There is one major issue with Hirasawa that I notice in society at large: he was a secondary victım of his mother's DV. Because of that, he gained a blind spot where he naturally believes claimants without question, and where any attempt to check the validity of the story only feed the information for the other person to repeat.
The sad part is that Hirasawa's intentions were in the right place, but his condition left him open for Makiko to use him as her own weapon
Forgot to mention that Hirasawa and Makiko broke up after he found out that he's been fooled by Makiko. What Makiko did is defamation and attempted fraud, well at least karma done a favor when Makiko falls in a mud, hopefully there's no leeches in the crops. Well those two traitors did this to themselves after what they did to Keiichi and Nagisa, they have no one but themselves to blame.

Makiko tried to get back with Keiichi and was begging but then Nagisa glared at her and told her to never go near him again and she has such a threaten look that she wanted to kill Makiko and Makiko left. She tried to spread bad rumors about how Keiichi tried to hurt her and why their marriage failed but Nagisa sued her for defamation and putting her into even more debt as she could not prove anything and also all of her exes confirmed that she is a liar.
She lost all of her credibility and no one will believe her.
Eventually, she was able to find someone with money but ended up stuck in an actual abusive relationship with no way out and the guy is a mama's boy

Makiko turned out to be quite the liar here, not only betraying Keiichi, but Hirasawa as well; however, Hirasawa also bit the apple, and turned to Makiko as well, so it's a surprise he wasn't made to pay alimony as well. Nagisa, on the other hand, was the girl of the day for Keiichi, not only seeing Makiko's lies, but supporting Keiichi through everything. While I'm glad that the lying wife was caught one of the things Keiichi used to defend himself has been used by abusers to escape justice. You see in abusive relationships often do not remember the exact dates of their abuse, because after a time it all starts to bleed together. But Hirasawa was an idiot for getting into a physical relationship with a still married woman and for not hiring a PI to gather evidence. But in the end young guys like him tend to think with their lower head.

Not sure how the first forgotten lunch figures into this and since it was the cause of everything the rest of the story doesn't make sense. As it was not even remotely possible he would not realize he had actually brought it the lie was evident.
