This is the best, most in-depth video on the X-Bolt Pro of all those on CZcams. But I have to agree with Jesse, the Browning Pro CF stock SHOULD have been compared with other CF stocks like SAKO's model 85 CF stock.
**In this video I saw a test against a Ruger American stock. GAK! I have a Ruger American Predator and had to epoxy an aluminum arrow shaft the full length the fore arm to stiffen it!
Why not compare the Pro stock to the SAKO Carbonlight CF stock? The SAKO 85 Carbonlight is the closest competitor to the X-Bolt Pro.
I'm waiting delivery on my 6.5 Creedmoor X-Bolt Pro which will arrive in mid October. I compete with 6.5 CM and that's why I ordered my hunting rifle in the same cartridge.
I am very happy that Browning improved their carbon fiber stock to make it very likely the strongest in the industry for the weight. I prefer it over the SAKO CF stock.
And Browning's 3 lever Feather trigger was, in my own comparison with a SAKO Model 85, just as good - and that is saying a lot.
My reason for getting this Pro model was that I wanted a "mountain rifle" and the Pro, at 6 lbs. 1 oz. for the short action, checks all the boxes I had except carbon fiber wrapped barrel. I searched for two years and priced custom builds of every good 3 lug short bolt action on the market like GA Precision and Nucleus among others. But the build price for my target weight was just too high.
Then came the Pro and I really liked its features, especially the weight. The rest is history.

Eric B. Some very solid thinking there. Great research and insight on comparing what is out there VS price, thank you for sharing that. Got me thinking as well, that a Pro may be in my future. I have a lot of nice rifles, but I’m thinking that as I get older and maybe a little wiser, I may pare down the armory to a couple or three VERY nice rifles for the hunting and shooting I do.

Chris Talkington Browning rifles are very nice rifles but you could’ve done the same thing with the Ruger American for about 1/3 of the money

Browning, I get your stock is good, but if you’re going to compare flex, compare it to a real test by measuring against another carbon fiber stock and price point. That’s like me saying my Porsche is faster than my Corolla

Ain’t no way I would pay browning that much for a rifle to kill a deer with I will buy myself a Ruger American predator or a savage axis and shoot half inch groups at 100 yards all day

Can this be run with a suppressor? I've seen some articles stating the barrel is too thin or the threading isn't a standard thread. Thanks

For around 2k you get a factory built rifle with some Cerakote and fluting, Hmmmm lets see here. Typical X bolt Stainless Stalker is around 1K, great price range for what you get.....minus the garbage trigger all X bolts have. The reason these hard core hunters you mention go to a smith for a custom built rifle is just that..... custom...not a factory rifle with cosmetic upgrades priced at custom rifle pricing. Take a Rem blueprinted 700 action, Trigger tech primary, Bartlein 5R barrel, with a $275 B&C stock from stockys….and you will come in under 2k with a rig that shoots .25 -.5 ( given shooter ability ) all day long. So you see the people you are marketing this rifle too ( hard core hunters / shooters ) know this and will always prefer a custom hand built rig over a assembly line rifle dressed up to " pretend " to shoot " like a custom ", which I assure you it does not. I had a X bolt stainless stalker in 300 WSM I hunted with in Colorado and it shot pretty good 3/4 " most of the time and I purchased that rifle for about $975 which I enjoyed shooting and carrying but it was no where in the same ball park of my custom. The bolt has a cheaper way less refined solid feel that even a Blueprinted Rem 700 does, not to mention a Defiance, and other truly custom actions. To some people this may not matter and Im sure the pretty cerakote finish and fluting will surely bedazzle them into buying one. For 1k the X Bolt is a really good rifle, but for 2k, not so much.

@John Doe What I meant was all X Bolts have a garbage trigger, that's why I said minus the garbage trigger it's a good price for what you get.....not implying it has a different trigger

I have a hell’s canyon speed .308, got it on sale for $950. Love the gun but those thin barrels heat up quick. It will shoot .75 MOA with 165 gr Partitions, but you have to let it cool down after 3 shots, I don’t think the pro will do better for twice the price. Maybe I could get better groups with new trigger but who knows. Be nice if their barrels had a little more meat on them. I don’t get a chance for long range shots cause my area is heavily wooded. My next gun for sure will custom.
