Those 2 plates sticking out of the stern are to help you get out of the water if you fall in, I think they are required for all new build boats now.
oh wow thats interesting what a great idea thanks Glynn
In America those sinks are âFarmhouse Sinksâ. Fun hanging with you, as usual!
Yeah farmhouse sink sounds far better...thanks for hanging see you Thursday đ
I know it as a Belfast sink love them đ„°đ the burning of the wood is stunning đ
Thank you Sandra, Becca has done amazing with the worktops, I cant wait to see how she handles the bathroom
Ha Ha itâs the wild life that would stop me having a narrow boat. I know that I now live in Australia where everything is trying to kill or eat you but mostly they stay out of your house. Keep the videos coming I look forward to them.
Yeah it's quite the shocker when you buy one of these boats, they seam to love them and want to join you on them as there home too haha
Wow Becca those countertops are beautiful. You really are creative
There amazing aren't they ,she's so gifted
Ahahahaaaa... the wasp and spider bit and then all the other bug bits... so funny đ I make that weird noise too but I'm an actual girl đ€đ
It's looking fab, love the scaffold surfaces đđ
I'm sure it gets easier... I did scream like a little girl..isn't that what every grown man does?? Haha Beccas kitchen tops look amazing so proud of her, one step closer to getting our kitchen finished yayyy đ
Great Vlog Chris, you really have a great sense of humor, and are still able to convey what needs to be done on the boat. AndâŠyou actually did some pretty impressive DIYâŠ.well that may be a bit of an exaggeration đđ . Becca is really handy, love to see what she is working on. While Becca is working away building things I think it is time bring on the Maverick for the hatch doors, the bathroom, the floor, the bedrooms, the Urinal Sink, etc etc. I think the cratch cover is going to look good and be very practical. In all seriousness I really enjoy your Vlogs. Thanks for putting the time and effort into sharing them. Now watch out for spiders and horseflies. đ± đđđ€ Kathy
haha thank you Kathy, wow...I feel motivated..more of my amazing DIY to follow, Becca is truly amazing with all here handy DIY work, I Actually spoke to the Maverick the other day and hes itching to have another crack with some of the work....maybe all haha, catch you in the next one :)
@@TheNomadicCrobot the three of you will get it done!
Belfast Sink, I think! Wow, that rimes.
haha yes I think you are correct David
Hatch locking systemâŠâŠâŠâŠ 6x6 plank on hooks backed up with Razor wire and Claymores
Now there's a cracking idea...plus that should help solve the Swan problem to haaađ„đŠŽ
@@TheNomadicCrobot cygnet cricket! Shhhh donât tell Becks đđđ
Becca, Chris, Loving Becca's burning the wood effect. Those plates at the stern, sometimes are below the water line as well, to help one get out of the water. Great video Guys, all is looking good. Take care.
its amazing isn't it, she's so clever, yes someone said they were to help someone get out the water, wonder how haha, thank you, see you Thursday :)
Nice work Bec's on the work tops with doing Shou sugi ban ( Wood grain burning) . Ps , Did you know that you can dye the timber different colours too . Do a bit research on the old CZcams.
Oh woaw that could be really cool, I'll pass thr message on to becca and get looking thank you
In the past wood was charred on a fire to give preservative properties. This technique is still especial'y by those building cabins off grid.
Yeah I have heard this also. It seems to be holding up well so far too!
Hi guys, regarding your side hatches, Yale make locking sliding bolts with keys to unlock, fitted to the top and bottom of the lead door with the outside lip. The locking bolt sides up into wooden framework (need to drill some holes for the sliding bolt to fit into. Hope that helps đ
Cheers đ
That's a great idea, we need the boat going through the metal really or the lock is only as strong as the screws which isn't alot, we have some small locks on there which are fine for the marina but I doubt they would hold up to much if under attack for a while haha thank you
TITAN TITAN ! Yeh baby ! Lol loved that vlog ! Things are now coming together itâs bloody exciting Chris !! Becca fantastic job on those work tops ! Just having them there makes the kitchen look nice ! Canât wait for your next adventure !! X
behold the mighty TITAN haha, I felt we really needed to celebrate him in this episode after his time away, there looking amazing aren't they, next step to get them fully installed, see you Thursday, thank you :)
Hi both, also to add the 2 plates at the back of your boat are also rudder stops, having had 6 boats the secret I found is ,one room at a time, once that's finished move on to the next, do not rush your jobs take your time and it will work out. Enjoying your videos liking the good humour
yes I think your right with that, 1 room at a time would have been a far better idea, its just because we didn't realise how much of the bilges we had to treat for rust, oh ok rudder stops thats interesting someone said they were for safety if you fell in and all boats need them now too, thanks for joining us David see you on the next one :)
Deffo all blagging it đ
Nice to see the Titan getting some more air time đ
Check you out Chris using that screwdriver unattended đđ»
Itâs really starting to come together now, looking really good! đ
I know I'm getting quite handy these days, haa part of the fun is blagging it I suppose..sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't haha I felt so sorry for the tiran these past weeks đ it's was nice to take him out of hibernation haa
Chris you are hilarious, is that a genuine fear of creepy crawlies and flying insects? Just to say if your butkers sink has an overflow then it's a Belfast sinkđ
Becca has great woodwork skills, that worktop looks amazing. When your boat is completed you will have a fantastic floating home. đ
haha...I dont think im actually that scared I love animals and insects just get spooked very easily haha...ahhh ok so thats the difference with the sinks, were wondering if its possibly to big for the boat at this stage thanks for your comment Sheila
No the sink is perfect. Will look great with the wooden worktops.
Must be a bot thing with the spiders!
Haaa I'm not as bad as kev, he's gonna have a shock when he finally comes on the boat, let alone spend the night đ
You guys are doing a great job. Beck's work is amazing. See you guys on the cut.
Cheers Will...one day haha...im still aiming for this year :)
Nice to bring forth the texture by burning the wood slightly! Rubber strip would perhaps be something for the hatches. Just to block out the winter storms
I think she's done amazing, they look lovely now that's a great idea... we have heard we want it fully sealed for winter really, imagine what it will be like when it snows or its icey thanks Rolf
YES! - If You put your false-teeth in a glass of water over-night, remember to cover it with a bit of card or something, because the Spiders drink from them if they can't find a human mouth to suck the saliva from ... And they leave their little 'deposits' in the water for you .... Much like the one's they leave on the corner of your mouth after they've supped .... Just Sayin' đđ€Łđ
Don't say that, that sounds awful haaaa I'm going to start sleeping with a scalf wrapped around my head đ€Łđ
We had carpet on our narrowboat walls. It was brilliant insulation during the cold months. Have you considered fixing ply over the top of the carpet and painting the ply? It will help keep the boat cosy.
Never really thought of that,it would probably help actually, unfortunately iv already ripped a whole load off , cozy is definitely the way we want to go cheers Rick
Oh so much work.... will be fun to watch your progress. Best wishes, D
there really is, though full steam ahead ready for a winter cruise haaa
great seeing you both try different ways of sorting out small problems im doing my 30 year old campervan it passed its mot just wish i had your camera and editing skills but i might try one day
oh wow that would make for a great vlog, oh thanks once you do a few you get the hang of these things, hope you get it going, I would love to see, thank you
Hot water tank, Make sure the stove works. Shower/bathroom. Times cracking on soon be winter. đ
exactly all ready for a winter cruise season haha cheers Nick
@@TheNomadicCrobot you donât want to be freezing your bits off even if all the work isnât done.đđŒ
Watching you 2 work while having a nice cold bottle of cider. Would you like to join me?
Absolutely haha đ thanks Simon
I'd plan to get rid of the gas boiler.... solid fuel all the way to save costs.... I've got through 2 bottles of gas in 10 days with Gas heating...
yes I think the plan would be to use the heating with solid fuel...I have heard there very heavy on energy but will see I suppose when we get the shower up and running again Cheers :)
Woohooooo đ
Cheers duuude đ»
@@TheNomadicCrobot great video guys. Spiders + Chris = đđđ
Haha I don't actually mind them...I just don't want to share the bed with them đ
@@TheNomadicCrobot hahaha well thatâs completely understandable fella.
Bits sticking out the back are usually under the water and are used to help climb back on the boat
yes someone actually just said, what a great idea, we always wonder what the safest way back aboard would be, thank you
@@TheNomadicCrobot Dont think older boats have them but newer ones do. Not sure if its a requirement now. Guess some people drowned.
Blow torch? I think its a burner for Creme Brulee. Looks realy nice though!
Yes to all 3
Haha it seams to do the trick đ€Ł
I think itâs the plywood that you faced the doors with.
unfortunately I think it was doing it also when we had the the doors off, possibly not as bad though, it definitely hasn't helped
@@TheNomadicCrobot haha đ
Something needs to seal those hatches better or your going to freeze your backsides off come winter
Yes we have heard that, maybe a job for the next weeks before it starts getting cold again
Belfast Sink is it proper name đđđ
cheers yes thats the one...were so used to calling it a butler now haha
Here in the States itâs referred to as a âfarmhouse sinkâ
That's probably the best name for it..haha hi from the UK Shawn đŹđ§ đ
đđ
đđâ€đšđŠ
Titan could use some giant googly eyes. đ
Things out the back - part of the chine - maybe a bumper of sorts (that's part of the hull vs. the rope one)
now there a great idea hehe đł
someone said all modern builds need them incase you fall in, possibly some sort of safety device?
@@TheNomadicCrobot Ah - a step? Yeah, I think there was a comment about that recently on NB that James Built, because his friend Rob/Serafina has steps/ladder built into the side of his boat.
Those âtabsâ youâre talking about are there just so you would ask what are they there for
Haha spot on
Why are you fitting a Calorifier if you are considering a combination boiler ?.
thanks for your question Doug, we defiantly want to use the energy from the engine, it seams silly not to, hot water and heating on the boat, we dont want to use the aldi for heating really maybe just for a last resort ,we have heard these Aldi boilers are very costly if you use them for everything, we haven't had the chance to fully test it yet, but yes I know what your saying, we probably need to discuss it a bit more and work out what we want to do :)
Belfast sink
Good job on the worktop think the sink you have is called a Belfast sink.
Yes I think you may be correct , there looking amazing becca has done so well bless here , thanks Rich
Ah⊠Hello Crew⊠More useless tips⊠9:33 - Donât use a Wire Brush - AAAGH! 12:34 Youâve already used it!! Noooo! Use Stainless Wire Wool (and no, you donât make shiny jumpers out of it) If you use normal steel wool, bitâs will rust in the wood but stainless wonât.. Should be able to get some from the Fix of the Screw or from the Q of the B...
Thanks for the advise, I will endeavour to remember that for the future! I had looked into it and lots of people suggested the wire brush so I thought nothing of it! Right I'm off to the shops to go get myself some stainless wire wool đ
@@TheNomadicCrobot Great.. It's ADVICE; not ADVISE!! Stainless wool (baa) is great and having a Freeman 22/2 is about the only thing you can prep the wood without damage prior to varnishing. Must say, I REALLY like the grey carpet inside - I'd keep it....Or how about going RETRO? Oooh, orange and a green stripes (you;ll be sick) Don't forget a spare dual-network windy-windy thing and also a spare EA key on which you will invest ÂŁ15 of your hard-earned toil... As always... more to follow :-)
Aldi boiler is bad. I have one and like others got through a bottle of gas in a weak.
I am worried about this, possibly use a calorifia (have I spelt that right haha) for the hot water and use the aldi as a back up?
@@TheNomadicCrobot Of course yeah I have 3 hot water systems actually - my instant gas boiler and an electric Ariston boiler under the sink. When we are on the shoreline I run the Ariston boiler.
Any sht live "band" sounds ok after loads of booze
Exactly haha
You wuss haha
It's not a laughing matter haha

Sorry Shawn is there a chance you could send them to our Facebook please? I'm not sure we have access to our Instagram anymore đ thanks for your suggestions
I have an idea on how you can lock you hatches, but CZcams wonât let me upload it. So Iâll message you on Instagram with the pictures of my idea.
Oh that's odd, thanks Shawn can you send them to our Facebook instead please?? I'm not sure we really use our Instagram, thanks again
