he does....with excellence!
i 2nd that
I saw him at the Hollywood bowl in late 2017, and was indeed awesome.
We saw the Low Spark Tour in Atlanta 1971. In my top 5 concerts of All Time
I've seen Stevie 5 times
he is just as good today 2019 25 years later. A timeless musical genius!
In '94 SW had been singing /playing this tune for nearly 30 years > Spencer Davis Group !
Like fine wine, SW keeps getting better with age ... :-)
Yep still as good as he was in the 60's I love Traffic. Lots of nights as a teenager in my room lights off listening to their music. Happy Memories
I was at this concert! They where only band that put out this amazing 60's vibe. I wish you where there. Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!
@@dougpotosky4102 So do I. I saw Steve Winwood with Eric Clapton at the Hollywood Bowl. What an incredible show. They played together most of the evening and featured each others material.
25 yrs later and the first 5 notes give me goosebumps like than !
A very good friend of mine , who has seen virtually every great band from that era , still says to this day , that no band was better than Traffic live . Stevie Winwood is just sheer class.
+ThefightingCelt would never argue that point...Stevie Winwood was a gift...truly a professional too...
It is all just personal taste. Everyone likes certain bands. Like your friend I saw everyone there was to see from about 65 on, and saw Traffic, liked them but wouldn't put them in the top 5 or 6 shows I have seen. Doesn't mean they aren't great.

It's all good. No need to compare. Stevie Winwood and Traffic is just great. I still love listening to Traffic after all these years. I just love this sound. I can't say enough. I just love a flute.

WAY better.
Thanks to whomever put this up on CZcams!
GIMME SOME LOVING A SPENCER DAVIS GROUP TUNE..WINWOOD WAS GREAT AT 15..
This is absolutely beautiful. I'm 67 and feel like 16 all over again. It brings back the first moment I fell in love with Traffic in 1968.
Ditto here..Same age.. Back then, the first time i heard "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" I thought at the beginning that was Steely Dan, then I heard Steve's voice and i was like, wait a minute! That ain't no Steely Dan...And that was my introduction to Traffic! 🤭
I was totally bought right away!
A superb vocal performance by Steve Winwood. He's right up there amongst the very best for sure.
Stevie is an outstanding lead guitarist, completely underrated!
lopezb
Wouldn't say that Steve WINWOOD is underrated,
He was recognised in the 1960s as a very talented teenager, playing and singing with The Spencer Davis Group, by musicians and fans alike.
I don't think you need to be repeatedly in annual polls to be classed as a great musician.
mark heyne
That's a fair response, to my comment.
Not everyone realises that he is really good on guitar.
But I dare say that an awful lot of music fans, that were in Britain in the 60s, knew how good a player he is.
Listen to Mr Fantasy , from 1967,
He made us very happy!
mark heyne
👍 😉
I deg to biffer .............. he is quite OK for the music they put out, and the voice is truly extraordinary, but he would not make my top 100 guitarist list
@@porkbelly0713 Agreed. He is a competent lead guitarist and excellent all-rounder but doesn't stand alongside the specialists, except in vocals.
Best Drums livesound Ive heard for years. Both Capaldi and Reyes. Traffic has always been great.
Never realized they actually performed at Woodstock. What a treat
This is not “Woodstock” that was in 1969. But, the second one from 1994 - very much a different thing. Traffic was not at the ‘69 Festival.

Enjoy!!
Being 63 I was able to enjoy Stevie when he was a lot younger and I have to say I have never heard so much soul come out of a white man ever !!! Just listen to him in Spencer Davis' Give me some Lovin !!!
memories of him at the Marquee Club in London 1967, Spencer Davis Group were the regular Tuesday night act
They called him "The White Ray Charles" 👍
And he was only 16 or 17 yrs old.
HE (STEVE WINWOOD) WANTED HIS VOICE TO SOUND LIKE RAY CHARLES..THE RESULT WAS AN EVEN GREATER VOICE IF THAT'S POSSIBLE..THE MUSICAL GENIUS PLAYS EVERY INSTRUMENT IN THE WORLD AND PRODUCED HIS OWN ALBUMS..
Just added it to my PL. Decades, where'd they go...feeling 20 listening to Traffic 😁
Have NEVER seen Winwood play guitar so on point and the band tight. Like others say some of these performances are better than the studio cut! What a treat.
Signs of a great band. The live version sounds almost better than the album track, and this is a complex song with different parts for each instrument. All the musicians are bobbing and moving, but it is not a display for effect - it's their enjoyment and common sense of rhythm. And the song still sounds fresh, decades later.
Amen.
Yea.....really good live performance from a great band and crew....It does sound better than original
Grant Hurlburt very well said
Agree, very well said Grant
Which song are your referring too? It's 78 minutes of music.
This is absolutely BRILLIANT!!!! Fantastic set!
At 73 I still love their music. Amazing trip back in time.
probably the most underrated songwriter/organist/singer/guitarist....a legend
Killer lead player.
This is the most overrated comment in history.
This is definitely one of the best Traffic performances i have seen. Jim Capaldi and the bass player are a great rhythm section, and the whole band really bang out some infectious jams. Cheers to to the uninhibited girls in the 14th, 46th and 68th minutes.
Thanks for pointing out those 3 spots! I would have missed it and what a shame that would have been.
Almost Santana like .
Buongustaio!
Winwood was an engineering master...he had Traffic sounding perfect in a non-perfect setting. Just a really great set.
I was at this performance. When my buddies and I decided to go to this event, we really didn't review the list of acts scheduled to appear. We had a very good spot not too far from the right side of the stage, far enough back that we could enjoy the music without the crush of people closer in. Anyway, we were sitting there, and the announcer introduced Traffic. I was flabbergasted! I never thought Id ever see Traffic live, and there they were! What a great set! Traffic, Joe Cocker, and Nine Inch Nails were the highlights of the whole festival for me.
Pearly Queen, what a masterpiece !
Winwood is GREAT !!!
Steve Winwood is one of the most talented musicians in rock nd roll. still has great pipes too
One of the best concerts I've ever listened to
Same here my friend!
I have seen a million concerts and in the seventies I saw Traffic 3 or 4 times and they were my favorite band until Tool who I am going to see in February and it would really make my year to see Traffic again. Does anyone know when they are playing again?
Does Stevie Winwood ever age?
I have wanted to marry Stevie since I was in my teens and I am way past that now.
Excellent! Not many bands can come back to play live tunes 25 years after recording them for a killer album, and make it all sound as good as the record, everything completely recognizable. That's the superlative musicianship and care of Winwood and Capaldi. Winwood did not even repeat licks in this concert, and they were all excellent. I love the guy for that.
Hes one of the best
Stevie at his best ! He is to humble to accept that he's genius .........but we know it !!!!!!
The guy is great I am 63 and I have been a fan since Spencer Davis, the word genius I feel is used to much for musicians Winwood always played with the best musicians in the world and always stood out and did his part. When we were kids and Spencer Davis broke up all of us were heartbroken and yet all the POP magazines were saying that Winwood wanted to fuse keyboards, percussion and wind instruments ino a new sound and Traffic was born with their record Dear Mr. Fantasy and pop music was changed forever.
Your preachin' to the choir bro. I saw Traffic in the '70s, what an awesome experience....
In the 70's I would follow Traffic all around New England whenever they toured, was treated to a very special night at the New York Academy of Music when the opening band was Fairport Convention fronted by another legend, Richard Thompson. Someone above said the word genius might be a little overused in the world of music but I think both prodigy and genius are appropriate when discussing Winwood.
As did I. '74. Little Feat opened a great show...the good ol' days.
Yes and Thompson, too,
Great performance by some Great performers. Thanks for posting. ❤️🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵❤️
Such a solid performance!
This brilliant, modest , fine man is my hero .
These guys were awesome
Steve Winwood was Prince before Prince was Prince. An ego-less collaborator, he could play any instrument with soul and skill, and that voice...*wow*. This show is a testament to the above as well as the reason "Traffic" was retired when Jim passed.
I believe that Steve was only 15 or 16 when he sang Gimme Some Lovin' with the Spencer Davis group. A truly great talent. He's one year older than I am. Keep on rockin!
16....have a cigar on me.
Steve Winwood has been going this for a long time. What a talent!
There is nothing that comes near this today. Nothing.
Agreed Jack. Most young music listeners today wouldn't know or appreciate a historic band like Traffic, or a musical prodigy like Winwood, if they heard one. Today's music is in a sad state, with rock continuing to decline, and pop music literally canned & pre-fabbed garbage. Glad I was born in the mid-50's and able to cut my musical teeth on some truly great historic music & musicians during the early 60's through the early 70's as it'll probably never happen again. Sure, there's been some good music produced since then, but like you said, "There is nothing that comes near this today."
granted.
it makes me GLAD to be alive... awesome
@@Revolution1117 love traffic & Steve, couldn't agree more. Amazing talemt!
"Music" today, if you can call it that is commoditized. It is throwaway and disposable, manufactured for an audience with short attention spans. Most pop divas have more dancers on stage than musicians, and they lip-sync to pre-recorded backing tracks. It may be a performance, but is it music? And rap? A lot of bad poetry on top of tape loops, sampled sounds, and beat tracks. It's all about the producers skill...no musicians are required. Steve Winwood still tours over 50 years after he recorded "Gimme Some Lovin'." Rappers record a track or two and are quickly forgotten. And pop divas concert days are over once they can no longer dance.
Please remember their awesome lyricist, Jim Capaldi. Capaldi/Winwood another giant songwriting team.

Steve played here in Greenville, SC. at the Peace Center a couple of years ago with his daughter opening up. He played his whole songbook of classics and hits from Spencer Davis, Blind Faith, and Traffic right thru his solo career. The musicianship was spectacular and the vocals really good. This was much, much more than I was expecting. He's a REAL superstar!! And btw soooo much soul!!

Yeah. Remember them back in '67-'68? They were fun to listen to, trippin.
Boy,how great would it be to see a musical genius the likes of Steve Winwood come along now? A truly one of kind person and giant of music!
What an atmosphere! Sound settings and record quality is bloody good as for live!
I saw this tour at Old Orchard Beach, Maine. They opened with a quiet
"Rainmaker" rising up and into the night full of great cranking Traffic music. RIP Jim. Keep playing for us, Steve. Saw Steve and his band open for Allman Bros. last summer. He played so well...Had To Cry was amazing!
Remarkable how extremely multi-talented this band is, still some of the best there are. 🙏
WOW! Now I know why this was my favorite performance of the whole Festival! It even sounds better watching it again. Traffic had this amazing vibe going on. Stevie Winwood is a pure genius! My favorite musician of the sixties & seventies! Could Traffic be the most underated band ever!!!
70 here. Saw them at the Albert Hall in 69 with Jimi Hendrix and in 71 at the Fairfield Halls Croydon (the “Canteen” album) and then many years later Stevie at the Montreux Jazz Festival - always had something about them as a band and that centred around Stevie - a true virtuoso.

Watching this from 1994 and he sounds fantastic as someone in the crowd shouts, I saw him in St. Augustine Fl. in 2014 or so and he still sounded that good and it didn't hurt that he was teamed up with Steely Dan before Beckers passing !
Brilliant - thanks loads to Jam and Psych on MV for providing this fantastic treat.. The sound of a band not only releasing their talents for us all to enjoy but also enjoying what they're playing for themselves.. You can hear the joy bursting out of the whole group without exception.. R.I.P.Jim Capaldi you legend and also Chris WOOD who left us in 1983
Great post. Glad I got to see him with Blind Faith the day man first landed on the Moon(!) in 1969. I stumbled across this and - " forget my taxes!" It is not just nostalgia, this music is just timeless!!!! I want more - the mix of instruments, the range of the performers and the emotionality mixed with the jazz and funk - the drums!!! How did I get this old and not know it? Music like this just keeps the soul young!
what a treasure this is...and proof of what humans, grooving, rocking , sweating together, dedicated to uplift fellow beings, can bring about...a healing event that even after decades past has the power to touch your heart and put a smile on your face...thank you Steve and friends...
Brilliant group of musicians. Seems most of them are multi instrumental. Stevie Winwood is one hell of a musician! Love the way the flute comes into the song "Mozimbique"and changes the tone of the song! Herbie Mann on steroids.
Terrific Traffic, totally Outta Sight !! Woodstock #2 ☮️❤⭐🤩😍🌄🌺🌺🌹🌹🌷🌷🪻🪻🏵️🌠🎥
I was fortunate enough to have worked security for one of the stops on this tour. My station was center stage. I got paid to watch a show that I would have gladly paid full-price to attend. There was so little to do. The crowd was amazing leaving me to watch the show. I will never forget that experience. Capaldi could barely speak. His voice was shot from the tour; however, when it was his turn, he laid it down. Steve Winwood and Prince were/are the most versatile talents in music.
This brought tears. The instrumental sounded like Santana!
Many faithful renditions of their classic songs and more.
Please don’t forget to Chris Wood. Great musician (RIP)
"Don't worry. It's alright. It will happen to you..."
.... and your soul is in the lost and found.
Forever. Freedom Rider
When you remember buying all these albums, going to all the shows and JIM CAPALDI SINGS!
Steve is SO right on the money here!!!!! His voice just kept getting better and better.
He's just so good, such a pleasure to listen to this band.
Over and Over😄

I was at this Festival, it was an amazing 3 days. Some of the best bands ever. Rock and Roll FOREVER!!!
Dig Jim's Grateful Dead shirt.
Traffic is highly underrated.
There is an old B/W clip of 40,000 Headmen on here. It was performed on live TV. It's so brutally fucking heavy and it's keys, drums, flute.
Rest in peace, Jim Capaldi.
GD and Traffic were buddies. They played together
