Climbing a VOLCANO! Fuerteventura Princess Resort - Mount Aguda - Hiking the Island

- My last big adventure was on the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas cruise ship, but this time I'm staying on land! I flew to the Spanish island of Fuerteventura and the very first day, we decided to hike up the side of an old volcano. It was not as easy as I thought it would be, (but also not as hard as it could have been)! This mountain is right behind the Fuerteventura Princess Resort north of Morro Jable in Jandia. #travel #fuerteventura #resort

Hey Morgan. Love the geology focused video. I am a geologist and can tell you that the different colored volcanic rocks represent different mineral compositions based on the type of magma that erupted at any given time and/or different ages/eruption cycles. Geology is cool! Appreciate your and the variety of creative videos you post.
Thank you for the explanation! I'll take "Rocks" for 200, please, Alex.
I get into that zone just going up the flight of stairs to my house! Honestly, my knee is so awful right now with the beginnings of arthritis, thinning cartilage, some fluid buildup and inflammation, and a small tear in the tendon. Pain is ever present and today is a good day.
Ended up managing 6km on the exercise bike. I do love the hiking/skiing/biking videos as it makes my ride to nowhere on Torture Unit 2 more fun and slightly less like hellish torture. ❤
Rugged but beautiful terrain! Can wait to see the resort! 😎😎
❤ this video so much. The rocky/sandy graphics are fabulous. Thank you.
Wow! I've never seen any terrain quite like that in person. Thanks for taking us along. 👍
WOW oh WOW
Wow!! That's a lot of climbing!! And Bravo! You made it to the top, and what a gorgeous view you have from up there🤩 Thanks for sharing this beautiful adventure 🌹
LOL at the thumbnail!
Nice thumbnail Morgan 😮
Nice thumbnail😀! That was some hike & fantastic view!
I love cruising and RVing, but it's very unlikely that I will ever travel to this island. That's why I love this video series and your other land videos so much. What a rugged, yet still beautiful part of the world. Hope you made it to a chipmunk party one night at the lighthouse! 😜
Great thumb nail.... and the video was great too. Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing a fantastic job.
It always seems like a great idea at the start! Thanks for sharing.
Just watched this great video after watching Sunday Sofa Time, we watch all your stuff and love Fuerteventura which we travel to every year but some how we missed this one !!
Alternate title ... ."Junk Flappin' In The Breeze!!"
This vlog was super intense for me. I held my breath through the whole thing waiting to see if you’d make it! I figured you’d be okay since you had your bodyguard with you. The chipmunks were cute, glad they were included.
Oh, Morgan, the thumbnail, you had to do it. Looks good! 😂😂😂
That was some climb definitely not the easiest on foot with all the rocks uneven ground 😮.
But views looked stunning 😍
Great walk! I climb a volcano when I want, I live on the side of one! Ours is little and a very young one geologically. It is in the Se of South Australia and has a famous lake in it 🙂
Hi, Morgan! Love the video!! In 2012, my husband and I hiked on Kilauea and it was amazing. As we walked we could see lava flowing throughout our trek! Soooo hot, but gorgeous! Made it to see lava pouring into the ocean - Wow!!!Wanted to commend you on your thumbnail!! Definitely meets the CZcams requirements🥰
Oh wow. That sounds spectacular!
What a beautiful place man, outstanding filming and storytelling!
Thanks a lot! Are you planning a trip to Fuerte?
Awe... omg those chipmunks are so cute!
I think the white rocks are more limestone like sea bottom that has been pushed up by the volcano and the dark rocks definitely volcanic. So a mix of sedimentary rocks and volcanic. That is my best guess anyway. Geology 101 was 48 years ago!
Enjoyed your video!!! 🎉🎉 you must be in good shape!!!
We get sand from the Sahara Desert every year here in TX.The air becomes thick. It just looks like it's hazy, but it's actually sand. They put out warnings for people with respiratory illnesses during that time of the year. The weather man tracks it on their maps. So strange that sand can travel that far. Our inside floors become sandy too.
Wow. Now that really is some frequent flyer miles!
The people walking up the mountain reminded me of the yodel guys on Price is Right. They climb up and up and then drop off the edge if you don't guess the correct amounts that items are.
Yes! I remember that game!
Loving the thumbnail! You are rocking the CZcams algorithms lol
Haha, thanks. Didn’t seem to work this time, though 🤷🏽♂️
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuidestry a blurry picture of the naked jogger for the next thumbnail! That might work.
Why are there different colors of the rocks? first of all: all rocks/mountains on Fuerteventura (as on all Canary islands) are volcanic. The different colors come from different ages of the particular volcanos and different material they "spit", resulting in different states of erosion.
Wow, that pic of you at the end, amazing shape.
Thanks! You must be the first person to actually watch until the end of the video since no one else has mentioned it :-P
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides I watch all your videos start to finish, even on things I'm not interested in as you always make it interesting (eg. Disneyland).
Great thumbnail... it works...❤
Morgan hiking:
Breathe in, breathe out
Breathe in, breathe out
Breathe in, breathe in, breathe in
Got a machinehead it's better than the rest
Green to red, machinehead
Nice 👍
Are you going to tell us if you tried to recreate that one handed stand again.
Nice Thumbnail. Lol....saw your vid
Haha. Seems to be working!
Amazing thumbnail! I got to climb Mt Vesuvius and it was amazing.
Cool!
Morgan where you once in the circus or did you do gymnastics. Great core strength at the end.
The answer to both of those questions is: yes! That's a story for a different day.
I think the views may be off because this is someplace a lot of people may not think they will ever travel too. Maybe if you share cost and travel tips to get there it will help ?
Excellent video as always.
I can't say I would have considered a hike like that even in my more active heyday, but I do admire you guys for doing it.
It's nice to see that sometimes luxury resort locations can still be adjacent to ruggedly unspoiled areas, and I hope this island can retain that balance (complete with adorable rodents).
If the beach sand story is accurate, doesn't that mean you can lay claim to having walked through part of the Sahara Desert?
I am also very impressed by the gravity defying image of you at the end of your video... if it wasn't for the mountain in the background I would wonder if you hadn't creatively rotated it.
One last question (for now)... where can I find the origin story of your 'hugs or no hugs' references to tunnels etc. as I'm not having luck finding the initial explanation?
Great thumbnail by the way... hopefully CZcams will appreciate how emotive your expression is.
Haha. True! Have I now walked through the Sahara?
About the hugs: I'm not sure where I saw it first, but I thought it was hilarious and adapted it. It's a joke about pointing out a place that looks particularly scary / sketchy / dangerous and saying, "if you go in there you can get a free hug". I know it's silly and stupid, but I think it's funny. :-)
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides
l love that ... definitely appeals to my sense of humour.
Thanks for clarifying.
Wow, that was a hike! Great thumbnail...not the least bit "cringy". Hopefully it will bring in the viewers. GOALS - 100K by the 4th of July! or Halloween.....
Google to the rescue. Who says they don't need internet for a week at sea? I remembered obsidian and basault immeditely. The other types of volcanic rocks are igneous and pumice. Keep us updated if you caused another volcanic eruption.
Nice thumbnail
By the way: there are no chipmunks on Fuerteventura (as on all Canary Islands). What you saw were Barbary ground squirrels, aka Atlas squirrels.
Wow, they look exactly like chipmunks.
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides Even more unnecessary knowledge: Atlas squirrels were introduced by humans to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. It has been recognized that they are pests because they compete with the endemic Atlantic lizard for food. They were successfully eradicated on Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, but it was too late for Fuerteventura. That's why they are now marketed there as a tourist attraction because they are usually very trusting.
I would like to see you recreate that photo of you. I think you can do it
Wow, sexy Morgan at the end !
