"Everyone wears leather, but there's no cows" no. There are people. Lots and lots of people. #grimdark
@@CreateHarmony "Bile wears a floor-length coat of flayed human skin, taken from the bodies of the dead on Istvaan V. Here and there, it is possible to recognise the features of a face, a mouth stretched in an endless scream of agony or eyes wide with horror at the sight of the skinner's knife."
No cows but they have the Grimdark Space variant called Grox, the are very large and aggresive, their steaks are said to taste very good
It's grox leather.
Nevermind someone beat me to it.
I find that less is more for human faces. I’m a pretty amateur painter, but for my Cadian Guardsmen I just paint their faces a solid skin tone and then bucket on some Army Painter Strong Tone, which looks pretty good to me. Humans see faces in everything even when they aren’t there, so by leaving the details out I rely on the general color, shadows, shade and your own desire to “see” a face where there should be one to fill in the details.
Yeah, while watching I'm pretty sure I saw the point where he should have stopped. But this is an honest channel, he shares the triumphs *and* the stumbles. And mom from futurama would love being an inquisitor!
OMG she is MOM! That was a glass shattering moment of realization.
Witchhunters are probably my favourite faction in all 40k, specifically the book you've got in this video. I picked it up in the early 2000s and it was so inspiring. The White Dwarf magazine that accompanied the release had a bunch of people's warbands in which would be perfect for kill team.
If GW release a Witchhunters kill team box, I will be there to buy it immediately.
Back in the day, to give these tiny faces good iris, I used colored micro tip pens. Makes all the difference.
I use two, a coloured dot of half a millimeter and a smaller dot (about 0.01 or 0.02) in black
I read this
Very wrong
I remember the Demon Hunter and Inquisition Codex fondly. Both got me hooked on Warhammer 40K especially Sisters of Battle.
Me too! Those books were awesome
'Absurdly overkill for melting plebs'
I had to listen to that again, such a good passing phrase!!!!
Nice work, Jay, I would have put a thin glaze of black ink over the blue highlights just to blend it in to that black armor a little more. It is Mom from Futurama, now I can't unsee that! 😄
Mom.... 'Now im off to some charity BS for knocked up teen-age sluts''
Oh no, it can’t be unseen!
The Leather probably comes from Groxes: gigantic lizards that are the equivalent to cows as lifestock.
Or, taking a page from the Night Lords, human
You guys are a therapeutic interlude in my day and your theme song literally slaps. Much love. ❤
I have the variant with the sword and bolter/crossbow thing. I painted her armour white, her coat red-lined black and the how at her waist a bright red-pink, as it kinda reminded me of a traditional japanese lady's Obi, the waist sash with a bow. I love the fusion of styles and yeah, the look. Her face is hard, especially with the raised gorget.
I always love your videos! You have an outstanding talent of reminding me why I fell in love with Rouge Trader all those years ago. Keep up the good work!
I loved my old Inquisition force. So much character and conversion opportunities. Also, the cheap Apocalypse army you could run, money-wise. I would bring my HQ retinue and fill up the rest with orbital bombardments. I didn’t say it was a good list, but it was really fun to had a single squad standing on a hill against an entire horde of enemies, dropping explosions everywhere.
9:58 Oh Jay ! You totally got me here !
Awesome video and great mini!
I remember that 3.0-3.5 era very fondly!
Awesome job! Your blending techniques taught me how to do proper fire.
Love your videos. I love your attitude and energy!
I've come to the realisation that my happiness is directly proportional to Jay's smile and wave after the titles. The more energetic the hand, and the bigger the grin, the happier I feel. Just FYI...
Witch Hunters vs Thousand Sons! A Kill Team treatment would be a great backdoor reentry into 40k. You get an inquisitor and Inquisitor's entourage and some Thousand Sons and some tzaangors, because tzaangors are the new edition's ork nobs. You can have a way, WAY! more than you would ever need of them by accident just by picking up cheap, collector's boxes ;)
As for the face, I think (at least what we see in the video) it's fine. Maybe reign in the lipstick. Maybe a smaller dab (maybe a nouveau-primitive-art deco vertical bar) in a darker shade or color. She's meant to be harsh.
Pretty dope! All 20 year old models are amazing!
Inquisitorial Kill Team, that's a brilliant idea. 👍
From start to finish the difference is staggering. You make it look so easy.
Nice work Jay, that sculpt is ready for project runway now!
the mom reference killed me
No better inspiration to get to painting than a new EoB video
Funny you mentioned the Inquisitor game. I collect Catachan stuff and just got my hands on the catachan scout "Toothpick" Murke from that game still in box.
just wanted to say great job on that blue armor
Just wanted to say love your videos man, you have really good content
Been waiting for this since you showed it off in your other video I love these models witch hunter era is what got me into warhammer
Very awesome!
I loved that era of *Hunters. You could make a whole army which was awesome by itself, plus pull in some SM or SoB. I always wanted to make a bunch of *Hunter stuff for a list, then make some Red Hunter space marines for backup and some Sisters for good measure.
Lovely model! Appreciate the grim dark blue armor with the brown cape. While you didn’t like the face, it looks pretty good with it being super old!
An inquisition killteam is such a fantastic idea!
I never thought of that leather one, and I play Chaos
I will be honest it look blue at first glance. Maybe using more than one colour of the goal is to recreate reflections on black metal. Alternatively if we suppose that s blue light illuminates the figure, maybe using blue as a mother colour could help that impression.
I think the issue is that there's no blue light hitting the jacket, or the face, just the armour. That's why it's not selling the 'blue light' effect.
Inquisitor Mom, I love it!
Deamon hunters and the OG storm troopers. Good times.
ahhh dude i love it...this face🤣...really like mom from FR...thx u like always great work...silliness ahoy
Who needs cows for leather, when you've got access to Ogres... Ratlings... Beastmen... Heretics...
That's a great paint job; and I think you did a pretty good job on the face. She reminds me of the Dutchess from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
You're not wrong, you can make leather out of human flesh. It's even been used to bind books.
I still have my old pewter Coteaz unopened somewhere at my parent house. Maybe I should see if I can find and try to paint it.
You are amazing at painting and I love everything about this model... except maybe the eyes...
I really hope they take you up on that challenge. They should put those characters back into all the games.
Here's a tip for fire: It's hottest (and therefore lightest) toward the center of the flame. So you can think of it as painting it the reverse of how you would anything else: lightest colors go in the recesses, while darker colors go on the exposed edges.
Lmaoo MOM
seriously jay your videos have all been excellent lately. All of them!
Bro in the literal best way, she’s giving me NCR Ranger x Mom vibes!
I agree. An inquisition kill team I needs it.
The bolter stake gun and power sword version became Inquisitor Katarina Greyfax.
The Templars do tend to work with the Inquisition quite often. In Space Marine (the game) we see a squad of them help an Inquisitor arrest Titus.
I love Mum!
Simon Pegging the witches!
Omg, the mom crossover didn't even occur to me until you said it.
I once owned two to three of these models. I eventually sold them off, as I had a Dark Angels army, and they did not fit in my scheme. But they were definitely among the best metal models GW had ever produced.
The squats were not eaten by Tyranids but turned into high fashion. No need for cows. Or maybe it was all those old beastmen regiments the guard used to have.
Inquisition kill team, YES. ALL-MY-YES.
Please do a video kitbashing Obi-Wan Sherlock Clousseau. A Rogue Trader weirdo would be the perfect third inquisitor to make it a collection.
woho another vid :D
I agree he looks like Simon Pegg
The most abundant resource in the Imperium is people. The leather is people.
hey, you predicted kill team Squat, now I'll wait for the kill team inquisition :)
I would love to see you make a kill team out of the Witch Hunter inquisitor box. Maybe as a proxy list or something.
Wish we saw more of the inventiveness with plasticard/styrene to kitbash. Along with greenstuff, and all thee other ways to make stuff a bit more uniuqe.
Please please can you paint Karamazov. He looks so cool and over the top and dumb. I’d love to see you do something cool with his chair, or just diffrent marble
I have this model around somewhere.
I would love an inquisition kill team!
The guy on the cover looks like Simon Pegg trying to cosplay as Gregor Eisenhorn
Kill team box of two teams, Radical Inquisitor vs a Puritan. Give a broad list of what you can take, Daemonhosts, heirophants, stormtroopers etc.
Looks good 😊 agree, face is horrendous and you did a great job with, but it looked ridiculous to start so there was only so much you could do! 👍
What timing, I just primed the plasma pistol/power maul version of her
I love the Inquisition one of my favourite 40k factions. I fell in love with them mostly due to the awesome Eisenhorn and Ravenor Trilogies and GMing/playing a lot of Dark Heresy back in the day. I like them due to their nuance, some Inquisitors are psychopathic 'burn the heretic' types, and some are subtle, humane and try to make a difference such as the Inquisitor ally of my PCs in my ongoing Rogue Trader campaign, Azakir Halgriv of the Ordo Xenos. I love how their opposing ideologies and methods can make them clash or gain respect for one another when push comes to shove.
My ongoing fanfic continuity Secret War (which my RT and DH campaigns are a part of) heavily involves the Inquisition, as the main character Attelus Kaltos becomes a Throne Agent.
I miss the rules in the old Inquisition codexs.
That face looks like a raw texture file of a face you find when digging around in old game files
Hey Jay! Great video, the paint job on the weapons and armor are kickass! I've been meaning to ask for awhile how you managed to do the erupting bases for your wraiths? I have some myself and I wanted to try something similar! Maybe do a video in the future to explain how you did it? I also have one more question,
How do you dust and clean all your miniatures on your shelf. How. Are you Mr.Clean?
ACTUALLY yes there is cows! Their skin is mostly used to make veal-paper, for purity seals and scribe scrolls
1:56
LOL, the typo in the Subtitles. - " the same model, this was something GAMESHARE TRAP dabbled with back in the day"
Jay it would've been way cooler if half the face was messed up with burns so the faces uneven sides would make sense
Henry Cavill for "too desirable" is such an obvious pick and I love it
Xenos hunter never came to close the trilogy xD
Why is it always the Raised Layers? did you ever think of highlighting the lowered layers? no, you didn't. You only think about yourself Jay. Nick agrees :P
I think the reason for 3 separate models was to save on material costs, because most people would only need a weapon choice, having stuff for 2 other sets would probably come close to the same amount as the model itself, it'd be much more expensive.
Simon Peg is a witchhunter? who woulda thought
That face is... Rough. But it's a cool model!
I believe they use grox hide
4 pages of wargear to actually customize your characters!?!??$Wwhat a crazy concept
@5:59 *”it’s people”*
You've over did the blue looks like a tarnished copper not a reflection... It really should be shuttle with just a hint of the matral refelecting blue light away...
Thought-leader Elmo is too dangerous to be left unpurged!
It's Brain tanned ork leather.
He looks like Simon Pegg.
My best is vat grown leather from cloned people or whatever livestock animals are in 40k
Kill Team Everyone Loves Raimund, the all-new sitcom coming to Warhammer + this fall.
Must be pleather, or vegi-leather. Or, more disturbingly, “people leather”! I have both of those codices, and they’re awesome! In my opinion, though, Witch Hunters is the superior book.
I like the idea that 40Ks ‘pleather’ is just ‘people leather’ 😂
@@Narcomancer1943 Yeah!😆😆
You good to go painting faces on slanesh chaos marines aka noise marines. This face you painted recall me face of Fulgrim in book titled Fulgrim
i remember buying this new, i reckon its in my room of unopened stuff somewhere.... i may have a problem
I've got one I bought new years ago. And like yours it's currently somewhere in my mountain of shame.
Why is simon pegg on the cover of that witch hunters codex?
This was a rough period for GW. There were fewer Jes Goodwin sculpts, and more "new guy" sculpts, which ended up kinda like this miniature.
Hey Jay and Nick! Ummm sup with the bag light??
That face was unwaveringly derped.
And yeah it looks like Simon .
Plz plz plz make dnd minis paint guide a lot of them plz plz plz love your videos great content ..
Sorry if you have answerd this elsewhere, but do you thin your stynlrez black?
As for the there are no cows, they eat corpse starch seems logical they would wear human leather
can you kitbash a inquisitor?
With a face like that you don't need glasses to paint it, you need beer goggles
