- Recently had a local pickup of sealed INQUISITOR models - so had a read through the book, unsealed and painted some up. And they're HUGE!

This would have been exactly the kind of game I would have become excited about, bought all the stuff and then realized none of my friends want to play.
Its exactly the story i imagined behind the rule book and unopened minis when i saw him showing his purchase
That happened to me with Star Trek Attack Wing. Lol
this was me
They had a Rogue Trader RPG as well it was pretty damn good tbh
Come over here and lets play!
I live in Berlin, Germany. ;)
"How did you get that 6 pack?"
"Every time I fuck up a mini's eyes, I do 1 sit up"
I'd be shredded by now, haha
All I've seen is a book fall in slow motion and this is already the best thing I've seen today.
800 FRAMES PER SECOND BABY! Hector/Health and Safety Frog didn't know what hit him.
@@MSPaints Loved it dude, great video. Loving these retrospective style videos!
....and without that, we would never have got the Eisenhorn, Ravenor and Bequin books. They were initially written as add-ons for Inquisitor (source: Introduction by Dan Abenett in the Eisenhorn Omnibus)
It’s wild that the games they were supposed to promote are gone now, but the books are beloved and widely recommended to people trying to get into the lore
@@AnIdiotsLantern To be fair, most of the games that GW has tried to launch has failed to some extent. Sadly!
There was actually another magainze called Exterminatus that was specific to Inquistior, crazy I know. In fairness a lot of the white dwarf terrain tutorials which were quite a lot more detailed were pretty good. Their 4 part series on how to make an inquisitor table, including all the buildings including a cool temple were great. The La Maison Taal tutorial also stands out in the memory as being particularly good.
I remember the battle reports in White Dwarf being some of the best - they put some great narrative into it and built up a mini campaign over a few issues.
Oooooh i can imagine! Making your own stories in this universe must be great.
@@MSPaints I vaguely remember it involved some cult trying to summon a daemon and two teams of Inquisitors who didn't quite get along. Totally brilliant.
@@rugbymeat Yes, I remember that too! And the post-battle actions were cool too, with the players modifying their models depending on what they went through.
I remember some guy in the warband kept getting wounded and they modelled it as he lost body parts. At first it was the odd bionic hand but by the end he ended up with tracks for legs and was basically darth vader. I pretty sure they summoned a demon in a weird cube at some point.
@@themobius8077 I remember the cube thing. Was a black-green marble slab with hands and faces pushing out of it. Think they had a guide on making the scenery in one issue
By the Emperor!!! How did I never think to use a fineliner for eyes! YEARS I've been doing this hobby and you just blew my mind!!!! Thank you so much! You've just saved me countless hours of frustration you absolute legend!
I was about 12/13 when this game came out and was instantly hooked, we scaled it down to 28mm and made our own characters from kit bashing. Great times back then we used to get spliffed and drop shrooms and get waaaaayyy into the game and lore😂
Aye Mate.
Wow, i can't even take myself to the bathroom properly when i've had a hashish, so respect to you, hahaha
Been thinking about printing large scale inquisitor models too. I hope onepagerules does rules for this.
@@jasonbaxter3658 I know it's a little late but you could always shoot the creator dude a message and see what he says. Worst that can happen is he replies and says not gonna happen
I remember many a fun campaign of this back when it was supported. 54mm scale was really cool and allowed for a lot of unique conversions and creativity, striking a great balance between game friendly 24mm and artistically focused 75mm
“Shh shh Keep it secret, keep it safe” had my chuckling out loud…
Hehehe!
Every time 'Life is Beautiful' plays in one of your videos it never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Haha, always a joy to drop it in. Leave it silent in the edit, drop it in for the sound mix, always works hahaha
I have no disabilities, but your channel is great. I love the intro with the book falling, also I never saw this huge miniatures. They look great
Thank you! I'd never seen them either, and truly amazing to paint.
I have so many Inquisitor models. Loved it had a combat squad of the marines. So much money........
But so much quality miniatures!
Inq28 kinda took over, people could use the 40k mini's they had or could get new ones for it much cheaper. Inq28 is still popular in some places
So i've read! the custom models people make are incredible.
Back when I started I could only afford the Rulebook. For the first few months we played using 40k Models until we could afford the larger ones. Nice to see INQ28 became a Thing (that I now follow)
I was going to mention this. The main thing holding Inquisitor back, I think, wasn't the roleplaying format, but just the scale. No one wanted to buy into a game that didn't let you use the models in other games, or let you use the models you already had.
Inq28 is basically Inquisitor in a scale people are actually accustomed to operating in. Cheaper, too. Plus it's a lot easier to make a kitbashed techno-monstrosity look good in a smaller scale, where the jank details aren't so noticeable.
I used an Inquisitor model to build my Iron Warrior daemon prince, amd I've used other models as statues in other games. Excellent stuff.
They're wonderful! I was expecting them to be smaller, but no! Pleasantly surprised!
@@MSPaints Right? And the fact that they were so much bigger than the standard 40k models made them also easier to modify/ upgrade/ etc. I'll try to snap some pictures of my models if I can find them, and send them your way (if you're interested).
Love this game. Used to play this in 28mm
Definitely something I’ll weigh up doing in the future I think.
I’m definitely not frantically scouring eBay later for Inquisitor models… Class video as always! We don’t need six videos of you on the pan reading the rules, I’m sure one video montage would do.
I can cut that together for you babes!
Just the nostalgic trip I needed while toking a bifta in me shed. Awesome video. 👌
Aww mate Inqusitor is the best ruleset GW ever made imo, we still play this at my club. You can adapt it to anything too, we use it for Skirmishes in Modern Afganistan, WW2 and even lord of the rings. Recomend "the conclave" forum I belive they have PDFs of all the fanatic magazines if I remember correctly.
Man RIP brodie lee. Love the final look if the model 👌🏻miffed i didnt get into the specialist games range when i had the chance
Thank you bud! They’ll probably bring a few back but it won’t feel as special I don’t think.
Love that book, the rules were a bit off tho, always thought it was hilarious that a space marine could do more damage chucking a rock than shooting someone with his bolter
Loving the Dawn of War intro bit. That to me is what Warhammer should be too :)
54mm makes great custom primarch models as it’s fairly close to lore accurate size
They would! Maybe i'll use this guy in a game of 40k, just to see the reactions!
Holy crap…I haven’t seen Inquisitor in 20 years. I’m sure I have a rulebook somewhere but yeah, never played it. The models were ridiculously massive and the thought of building stuff at that size pretty much guaranteed you either used your 28mm stuff, or didn’t play at all.
Great video though! Ah nostalgia…
I had this at uni, I used to pore over the Rulebook... but never managed to actually play a game! Apparently there’s a modern conversion for 28mm though!!!
Built a specialist imperial guard based kill team.
Yeaaaaah assume it’s INQ28 I see on Instagram and stuff. Looks interesting
With the planned Eisenhorn TV series in the background, this is a great game that could do with a massive comeback
"The gun is red, and red is a colour, and the gun will be that colour." Well, that's certainly a sentence that was said. I am not sure why it was said, but here we are.
Seriously though, I have now seen a few of your vids, and I find your style quite entertaining, and informative. Nice work :)
I often get asked about my colour choices, and what the reasoning within warhammer lore is for it, haha. I usually just choose a colour, so that's what that's about, haha
Thanks for posting this video!
Love this game.
I have close to fifty figures, only a couple built stock.
Wow! Nearly a full collection surely?
@@MSPaints sadly no. I don’t have any of the limited distribution ones.
But I think I’m ok with having so many conversions.
I never forgot about Inquisitor I loved it!
Memory of an elephant!
@@MSPaints Dude it was the best game ever! Me and my mate played the shit out of it. The best moment ever is where we got to see a space marine be a fucking space marine. Comes down from low drop smashes into the field controlled by GM FUCKING RUNS THROUGH A GUY smashing him to pieces, leaving him almost dead crippled for life, in one turn he did more damage than most of our whole teams. Tried to stop him with my sniper he takes it like a fucking champ slightly ajusts his aim while running in the opposite direction one hit takes down my guy. Man. If space marines were like that in the game it would amazing. It felt like you finally got to see what they are like.
Seriously best GW game I have ever played!
Round of applause for the Beaver Cleavage reference
Deep deep reference, hahaha
"Even Odo couldn't do faces" hahahahhaha love that
I still have the Rulebook and that gorgeous Inquisitor with his "Terminator" like armour and Thunderhammer. I love that guy.
I also got his female GESTAPO half.
I’ll check em out. I’m tempted by more!
I had a mini in that book! Probably the best bit of painting I did pre-2005.
Not forgotten, we have a group of 11 of us that still plays regularly in my area.
Ooooooh i know it ain't forgotten. Just a catchy title.
epic intro ......... cheesy grin at the end. love it pmsl
:D
My dude...your videos are a pleasure. Just stumbled across you through the collab with Luke. Keep killing it. Refreshing viewpoints, funny, and hell of a sound design with the music choices/flow of the script. Look forward to seeing more.
Loving the content, fantastic camera work and loving your overall approach to the hobby! keep up the solid work!
Dear Dave, Very inspirational! Best Wishes Johnny
Thanks Mr Coop!
Yeeesssss. Health and safety frog is back. Thanks for the awesome vid.
Epic, Battelfleet Gothic, Warmaster, Space Hulk, Mortheim, Bloodbowl and Inquisitor all forgotten GW Games was Great in my Childhood. There a many Armys on my attic...
Up in the attic?! As Aragorn once said ‘bring them down!’
When GW had their Specialist Games section on the website I admit I was very impressed. I managed to build a full Eldar BFG fleet after it had been stopped as a main product. Shame it didn't last longer but it was a blast.
So good man
Hahaaaaaa! Was a blast making it.
Didn't know what the MS stood for before this video. Sorry to hear dude, love your videos.
S'all good! This channel keeps me positive! Cheers
GODS YES!!! THIS, THIS IS GOLD!!!!!!
Thank you!
I bought the Death Cult Assassin Twins a month ago they're really cool, The Vindicare was available for a while as well. I wish Eisenhorn wasn't so hard to find
He's on my list to find! Would love to paint him up
@@MSPaints Facebook is your friend! There's an Inquisitor 54mm fangroup which allows buying and selling, I've gotten some utter goldmines off there.
"War never changes." -Duke Nukem
Jimini Crickets when I read the header I thought "God have GW brought out this old book yet again?" but sadly NO. Still a trip down memory lane did the old hackles on the back of my neck a world of goodness. Cheers Dave.
Bonus points for the Odo reference. Still have my copy of this game and several of the minis. Never played it, but liked the idea of it.
oh Inquisitor! what a game! the models were amazing but omg were the rules confusing!!! i used the models as armatures for many other models!
How did I not comment last time I watched this. We have 3 figures, Artemis, The Arbites chic & her dog and an inquisitor in power armour. The Mrs, in a one off, painted Artemis and it came out very well considering. He now sits atop of the mantle piece. Faces, 1st layer mid brown, then brown red highlights on cheeks and forehead, and couple of layers of flesh on top to let the red seep through. Don't forget the eyebrows.
Love the video, well done. Got me all nostalgic, so I have dug my copy of Inquisitor out for a re-read. I was lucky enough to be working full time when they miniatures came out, so I have the full set, even a couple they recalled like the Vindicare Assassin due to dodgy barrel on the rifle. Keeping them for a retirement project, which is not that far away :)
That intro was fugging amazing, loved the vid mate, keep up the amazing work
Health & Safety Frog didn't enjoy it! But it was great to film. 800 fraaaaaames a second baybay!
lmao @ speak-easy for tabletop gaming... I'd hate for it to happen, but one helluva idea.
The sound of a thousand dice falling off the tables when you pull the lever, haha
What defined my concept of 40k was Dark Hersey circa 2008 and 5th edition. That grimy black and white art just captured my imagination. New stuff is arguably better but that old stuff was all gesture and vibe in the best way. Also, now I do wanna try a scaled up 54mm DND game, glorious weighty metal.
For sure - i think my favourite thing about the grimdark vibe is that even the good guys look all kinds of messed up and freaky. Really highlights the grey, rather than the good guys vs bad guys vibe i feel today.
I wish they would bring this game back it was the best tabletop game i ever played and it was definitely my favourite 😊
I was roaring along with the edited in DOW trailer all three times. AWESOME
Hahaha, every time! Such a brutal roar.
I had the the book since it was released in the 90s and its so much great art, John blanch and stuff. Just found youre channel and you do great stuff
Wow these are really cool !
I love them! Sadly a bit too pricey to collect haha
54mm inq was dope when GW let you buy specific bits, the kitbashes were insane. I had a sergeant stone based dude with his halberd in one hand and Artemis' Deathwatch boltgun in the other and a dude with Covenant's legs, Eisenhorns upper and cloak, Malicant's chainsword in one hand and a power sword in the other or something I cannot remember too well. Rule of cool is the only rule when you are 14.
Starting to become clear why there’s so many incomplete rise horns on eBay! Haha
There's an Eisenhorn on ebay now for £60, if you're still looking and willing to go that high lol.
Man it's a deep cut when I'm like "wait, I actually don't recognize this ttrpg".
I forgot about it entirely until i saw them, haha. Serious poker face was on form for that pick up.
I remember Space Crusade on the shelves but never started until 2017. Got my Inq book at Cancon, new, in 2020.
The 6th model i ever made was accidentally a 28mm Artemis.
Yes every Deathwatch player can make him as a kitbash (except for the flamer bit). He can tank 100 humans and besiege a castle solo. OP.
My goal is to make the rules for everything starting with terminators then dreadnoughts. Next step titans and then Exterminatus.
When you eventually build a 54mm scale titan, you absolutely let me know. I need to see it, if only to justify doing it myself, haha
@@MSPaints my 28mm Lucius Warlord took 3 months to get to basic table ready. This was from blank. Still needs lights and more paint.
I'd never go 54mm sorry. Let's never say never tho. 1:1 c'mon :p
Incredible
Loved this book and I even had most of the white metal figures. Could never find players and not sure where my collection ended up. I used to have all fanatic issues too , purely for the lore nuggets.
Watching this reminds me of 3 things, the White dwarf magazine that debuted the assassin twins, the battle report I read in the magazine and, of all things.. the Dark Heresy game
Mad respect for the Brody Lee comment I really was enjoying your content anyway but I'm definitely subscribed after that
Loved that gimmick! Elevated it better than most ever could have!
@@MSPaints what's your take on some of the new arrivals on the roster
The Rogue Trader RPG was great as well. GW loves to let things to die and to let licenses die off.
Loved it! If I wasn’t trying to paint up an army for LGT I’d finally get round to doing mine. Got Eisenhorn (unboxed) on the cheap recently too, he looks classy at 54mm! Bring on the next video!
I think i will go back to this one day and do an Eisenhorn. He's probably worth doing, haha
Man, I remember wanting to create a Arbites for this, *cough* not Judge Dredd 😅
Think still have the lass with power maul and cyber mastiff in the attic 🤔
Wow, The finished paint job makes the figure really stand out.
It does! For a cheap and cheerful paint job it's quite nice
Working right now but gonna watch when I get home whilst building some Grey Knights!
Thank bud! It's a long one so you should get a couple done in that time, haha
Your vids always have such great music
Haha, i wrote stock music for a long time, so i'm pretty particular. Chill vibes and glassy synth.
Love yer vids! Entertaining and classy :)
Health and safety frog always brings the class!
This was one of my favourites back in the day. No points balance, slightly overcomplicated rules (just look at the rules for range modifiers!) and no direct battle to the death required if you can complete the objectives without it. I think one of my favourite moments was when running a game at Warhammer World, ruling that reckless full auto heavy bolter fire had knocked out the antigravity, and coming up with 3D zero G movement rules on the fly. Great fun!
Just so you know, though, that Space Marine will be totally unusable in your average game - they're just too ludicrously powerful, which is exactly as it should be. Have fun with it, I certainly did. :)
Haha! That sounds like a blast just coming up with stuff on the fly. Good memories bud, thank you for sharing
Great choice on the background music! No objections there.
Thank you bud!
I’m an idiot. I watched like three of your videos before I got your channel name’s word play. 🤦♂️
Brilliant.
All good! I like the idea that it isn’t immediately apparent!
My garage and the neighbours to store scenery...sheeesh
Love it! Great video and yes, we do love our cat pics over on the patreon discord!
And doggos too, i should have mentioned those.
You stumbled on to the hooy grail all those figures in a box together
Yeah, wedged behind a toilet in a Morrisons bag! Hahaha
when it was released i worked as a manager for GW. my staff and myself had a 4x4 gaming area for it. very popular, it was a shame GW didn't support it longer. but as with all specialist games and the historical stuff they used to do. they disappeared
For sure, seems like no matter how hard you pushed it and how much people loved it it came out the gate with a predetermined lifespan. Real shame!
Pretty sure everything when slomo and black and white for me too when I got my copy home.
Hahaha, game so hardcore it trips you out
I ran oje campaign, with multiple folks taking co trol of a single character. Was great fun!
Though terrain is a bitch, we used some standard 40k stuff (which bareky fit) and a few of the missions were based outside or underground.
Still have 3 or 4 guys to paint up stored somewhere... one day!
Yeaaaah! Not sure how you’d otherwise tackle terrain. I suppose you could use it in Warhammer if you did it right!
I never played Inquisitor but I ate up the fluff and artwork that came with it.
Don’t blame you, this stuff is delicious.
Cracking video. I forgot about inquisitor. Im gonna track down a rulebook & try playing it with 40k scale stuff!
Book is only about £30 on average so it's not that bad to get into! Let me know if you get around to setting a game up and let me know how it goes.
The living rulebook floated around for a good 15 years before specialist games shuttered properly so it should be decently easy to find.
Great content mate.
Cheers James!
2001 =][= ... That art work was some Sweet Grim Dark✌️💚
Delicious grimdark. I felt dirty after reading it.
A thing to note, the hit location table in the original rulebook was incorrect and they released an adjusted chart (in a fanatic magazine, and white dwarf I believe)
It is a fantastic game to play, even if you just have a few one off games with a friend. My group used to have two campaigns going, one full scale and one 40k scale using cm instead of inches (direct conversion, easy peasy)
Great video!
Great vid again mate, I m not usually into the cinematography part of youtube vids but really enjoyed that intro. Never heard about inquisitor so found it pretty interesting and also great timing on the candy ink. I just got some to try out so it's nice to see it in action.
Niiiiice! What colours did you get?
@@MSPaints sapphire blue and jade green, I am going to give one of them a try on a model car, just need to pick which one.
You've made a Deathwatch legend look like an Alpha Legionnaire...and I'm actually OK with that. Great retro take on Inquisitor too which most fans today wouldn't have even heard of. I never got into it and was drifting away from the hobby at the time with study, part time work, beers, girls etc. Was interesting to see GW have a crack at RPG via their main brand though. Now the various Fantasy and 40K roleplay are published by non-GW brands.
And they’re probably all the better for having that separation. That’s about the time I drifted away from it too tbh, so I have virtually no original memory of inquisitor! Shame!
Maaaan Inquisitor takes me way back
Big into it when it came out?
@@MSPaints I tried to be but at fifteen and never played D&D I never really 'got it' or got into it despite buying some minis. Like you say in the video, GW couldve launched (or explained or supported it better) out the gate.
Great video 😀Only one of my friends bought the actual Inquisitor miniatures, mainly because they are a great painter and they loved the idea of the scale, but then disliked the reality. 😆I imagine like many others, I played Inquisitor and used at 40k scale. Later with no models via PBM, one of the reasons GW left TTRPG behind, not a big money earner 😉
love the model gives me serious Uriel Ventris vibes
Gone.... But never forgotten.
I figure we’ll see it again one day!
A++ for the Star Trek DS9 reference.
Dude your vids crack me up! brilliant
Hahaaaa! That’s partly what I’m here for!

Sealed Multiple Inquisitor Models. Lucky Bastard.
Need to dust off my Inquistor rulebook & fire up an Inq28 campaign
a good way to fix the surface tension issue with Vallejo metallics is to use a metallic medium to "thicken" up the paint without sacrificing its metallic effect.
Nice one Dave, you dropped that book right on Frogs fun for the weekend.
Fully ruined his quiet Fireman Sam reading time!
Yeah, I clocked Norman Price. Pontypandy’s walking disaster.
If fireman Sam’s primary objective is to prevent fires then all he needs to do is off Norman and jobs a goodun.
Best. Intro. Ever 😎
The bigger scale was ahead of it's time
Way ahead, and very ambitious in metal.
