The Matrix was one of the most popular and revolutionary movies of the 1990’s -- so it’s only natural that the early 2000’s gave us some sequels. The only problem is, it clearly wasn’t really designed to be a trilogy.
The Matrix: Reloaded definitely raises some questions. Like how exactly is Agent Smith now free and able to copy paste himself? Why are we spending so much time in Zion talking about philosophy and politics? How is anything actually a problem, now that Neo is straight up Superman? How can Agent Smith travel through phone lines into the real world? How can Neo control machines in the real world? Why does the Architect use so many big words?!
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to The Matrix: Reloaded! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

"I guess they're programmed for couple's drama. I don't know what's going on." was the best.
Does Ryan not understand that these programs have artificial intelligence and are actually capable of experiencing love, hate, jealousy, and other emotions? They're not simply mindless NPCs. This was one of the major themes of these movies that he somehow failed to comprehend.
Galactic Avatar actually they cant. The pakistani guy explains they really cant. But they just "simulate" it
Well, the whole point of all 3 movies was that the AI is so elaborate that they are basically humans. The only difference is that all programs have an initial Purpose they must follow even if they twist their understanding of own purpose (like Smith) while humans have free will. The only program deliberately created without a purpose was the little indian girl, making her basically a human without a physical body...

Tbh the scene in the mansion that transitions into the car chase is one of my favorite action sequences of all time
I’m curious. What did it for you? The complete lack of logic? Or the terrible CGI that made the special effects in 1980’s films look remarkable?
@@marks6734 I think it was the excellent choreography and the amazing soundtrack.
@@marks6734 the effects in the car chase are good. And the mansion fight is all practical.
It's the Agent Smith Burly Brawl that has dated. And it's completely unnecessary so it feels redundant on rewatches.
Tough I hate this sequel and the next two. I actually like the fight and the car chase think is good. At least until the truck scene. The fight up there just look as a video game. And lets not even start with the flying finale. Luckily they had strong clothes that resisted that rescue.
They spent like 5 minutes being used as punching bags, being we already saw Neo fight off hundreds of Agent Smiths, were we supposed to be worried about 4 people?

We made the perfect standalone movie with the first one. This one is totally unnecessary.
Actually, our finance team says this is totally necessary.
Truth.
I think that sums it up nicely!
The lore is exciting. Especially animatrix.
The only loose end was what Zion is, since they talk about it but never arrive there.
The first movie was in no way a stand alone movie. We only saw Neo begin to embrace his powers but we still have humanity enslaved and a enemy of machines ruling over the Earth. All he does is say he will open people's eyes and flies off. Other than "killing" Agent Smith it wasn't the end at all.
They had already planned to make a second and third one while making the first one, they just made sure to make the first stand on its own just in case they didn't get funding for the next two.
I always thought this was the fight version of a musical. Instead of breaking from song to speak for a little bit, they broke from fighting
This is hilarious
In the new Matrix movie, agent Smith finally kills Neo in the opening act. Then he grows old, raises a family and sends Trinity emails to stop the new Termin... _uh..._ Agents!
So, the Architect built the Matrix. What's he going to do?
"He is going to talk. He's going to talk so much... and using fancy words like Ergo."
I always thought the Architect was like a pretentious college Prof. who likes to use fancy words to show how smart he is but is really just full of it.
I actually fell asleep during that part of the movie and woke up when the credits were rolling up... didn't even bother to see the "Revolutions"...
I thought it was cool that they had the creator of the internet, or rather tcp/ip. I didn't care too much about the dialogue, but it was definitely an interesting move for the movie's theme
I actually know someone who talks like that. He uses words nobody has heard of like ultra vires and then has to explain those words because nobody knows what the hell he's on about.
Bill Choy this is almost always the case. Bla bla bla. Neo should,ve just been like "Say hello to my BOOMSTICK!"
@@astralfrost6626 there's a condition for people who use big words like that, it's called sesquipedalianism. See if that fucker knows that word.

3:40 "Can he just step back through the doorway and be somewhat closer?" I can't believe I never thought of that
I mean, by all rights, he should actually be able to just teleport anywhere inside the matrix, since he's supposedly not bound by any rules of reality in there.
@@JakkFrost1 he would need to learn that off screen first
No, the both passage end up in mountain, the passage he entered was a portal but that is closed
He couldn't be closer because the doors can only be opened into certain places by using keys.
Yeah, except he was running for a door that was a portal from the mountain chateau to a parking garage in the city, and when they closed the door on him it "deactivated" the portal connection and just became a regular door in the mountain chateau leading outside.
"Why didnt he fly away in the first place?" I always asked myself the same question lol now I know the answer
The story of cinema:
“We figured the sequel is unnecessary, but then money, so....”
I know people take a crack at the CGI in this movie but i feel meta wise, it adds to it. Like... the fight is so badass, the game cant load all the textures
It also was pretty much unnoticeable on the CRTs most of us saw this on the first time. It's really a modern phenomenon, people dissing the CGI. It looks a lot worse on modern ultra-high-def LCDs than it did on fuzzy CRT or plasma screens
I just dig it. It actually makes the movies better for me for the reason i stated above. It also kind of reminds me how in anime the quality goes down as the amount of key frames goes up for a fight sequence. Ive always dug that

Agent Smith was "freed" when Neo scrambled his code at the end of the first movie. But when Smith was rebooted, his program was now a computer virus, as an ironic call-back to Smith comparing humans with a virus. Instead of an Agent's standard Possession ability, Smith was now able to endlessly replicate himself, taking over both virtual body contructs of plugged-in humans as well as other programs. And sending Neo the earpiece sent the message, "I, Smith, am now unplugged from the machines' collective mind."

Two movies were filmed back to back, surprised they didn't reference that. "The movie will be four hours long." "Or we could split it in two to make more money." "Splitting one film into two is tight." Lol 🤣
Maybe that was the inspiration behind the "Sounds like the making of a great part one" joke
Now I'm glad that they didn't decide to split Justice League (Snider's Cut) in two parts
Before I watched the movie I noticed that they both released in 2003 and was confused about that but once I got to the end and saw the trailer it all clicked that it was split up.

That's one of the things that bothered me about the sequels. Neo was so powerful that he was rarely ever in danger and it encouraged the other characters to be that way, too. You didn't feel as though they were fighting for their lives and it just removed that threat.
Basically the Wachowskis went nuts after the first Matrix movie, it's why outside of this franchise they've had zero success.

@@jacobhoover1654 he is saying that the 2nd movie is so far removed from the plot of the original movie that it cant even be considered a sequel.
This opinion is shared by many fans of the first movie. Many people felt the first movie was a unique and believable concept. A world in ruin which has a fake computer world created by robots that they have to try wake and free humanity from. It was grim and realistic movie with a sense of danger throughout the plot. The second movie was more like the audience just following around some demigod that is never in danger while he flies around and does miracles in the computer world and the real world. The second movie seems more of a joke/parody than a true sequel.
