I love the "solid wheel catches the wind" argument. Somehow their 80lb beer belly is wind resistant but the wheel isn't haha

There are some YT vids of folks owning both fat boys (with solid and spokes wheels) and their experiences in side wind so no need to guess if and how much it impacts the ride. :)

I have a 2010 low boy and can confirm that the solid wheels are affected by wind. In strong cross winds you can feel it pushing the front wheel, honestly kind of unnerving in strong enough winds.

I own a 2018 pearl white fatboy that I bought new from WarHorse Harley-Davidson in Ocala Florida. I absolutely love this bike. It's not hard to turn ffs. I whip this bike through winding roads at high speeds and yeah I get that a skinny will be easier but it's a fatboy! Ride it, get used to how it turns. The M8 engine has tons of power too. I have 2 cons that irritate me about this bike and thats the sound and the seat. You need to toss that exhaust immediately and the seat kills my tailbone after 30 minutes. So when he says it's comfy to ride, no it isn't! My 2 favorite pros are engine power and the Showa quick adjusting suspension. I raced motorcycles since I was 6 years old, I'm 46 now. I get compliments on my bike all the time. Many at stop lights asking what kind of bike that is.

Both generations of Fatboy have their pros and cons. If I had the money I would love to keep them both. The reality is the new models always have the advantage in technologies. In Fatboy situation the new model has ABS as standard, keyless, LED, automatic turn signal off, less vibration on handles, etc. Not to mention 114 new motor with much better torque. With that said the new model is undeniably a better bike in general.

I own a Road Glide and I recently test rode a Fat Boy. I was expecting having to fight it in the turns, and I didn’t really have any issues with it. It seemed to me, that I had to be a little more aggressive when cornering, but I never had to “fight” it. If that makes sense? I think it’s more getting used to it, than it is a fight. I didn’t make any continuous turns like a roundabout, but I made several 90 degree turns and had virtually no issues.

Let me correct you the old school Fatboy was in movies and has a storied history. The fact that I keep seeing the new fangled , Redesign compared repeatedly to the original Fatboy does not vote well for the new redesign. This new bike is a completely different bike , other then solid wheels and the borrowed logo, it’s just something different. HD should have went with a different name for a total redesign that way you don’t handicap it out of the gate comparing it to the Classic Fatboy.

The M8 Fatboy’s take some time to get the handling down. When I first bought my 2020 Fatboy I thought I may have made a mistake and was upset because I didn’t test ride it. I got the 30th anniversary and there were not test rides on that bike and I just didn’t think I needed to either...loved the look so much of the 30th just went with it. Anyway, on my first ride I was like, hey this is a bit hard in the twistys but recalled reading many reviews say you just had to get used to it and it would become second nature. I have about 300 miles on mine now and I love it and feel like I’m getting it down in the corners. I also have a 2020 RGS and when I jump on it I do feel it is easier to lay into a corner, not necessarily better, just different and I’m ok with that. I will say the Fatboy has me grinning much more then the RG does when out and about.

When i was Young 50 years Old I would always keep one Crotch Rocket . But The sound sold me on a Harley ,I Rode a Knucklehead in 1963 and it never took Speed was king so i was 50 before i Bought a New Harley . Nostalgia .

Ive got a 95 evo fat boy and a 03 tc carburetor fat boy. I love my evo but i barely get to use it because I got spoiled by my stage 3 screamin eagle tc fat boy, man that thing hauls ass! I don’t care about going fast too but the evo is just too slow for modern traffic where torque and power could get you out of sketchy situations. I use my evo on short solo rides and the tc on long group rides. It never lets me down on overtaking. My evo however, i had to think twice before i commit. Theres one incident where a shitty ass old corolla decided to not let me pass and started accelerating when we were side by side. Man if only i had my tc that time, i would’ve passed him even without dropping gears and put bus length gap on him. Like i said, I’m not about speed when riding but its better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it so I’d pick the tc for classic look feel and power if i could only have one. Maybe someday ill add the m8 in my fat boy line up.

17:54 "I know the 114 it's a better paltform as far as the engine goes..." Not true, not true at all, the 110 motor has better internal parts (and for that matter, also better external parts like the intake manifold) the 110 is a Screamin' Eagle motor, the 114 is just a regular one.

Ruining a great platform by putting too wide of a rear tire to appeal to the want a be crowd. I can squeeze a 150 on my 02 FLSTF, bumped it up to a 95 cube, higher lift cams, a Mikuni 42, a Screaming Eagle 2-1 race bike minus the disks, K&N airbox, scarped the floor boards for forward controls, and 18 inch apes. It loves the corners, out pulls the new bikes, and I only drag part of the kickstand now.

I don’t like the M8 totally redone bike “they call a Fatboy “ it don’t have the flavor or the look. I’m my mind the Fatboy was killed off. Keeping only the solid wheels don’t make it a Fatboy, nor does it look near as good. Yea it’s faster, but if it was all about being faster? I’d buy a fuckin Yamaha, which is as soulful as the new generic namesake, No Thanks!

The simple truth is because people are still comparing the Fatboy to the revamped something else entirely does not votvwell for the new machine and only galvanizes what I’ve already said. HD made a huge mistake stealing the Fatboy moniker after killing off the Fatboy. This bike might enjoy higher sales had it had an original identity and not one it poorly imitates
