- As Liverpool prepare to face Aston Villa in this weekend's FA Cup Semi Final, FATV looks back to the same fixture in 1996 where goals from Robbie Fowler and Jason McAteer secured a 3-0 victory for the Reds over Brian Little's side.

How good was Fowler?! Pity his career tailed off with injuries as he was unbelievably good as a kid.
I used to love watching Fowler in the 90s when he was on fire he was awesome and still one of my favourite strikers along with rush 👍👍
That header from Fowler. Absolute goal machine back in the day ❤
that 2nd goal had some awkward spin on it too and he never even moved to position himself for a shot just used the outside of his foot incredible striker my fav growing up and im a utd fan aswell what a player
His movement and anticipation for that second goal is better than the finish and that was sensational.
Always my hero since1996❤
If I remember correctly Fowler had already got a magnificent brace at Old Trafford earlier that season on Cantona's big comeback following the Battle at Selhurst Park Jan' 95. He obviously loved playing at OT that season!.
I've never expected James to play for Liverpool as a goalkeeper
Pity James and McAteer didn't carry that form into the final, utter heartbreak.
Another one of Liverpool’s nearly teams. Great to watch just missing that certain something which turns potential into glory.
robii legend.
Robbie Fowler the scourge of Aston Villa in the mid 90's. Villa unlucky to lose 3-0 that day.
Scourge!
Sanook
He was the scourge of everyone... hat-tricks against Arsenal, always scored against Utd... he was just immense!!
Worst fa Cup final in living memory 1996. Should have spent the afternoon at the mother in laws that day.
was very boring
