    I think dynasties are a part of the rule of 3s. It has to be a span of 3 years of dominance. Chicago Bulls winning 3 championships made them a dynasty. (one of the main determinants of serial killers is having 3 separate victims/ killings over a space of 3 weeks or a month.) Most determining factors of greatness consist of the rule of 3s. (3 championships, MVPs, 3 great stats)

    21:00 - I agree that there’s no real definition to a Dynasty, but most people agree you need at least 3 rings and usually were the favorite for the years you didn’t win. I’m a Giants fan, people call our 3 rings in 5 years a “Dynasty”. But we missed the playoffs the other years, and were never the favorites. The 90’s Yankees were most definitely a power house dynasty. In basketball, the Warriors. In football, the Chiefs *vomit* and obviously the Patriots before them.
    So the Astros are one WS away from being a legit “dynasty”

    You should have mentioned the only death during an at bat in mlb history. It was a Cleveland Indians shortstop, Ray Chapman, who was killed by Carl Mays when a ball struck his head during his at bat. The pitcher was known as a very aggressive one, and the day was especially cloudy. Combine this with the dark brown balls, and Chapman likely lost the ball in the clouds. This incident sparked a change in the baseballs from being covered in chewing tobacco, to being a much lighter colour to be easier to see by the hitter.

    What facts do you base your determination that baseball in Ruth's era was substandard to today's? Pitchers were required to pitch complete games, and occasionally even both games of a doubleheader. Rest days were often used to play exhibition games for the owner to make more money. Players were required to move runners and steal bases, not strikeout several times before hitting a home run. You didn't have multi-year contracts and you had to earn your spot in the lineup every spring. I have no problem saying that baseball is just as difficult as it was in Ruth's era, but I would never say that one era was superior to another. There just aren't enough facts to support such claims.

    Please explain the physics of a pitch "rising", or in other words, defying the laws of gravity.

    • @HPayne62
      @HPayne62 Před měsícem

      Unless you're throwing underhand or sidearm or something, the ball isn't actually rising. What happens is called the Magnus effect. If you throw a ball with enough backspin, the aerodynamics will help the ball resist gravity just a little bit and not drop as fast. Batters know to account for the slight drop from gravity in their swing, so a pitch with good ride gets swung under for a strike or popped up. There's this channel called How Ridiculous that will often throw basketballs off of really tall structures with backspin and you can see the ball curve in the air as it falls because of the Magnus effect.

    You’re comparing Riley to the worst stretch of Beltre’s career BTW. Seattle sucked the talent out of players back then like Anaheim does now. Mike Trout would have 110 WAR and 5 MVPs if he played for any other team. Shohei would have 1 Cy Young and 3 by now if he had. And he wouldn’t have needed elbow surgery twice.
