- Derek Dirnberger from The Break TV sights in his Browning X-Bolt Mountain Pro Long Range in 6.8 Western with the Browning Ammo Long Range Pro Hunter, and shows a few of the features of this rifle. This rifle and ammo combo is DEADLY ACCURATE!!!
Good looking rifle and scope.
I have a 6.5 PRC Browning X-Bolt Pro that regularly shoots 1/2 to 3/4 MOA with Hornady 143 gr. ELD-X factory ammo!!
I have a Bushnell Elite LRTS 4.5 - 18 x 44 scope witan G3 illuminated reticle in Talley rings with a real top ring integrated bubble level.
I am impressed. This is the first video i have seen were that round shoots accurate. Good shooting. I am on the fence about that round. Kind of feels like a reintroduced 270 wsm. Damn near sane ballistics.
Well yes, *winchester* recreated the *wichester short mag*. That's kinda the whole point- an improved 270 WSM
@@lukedavis8912 Why did they bother, the .270 is virtually a dead caliber other than there are lots of .270 W around. All the new stuff and most of the old can easily surpass the 6.8. This is a lot of hype about nothing. Seems Winchester just has to have a way into your wallet.
Because you can't shoot 170s and 175s out of a 270WSM. This is closer to the performance of a 7 RM than the 270WSM
@@burnsmatkin9606 Because the 6.8 Western can load heavier bullets with a higher BC
The setup is on the money!
Another beautiful rifle I love the x-bolt series especially the long range editions. Get some great potential for some excellent Target guns and hunting rifles.
Tight groups. Brother . Very nice rifle. My next purchase too. 🦌🐻💯🎯🎯😎☝️👏👏
Thank you! You won't be disappointed!
Wow! Nice shooting gun!
All of these browning’s in 6.8 western are shooters. I was pleasantly surprised how easy my set up made 1000 yards. Hells canyon max long range with the vx6 cds.
Yes! I'm looking forward to stretching mine out soon!
Sweet set up
Why didn't you show us how the bolt action smoothness works. Every shot you took showed the bolt already pulled back before placing another round in the chamber. Is it loose or tight? Does it wiggle too much? These are important things to know.
I’ll do a short on that. I think I was more focused on the accuracy of the rifle/ammo combo and just touched on a few features of the rifle. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
What’s the best grain you’ve found for the 6.8 western? Waiting on mine to arrive at my FFL!
I loved the lil Humble Brag. I'm not even a good shot... Stay Humble my friends 😌
The stock on that rifle has the same shape as winchester xpr, like the grip on the bottom where it sticks down . Is there a bevel on the cheek on top ?
I have that rifle in .30-06
Does anyone think it will stick around an make it??? Great new cartridge for hunting. Probably the best all around that has been released. But Hornady, Nosler, and Weatherby are not going to support it with ammo or rifles. Federal is waiting around to see! The current rifle options are less than stellar or way over priced. I want it to be as popular as a 270 but just don’t see it working out.
I agree with you that it is one of, if not the best all-around caliber currently available. I know Browning is fully committed to the 6.8 Western so I believe it will stick around. If it does stick around and continues to gain popularity, I think Hornady, Nosler, and all the other ammo manufacturers will get onboard. If not, Browning Ammo and Winchester will have to pump out the ammo!
Are you using subsonic ammunition? Looks a nice gun btw.
No offense but still 2" low and right after a box of ammo?
I shot a box of ammo to break in the barrel. I had it rough sighted at 50 yards within 5 shots and then moved back to 200 yards just shooting an 8” steel plate. I never fine tune the zero until I shoot a box through it. I did another video explaining my break in process.
We’re can I buy the bipode adapter?
Did the scope come with it and would you say this I a good rifle to start with
The scope did not come with it. They are generally sold separately. This is a great rifle. If you're buying your first Browning rifle, I'd probably go with the X-Bolt Composite Stalker or the Speed model. Both are also great rifles and easier on the pocketbook.
🔥🔥👌👌👌
This whole carbon fiber stock stuff is so over blown.
what’s the scope?
This scope is a Leupold VX-5HD 4-20x52
How’s the recoil compare to other calibers? Thanks!
Without shooting them all side by side, I would say it is similar to my .308 without a muzzle break. The recoil on this 6.8 Western feels much less than my 28 Nosler. The Recoil Hawg muzzle break on this 6.8 Western has a lot to do with that I'm sure. I'll do another video with the camera on me as I shoot several different calibers and you can see the recoil of each.
Close to 7mm rem mag or 30-06
I have a heavy 6.5 creedmoor and the browning 6.8 western absorbs so much recoil that it weighs and kicks less.
@@lesdavenport6649 math doesn’t check out but okay
@@treydenfrench7009 go shoot one.
LOL a full box for zeroing and still need to finetune it.
Ha...No...it didn't take me a box to zero. Bore sigted at 50 yards on cardboard. Took 3 shots to hit a 2" circle at 50 yards. Then moved to the 10" steel plate at 200 yards as the zero was roughed in. I shot the rest of the box at that steel target to break in my barrel....after every shot I cleaned the barrel. Some say you only need 7-10 shots to break in a barrel but I always shoot a box. I fine tune my zero after that process. I suppose I could have explained the whole process in this video. Maybe I'll do that in future video. Thanks for watching.
no inches, MOA
Browning is good for a factory gun, but once you go custom you never go back.
I have three x-bolts that outshoot my $5k custom all day.
I would love to buy this rifle in 270 or 6.8 standard but its not offered by browning. To many new calibers during a ammo shortage. These guys that sit around a table and come up with this stuff are trying to market to 5% of the hunting population that are milk jug shooters. Quit this crap in trying to market new calibers. Something is wrong when you cant get 30-30 243 270 30-06 7mag or 300 mag at walmart. When times get tough and they will these new calibers will be gone and you will be left with a paperweight or a boat paddle.
I agree. Compared to the plethora of 7mm cartridges why bother with the .277?
This is just hype. The 6.5 creedmore was hype too, but it actually and surprisingly is a decent cartridge. Even though that is true it would be still easier to do a .260 with an Ackley shoulder and a faster twist.
Winchester and Browning owned by FN are both promoting the new cartridges. Try finding a new rifle in 270, 3006 and 338, all very limited availability. I called Winchester in January 2023, the Model 70 extreme weather in 3006 is not scheduled for production well into mid 2024….. unreal
@@burnsmatkin9606 Because this new .277 has heavier bullets and brings a higher BC while shooting flatter than many in the same arena! Also, the 6/5 doesn't have the knock down power that the 6.8W has. I have a friend who's guided on a private Elk ranch for the last 18 years. I've been hunting with a 308 the last several years and looking for something new. So I asked him what caliber he and his fellow guides see works the best? What he said to me was, 7mm mag, 65PRC, 30-06, 300 short mag, the 270,and the 6.8 Western. When I asked about the 6/5cm he said, he and his guides call it the 6/5 Needmoor.
Big deal, I've hit apples at three hundred yards with my 22-250
