  • Today I learn about another legend of the game - Zlatan. What shocked me was the amount of teams he played for, and how much he moved around the globe. It also makes me understand why Europeans might have a more international view of the world - because, football. Really enjoyed watching him - he has fun, but is also a "lion" with his mentality. Ibrahimović was born in Malmö, Sweden, on 3 October 1981. He was born to a Muslim Bosniak father, Šefik Ibrahimović, who emigrated to Sweden in 1977, and a Catholic Croat mother, Jurka Gravić, who also emigrated to Sweden, where the couple first met. Ibrahimović began playing football at the age of six, after receiving a pair of football boots.

Good Reaction, as always. At the end, it returned to 2001 when he said "I am Sweden" as for the first time it showed him playing for The National Swedish team and not a club side. He started in Sweden for Malmo then Ajax of Amsterdam then Internationale Milan in The famous Blue and White Stripes then Barcelona then A C Milan (Inter's great rivals ) in the famous Red and White Stripes then France for Paris St. Germain then Manchester United then MLS then A C Milan again. When you said "his return 2011/2012" back to Sweden did not last long it only meant he returned WITH A C Milan to play AGAINST Malmo :)

    Regarding his personal background:
His father is from Bosnia-Herzegowina and his mother from Croatia. He himself was born in Malmö Sweden. But he's defo a Balkan boy by blood and mentality. Also he speaks his mother tongue serbo-croatia when he's around his parents. So his lil accent and his foreign name for sure stood out in between all the Scandinavians he grew up with.

Just adding answers to these as they're coming up.
    Q. Which team does he play for in the Netherlands?
    A. The BIGGEST - Ajax Amsterdam!
    Q. Is that Barcelona? Did he play with Messi?
    A. Yeah, you know the Blaugrana now! He was only at Barca for one season and left mostly because the coach (Guardiola) preferred to play Messi in a central position rather than Ibra. He HATED Guardiola!
    Q. Back to Milan?
    A. Yes but for AC Milano. They are the city rivals of Inter.
    Q. Is that PSG?
    A. Yes. They're not the only team in Paris but they are (now) the biggest and most well funded.
    Q. Parc des Princes?
    A. Not another team. This is the name of PSG's home stadium.
    Q. Man Utd owners?
    A. They are owned by the Glazer family (Americans). I don't really know cars but Chevrolets are sold here.
    Q. Europa League?
    A. It's the second European cup. Not as prestigious as the Champions League but important for the teams in it... I guess.
    Q. Contracts?
    A. It's pretty common for older players to only get one or two year contracts. When he was younger he moved for pretty substantial transfer fees like other players
p.s. He's not a player but I would recommend you reacting to Brian Clough. He is respected in England even today (his peak was in the 70s) because he went to small teams and turned them into champions quickly. There are loads of narration style docs on CZcams so it will be easier too.

Unfortunate, but i do hope you enjoyed it and this inspires you to find out more about Zlatan.
He is definitely one of a kind, both on and off field.
    Edit:
Also, yes, Zlatan moved from club to club a lot in comparison to most successful players. Most likes to stay in one place when success is achieved, Zlatan gets restless and want new to conquer.
While playing for clubs, he also played for Swedish national team, thus the final part of the video. It was a summary of his national career. He is viewed as Swedens best player ever.
The closest allegiance he has is to AC Milan. He currently plays there still.

Half of what makes Zlatan great is his talent, his skills, his physics. And the whole other half is his mindset, he doesn't believe in himself, he knows. He is convinced he can do it, he can handle the situation, he can score, he is the right man at the right position, he doesnt doubt. That comes with a slightly douchy behaviour. But it leads to results. And to awesome results. An other guy might see a ball and come to the conclusion that it is impossible to kick it in a way that leads to the ball landing in the goal, not Zlatan, he believes he can make a shot even if the shot is barely possible. That doesn't always work out, but quite often it does and then we get those impossible Zlatan goals to cheer about.

All 8 clubs that Zlatan played
Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, Manchester U, PSG
excluding LA galaxy are in the UEFA CL this season but unfortunately none of them are drawn in AC Milan group.
Zlatan once had the opportunity to play for Arsenal (great club at that time) when he was 18 .
Arsenal manager asked him to come for trials all he had to was go and give the trial. But he said "Zlatan don't do auditions". The deal didn't came through
Zlatan played with paulo Maldini (GOAT defender) and now he is playing with his son Daniel Maldini which shows his longevity. He is currently in his 23rd season of his Proffesional career.

You’re right, this is hardly a documentary. It doesn’t touch on what he achieved in each respective club, or what caused him to move from one to another. That’s where the story lies.
To me, he was always one of the big three - Messi, C. Ronaldo, and him - but he has attributes unique to him: The agility, the spacial awareness, and the ridiculous amount of ways he can score a goal. (One of my favorites of his is his last assist in Manchester United - lots of people thought it was just a stroke of luck, but no, that was intentional… He knows where everything and everyone is, even if he has his back against them/it).
In Sweden, he is by far the best player ever, to the point even where few think anyone is ever going to touch him.
Others have mentioned that his parents are immigrants, and of course, racism exists everywhere in the world, both the overt kind and the more silent kind. So there’s no reason not to believe him when he says he had a hard time coming up through the ranks in Sweden. But he also credits those hardships for making him who he is. I guess you have to be a little crazy to be able to put in the work needed to reach that level.

Zlatan scored in his first match in all the teams he played for , he also won the shooting league in all clubs exept in Barcelona but would have certainly done it if the coach had let him play more matches . He has been back in Milan for two years and has taking the team back to the top . He also intends to help Sweden in next years World Championships in the summer 2022 . The only title he lacks is the UEFA Champions League , where the best clubs in Europe settle for the title every year , where Milan has a chance to win after failing to qualify in recent years . Also watch I Am Zlatan where he really shows off his entire register on the pitch.

    Two comments:
    1. You can tell by the team crests on all the jerseys/kits. Since each year, the international club competitions feature about 3/4 of the same teams (i.e. Real, Barca, Liverpool, Man City, Bayern, PSG...), you will normally learn those after 2-3 years by heart, to the point where you can draw the prominent ones from memory. Often, that sponsorship is one of the main sources of revenue for the club (remember they're not owned by a single person like US Football teams). And keep in mind that especially the group stages are on free TV in many countries, so they are quite accessible for Europeans.
    2. It's not uncommon for strikers to move around every couple of years, as the opposing teams will learn how to neutralize you, the referees will know your tricks and also, other teams are often willing to pay more. Zlatan is notorious for his quite physical playstile, often on or beyond the border of the rules (this video way very rose- tinted, imo). The same moving pattern can be seen with Dzeko, Eto'o and others. Contracts are often for about 2-3 years, but clubs are often in favour of renewing them timely if a player is good- and someone else does not pay more.

The Glazers piss me off as well. Bought ManU on credit and drove the club into massive debt. Can't stand the Glazers. Coming from an American that is saying a lot.

Footballers rarely play to the end of their contract before switching clubs, but it happens sometimes. The most common way is that another club comes in and buys out the player they want to sign before the contract ends. For example, Barcelona bought Zlatan for about £70 million

Him being a foreigner in Sweden refers to him being the son of immigrants. His father was a Bosniak (Muslim ethnic group in the Balkans) and his mother was Croatian. That's why he has a very Slavic sounding name rather than a Swedish one.
The clubs he played for are:
    Malmö FF - Malmö, Sweden
    Ajax - Amsterdam, Netherlands
    Juventus - Turin, Italy
    Inter Milan- Milan, Italy
    FC Barcelona - Barcelona, Spain
A.C Milan (rivals with Inter Milan)
    PSG - Paris, France
    Man Utd - Manchester, England
L.A Galaxy - Los Angeles, USA
    A.C Milan (again)
The end of the video shows him playing for the Sweden national team. He is Sweden's all time top goalscorer. He holds the record for the most Swedish player of the year (Guldbollen) awards.

in sweden there are two kind of "foreigners" blatte and utlänning, Zlatan was born in sweden so he is a swede, but he had the look of a blatte so that is what he meant, but I dont think there even is a correct translation for that, it is like the Ne(not Ni) word, but light, now days these people call themselves that so it is no longer considered "racists" I guess.
the point is, he is not blond and blue eyed :P He does not look Swedish so he was classed as blatte and that is what he meant when people looked down on him, not giving him a chance etc as people like that often end up in gangs or do petty crimes, but he broke away from that and become one of Sweden most famous sport stars

Zlatan Ibrahimović's dad is a Bosnian and his mother is a Croatian, they migrated to Sweden in the late 70's from Yugoslavia. He was living a pretty rough neighborhood in Malmö and had told stories of him shoplifting and stealing bikes. Zlatan attended classes for taekwondo as a child, which is why he does some of the almost karate kick style goals, has has received an honorary black belt in taekwondo. Zlatan has made a name for himself by almost always appearing arrogant in interviews with a huge smirk and spark in his eye. Zlatan's twitter is really funny if you are into the very straight forward answers.
Zlatan did play with Messi in 2009 at Barcelona, and the person he talks badly about is Pep Guardiola who was the manager of Barcelona at the time.
Zlatan did the forbidden move of going back to Milano but playing for the other major club in Milano, which caused a huge outrage about him in Italy.
In 2011 AC Milan that he played for, were playing against his boyhood club Malmö FF (where he played before moving to Amsterdam) in a pre-season friendly match and the Malmö fans welcomed Zlatan as a hero and made a huge banner with his purple Lamborghini Diablo that he had talked about in that Swedish train interview. Because the match results did not matter for any competition the entire match were pretty wholesome as the Malmö FF fans were singing to Zlatan for most of the game.

He was saying Egoistic because he knows he has a massive ego. But he backs it up with his football. For example he payed for a page in the los angeles times sayin 'Zlatan has arrived'. Then he came on as a substitute when they where losing for his debut and scored from 40 yards and then scored two more. That is why the commentator is saying "oh come on".

Ibrahimovic is still in A.C. Milan (Italy), at 40 yo. This should be his last season.
He wouldn't left Milan in 2012, he had been sold by the club because of financial issues.
Anyway, he is an arrogant man, but in a positive way. He always has and gives motivation. In the MLS he told his team mates he already has 300 mlns in his bank, so he plays to win, not for money. And this is his way to tell his team mates they have to play better.

And regarding the size of soccer global! Total fans: 1/2 of the planet or 3.5 billion people Soccer is king. Over half of the entire world’s population tunes in to the World Cup each year. And, over 250 million people admit to actively playing soccer. This makes it the most-watched, most-played sport on the planet. Without touching on the absurd number of TV viewers and sponsorship deals, it’s important to remember that soccer crosses boundaries. It’s the most popular sport in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. There’s only one continent where soccer doesn’t reign supreme - North America.

The kits have the symbol of the team on the front, on the left side up in the chest were military medals go, but not the name of the team usually.

The Sponsorship on the shirts thing started happening in the late 70's-early 80's, before then, they were pretty simple - a shirt had a number on the back (no name, until the late 80's early 90s'), and the club crest/badge on the front. The badge is still on the front, above and typically to the left of the sponsor.

He's 40 now, a little bit slower, and a little less ego. But still as dangerous. He's become more of a playmaker these days, giving others the ball and letting them score too.
The three things he hasn't won is the Olympics, world championship, and Champions league. And he's still playing for AC milan, and the Swedish national team.
