Rifle review: Browning Hell's Canyon Long Range
Vložit
- čas přidán 2. 10. 2018
- Modern hunters these days are seeking faster, flatter cartridges as well as rifles built to perform with them. Browning has melded both into their new Hells Canyon Long Range (HCLR) rifle. With custom shop features, attractive looks, and a price that won’t break the bank, the HCLR sounds too good to be true. Guns.com finds out on the range.

Finally, a review that actually shows the gun shooting a group. Thanks for posting
great review Kristin, and even better shooting ! You just sold me on that rifle, watched several others as well, looks like everyone agrees that this finely manufactured rifle is a great acquisition for any medium to larger game hunter , good job.
Best review I've watched on this rifle, thanks!
Well I am 66 years old and I’ve hunted for a long time. I recently purchased one of these rifles I cannot believe the performance that I’ve gotten out of it. I am handicapped in a sense that I have cataracts on my eyes and have limited vision yet and all it is effortless to put in a 1”inch group in at 200 yards which is suffice for me.
Nice. Thanks for sharing Stephen.
This was my first build, 6.5 Creedmoor with Vortex PST Gen II 5-25x50 FFP, Vortex PMR rings, 20MOA rail. First grouping was .483 , sub 1/2 MOA first time out.
I have two Browning Rifles, they will hang with and beat most 4,000$ custom rifles any day. I want a Browning in 28 Nosler as my next.
You didn't mention the glass bedding! Was hoping you would take it apart so we could have a look...
How beautiful good engineering . Thank you .
Good review!
I recently bought an X-Bolt Pro in 6.5 CM. YeaterdayI zeroed it at my gun club and my last 3 zeroing shots were less than 1/2" at 100 yards> This was shooting off my range bag B/C I forgot my cast iron front bench rest!
(140 gr. Hornady ELD-M ammo, SWFA SS 3 - 15 x 42 scope, FFP, mil/mil)
Then I took it to our steel silhouette range and rang steel animals and bonds from 212 yards to 547 yards missing only one narrow gong at 400+ yards. LOVE THIS RIFLE!
I live in Nevada so I needed a "mountain rifle" and this is IT.
Then you should do good in Ely Nev.
Awesome rifle and great work Kristen!
^this
You're a great shot!
Just purchased the Hells Canyon Speed chambered in 7mm-08 topped with a Leupold 4-9×50mm optic, shots where Deer hunt do not exceed 200 yards that's why I stayed with the 4-9 optic, can't wait to try it out at the range!
How did it do?
Still never made it to the range yet, was going this weekend but hurricane Dorian made me change plans, hopefully next weekend!
Hello Kristen, I always enjoy your professional comments. Recently I have bought a HCS, not the LR, in 308 caliber, what ammo do you could recommend me for a 12 twist rate?
Brownings B.O.S.S. muzzle harmonic brake devices on my Winchester 70 is what I recommend.
One sweet rifle and one GREAT Girl. Thanks.
I need one in 7mm Remington Magnum and 1 in 8 twist rate barrel.
Jeffrey Locke i want the same gun you want there bud with a 26 inch barrel at the shortest
As soon as my PAL comes in the mail i will be purchasing that exact rifle and it'll be a sweet shooter for a large variety of animals followed up by a lever action 7mm-8
Excellent video and excellent rifle, thank you.
Can this still be purchased new ? I have the .26 Nosler version. Which was made first?
Awesome rifle
Nice ! I have the Long Range Max in .308 and the Long Range Hunter in 7mm rem mag
Great review! I have the same gun in 300 wm. Viper 4x16x44mm HSLR on it. I have low tally scope rings. Do you have any issues with the ejecting cartridge hitting the windage turret? Even so much as to have the cartridge go back in the receiver? It looks like your cartridges are hitting, but clearly exiting no problem.
i would have too have the burnt bronze scope with a beautiful tan leather sling, got my lotto ticket !!
Sandy Mitchell i as thinking the same thing. Do they make a lot of burnt bronze scopes I haven’t seen them!
Great review! Many thanks!
Which stock is better? McMillian stock or the carbon fiber stock?
Depends if you like plastic or fiberglass.
Such a beautiful rifle? I love it. thanks
Bună ziua cât costă o armă browing x Bolt cal 30x06?
that's one sweet rifle..
Thats a hells canyon speed you reviewed... i have the long range, it has a large knob bolt handle, and the 1-7” twist rate is stamped on the barrel. That is a 1-8” twist 24” barrel you are showing, what the hell...
That is not the speed. This has a heavy contoured 26 inch barrel.
What scope rings are those?
Can u get this gun with a wood stalk????
What’s the caliber?
Seems like i have read on several videos that Browning has some quality issues for the price?
Hey mate, what issues had you heard about? Currently looking at this rifle in 300win mag so if there are any issues it would be great to know👍🇦🇺
I was seeing the same thing on the sniper forums during my research. Some folks are not too happy with them.

That woman can damn shoot!!!
What to buy - the semi-auto or bolt for hunting?
Bolt hands down
5R rifling??
5R basically means the rifling has 5 grooves
No Sam, the 5R also has a different shape rifling.
$1229.00 Is that just rifle price not scope included ?
Yes. Bare gun. Pro model street price is around $2k
6.5 creedmoor has an 8 twist but the 6.5 PRC has a 7 twist?? vice versa would make more sense...
D C thats the speed version she showed...the long range versions of 6.5 creed and PRC are both 1-7 twist.
I like it,,,in hunt
don't get me wrong it shoots great but I can do the same thing with my ruger American predator
I could drive a clapped out civic to work everyday but I don't... there are reasons rifles cost more same as cars and houses. Better materials, longer lasting, better machining, better quality, better looks, and along with all of that is a higher price tag.
Hmmmmm. This or the savage 110 high country? Gun people. Educate me please.
I have been looking at the High Country, but I have seen more negative reviews about Savage and their poor machining .
311hitwall I ended up buying the Savage 110 high country in 308.....The gun is a tack driver but it has failure to feed issues and the bolt will jam when cycling . I have an accurate $1000 single shot. 🥺
@@owengeorge8447 That's a shame. Seems like nobody cares about quality today and if you can't get quality in a $1k rifle then something is wrong. We are getting pinched on everything.
@@311hitwall go for that Browning friend, Hell’s Canyon Long Range
