I can see in the comments people anxious about the large number of people.. masjid al haram is a sanctuary. As a Muslim I know as soon as I've entered into the haram I need to be extra careful not to do any wrong even pushing someone out the way. We all remind each other of patience. So Hence millions of people can gather knowing it's a sanctuary. The one place in the world where rich poor all skin colours and ethnicities are wearing the same clothes. Theres no way to tell who's a millionaire and who's poor. The black person stands next to the white one shoulder to shoulder humbled before their Lord.

The stampedes at mecca?
On 24 September 2015, an event described as a "crush and stampede" caused deaths estimated at well over 2,000 people, suffocated or crushed during the annual Hajj
@L N I could care less I have no urge to go to mecca like I have absolutely zero urge to go inside any temple or Church.
Just pointing out that people do shove and push
As above friend said it doesn't happen.
@L N well said
This guy is the most hard working creator I've seen on youtube and I'm obsessed with youtube. He's got like 10 channels and he puts long well-produced videos out for each of them every week. Madness.
He has a whole team behind him but yea, the level of organization to get all this stuff out on a schedule is pretty amazing
He is more hard organizing than hard working.
Credit due to all my writers and editors :)

It's a vicious circle, he needs all the channels to earn enough money for his cocaine addiction and he needs all the cocaine to single-handedly present on all of his channels.
The Grand Mosque of Mecca is truly awe inspiring, a spectacular vision to behold.
Also please make a video on the Holy City of Medina which is also a vast, breathtaking and profound place to visit.

To my non Muslim,
Those who think we worship that black square cube, are completely wrong. That black cube is only a symbol of direction, that we all muslims bow down to. It could be of any space and size.
To my muslim: For those you consider Kafirs, or infidels, their faith (including idols) is just their symbol of their personal way of recognizing the manifestation of the supreme Lord. It points the in the direction of heaven.
@@victor256in except we pray to that direction because god told us to...
@@xOneEyedGhoul I know. God all told us various things in various language in different parts, of the world and expected us not to respectful with others- and not treat the other as the infidel.
@victor256in first of all kaffir is simply the name given to non-Muslims just like how Christians call non-Christians infidels how the jews call non-jews goyim. As for idols, they can't be considered just a symbol if they admit to be worshipping the idol itself.
@@victor256inand? To them their faith and to us our faith? So what's the problem? Is it the word kafirs? Well they are? A kafir means someone who doesn't believe in God. What's the problem with that? We are also "kafirs" according to them.
May Allah SWT guide those who reverted to Islam, to the true teaching of Islam and being an obedient Muslim, will grant them and all the Ummah with a place in Jannah.

excellent and very interesting video thanks for sharing but would have liked to see more of the surround areas outside of the kaba area
Some good info in this video, but I noticed that the only disasters related to the mosque mentioned were the ones under Saudi custodianship. Would’ve liked that you mentioned other major events like when the Ismaele Shia group, Al Qaramitah sacked the city and stole the black stone to the eastern province in the ninth century.
In fairness to him, his channel is more engineering focused, not history, the ones you mentioned are too irrealivent to the topic (The ones he mentioned were civil engineers mistakes, and I don't know why he mention AL-Juhaiman, but understandubly he won't go over all of the history of the mosque).

For those saying that it must stink to high heaven of body odor around the Kaaba, I'll just interject that it actually probably smells of frankincense. Many families hang all of their clean clothes in one room and then light frankincense. It permeates the clothes and, if memory serves, is a spiritual tradition and is used to purify the air and clothes against contagion.

Sometimes I dream of the day I get to visit Masjid al Haram, Masjid al Nabawi, and Masjid al Aqsa and I see myself bursting in tears and kissing that blessed ground. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
- actually, there have been darker periods in its history: Umayyad forces assaulted the city in 683, during which a catapult strike shattered the Black Stone, while Qarmatians actually took it away for 23 years, in 930
- the Saudi expansions not only destroyed Ottoman-era structures but even historical sites from the very 1st generation of Islam
- the Saudi royal family's private skyscrapers have effectively restricted the further expansion of the mosque in that direction
True
It should've have an independent council to oversee the expansion or reservation for Mecca. But that will create a different problems.
Why does an ottoman era fortress matter when it restricts the expansion of the mosque, the hajj welcomes more and more pilgrims each year, do you want a stampede?

Not sure which channel this should be in. But a program on the Logistics of the Haj would be interesting. I have been to Jedda several times, where most flights come in and it is expansive where they land and off load then take off (minimal fancy terminals, just tarmac and buses). And then there is where do you house and feed several million people who are visiting.
Upvoting this. Hajj logistics is insane and it's a miracle they pull it off every year. Not just Mecca either, it's the entire end to end Hajj including housing people in Mina and on Arafat in temporary tents and accommodation (not to mention ablution and toilet facilities), plus the transport and emergency services infrastructure required...it's a gargantuan undertaking.
That would be a Megaprojects video on its own.

Hi Simon , excellent work am thump up all the way.
Just to add some history of the holy mosque.
Adam the father of human race , build the Kabba and warship God in that spot.
According to the prophet Adams grave is in one cave at the mountain of Makkah and there are many.
Ibraheem rebuild the Kabba with Ismaeal, all main prophets made Hajj.
The place also was the meeting point of Adam and Eve at mountain Arafat.

Thank you for your great work and unique presentation
Brilliant to shine light on massive and unique buildings from different faiths.
9:02 I mean not necessarily to those who challenge the ruling family, what would you except should’ve been the penalty for those who committed violence in the holiest place for Muslims where as you said violence isn’t permitted in sight even with trees you don’t have politicalize everything, and if you think the royal family should’ve stepped down and you think that would’ve been better for Saudi Arabia keep in mind those insurgents weren’t gonna support your western views either it is a matter of culture and religion it’s not about oppression

Great video !!! As a muslim I want to thank you for your hard work and correct information, just a slight thing I wanted to make clear, we muslims do not believe the illustrations in the video to be of the real prophets or in this case (Hagar) Abraham’s wife, or any illustrations depicting prophets/holy people to be real. And lastly we do not worship the Kaba, we worship Allah, the one and only true God.
Hagar was actually Abraham's concubine. She was originally his wife Sarah's maidservant; Sarah (at the time Sarai) "gave" her to Abraham (then Abram) so that he could father a child, as Sarah was too old to have children.
