  • How to become a Medical Esthetician
    Hi babes! Today's video I talk about how to become a "medical" Esthetician. I can only speak on my experience and the state of Indiana, which is where I live. All states are different and have different regulations, so if the medical field is where you want to be as an Esthetician, I recommend doing your own research and looking into your states requirements. I hope you found this video helpful. If you did make sure you give it a thumbs up and don't forget to subscribe!
    XOXO, Emma

    I really really want to work in a plastic surgery office! I think that’s my dream job when it comes to esthetics. I’m going to start school in April and plan on going to laser tech school afterwards, wish me luck 💗

    You are such an inspiration for me when it comes to skincare. You make me more and more passionate, which I never thought I ever would be. 🤗

    Thanks for this video, it was very informative. I want to be an esthetician so bad. I make good money now working for a major hospital scheduling appts but my passion is skincare. I work full time and don't know how I'll be able to support my family while going to school unless I can do night school. I'm gonna start doing my research.

    I left my job as a dental assistant making $$$ to go for what I love which is esthetician and I'm the happiest I've ever been about life 💙 July 21st seems like forever from now 😫 I had to switch jobs to be able to go to school and I don't regret it .

      damn im 18 and those are the two things i was thinking about choosing for a career path, dental assistant and medical esthetician . or massage therapist .

      I second what Keiri said. Your post gives me a lot of hope. I make pretty good $ now but I'm so unfulfilled that I'm getting depressed. My passion is skincare and one day, I dream of opening my own spa God willing. I'm just kinda scared to take the leap and leave my job. Finding this job took me many months. I just don't wanna struggle financially while going to esthetician school.

    You can do injectables as an esthetician in Arkansas once obtaining esthetician’s license. Same with laser treatments etc you just get those certifications working under a doctor and they train you themselves.

    Hi Emma! Loving your videos very informative! I have a question: after getting your laser tech/ esthetician license, can you open your own business and operate or do you have to work under a doctors office?

    In Pa my tuition was about the same, but they only require 300 hours, I have 650 hours but not the school is bumping it back down to that 300 hour mark which I find ridiculous. I would have to go back to get my RN license to do injectables which I don’t think I want to but I am interesting in taking more classes in the medical esthetician field.

  • @2mehraban2
    @2mehraban2 Před 4 lety +8

    yes there are programs for medical aesthetics, the difference is esthetics is all nail, wax skin and makeup but medical is all about lasers and treatments and intense stuff rather than spa stuff! if you want to end up in medical places you need to look for medical aesthetics programs.

    In my state (Minnsota) we have a regular esthetician license and then the ap or advanced practice license. Unfortunately though we cannot do injections. To do injections in MN you have to be a RN. I was a bit disappointed finding that part out but I will be getting my AP license so that eventually I can get a job in the medical field. We also cannot call ourselves ‘medical’ esthetician’s because I’m my state there “no such thing”

    Thanks for the video. I have worked on a cruise ship for the past two years as a waiter. I really enjoy being on the ship but have always had a passion for skin, I am actually looking to go back but as a Esti. Fingers crossed! I know the pay for the ship but Im wondering the pay from other companies?

    In Oregon you have to have a totally separate license. You have to go to school for Medical Aesthetics- and its a separate license :(

    Do you think only getting my cert in laser school (at national laser institute) would be enough to work in a medical office? or should i get a esthetics degree as well

    • @emmakendall8182
      @emmakendall8182  Před 4 lety +13

      I think you could get a job with just having a laser certification but having both laser and esthetic certificate will make you stand out and youll be able to do more and make more money!

    • @ashleyclark5549
      @ashleyclark5549 Před 3 lety

      This completely depends on the state you live in. In Georgia you have to have at the very least an estheticians license to take a laser practioners course to become licensed...as well as any specialty certification like dermaplaning, chemical peels, microneedling.

    So since you have the certification? Can you do fillers, botox,etc ? I’m planning to get certified with the national laser institute, and their program teaches fillers, botox, etc... that’s what i would like to specialize in... i am a license esthetician as well.

    • @emmakendall8182
      @emmakendall8182  Před 4 lety +1

      No, in the state of Indiana you have to be an RN, PA, or Doctor to do injectables. You need to look up your states regulation and see if an Esthetician can inject, if not then you won't be able to do the injector course at NLI, just the Laser course!

      I honestly think that for this specific field it is better to have a hands on training. But that’s only me. The theory is ok online but the practice is better in class

    Hey Emma, whats your opinion on getting your esty license and also an MA license (medical assistant) I’m a veteran and currently reside in VA where there are a TON of medical offices and clinics and such, but I just dont see a high demand for just your spa type deal. I would love to work under a derm or surgeon .
    Bc of my GI bill I’m able to rack up a few certs and thought this would be a plus to my skincare resume.
