    Mine does horrible with leaves. I have tried all kind of adjustments and it will now improve. The wheels lockup constantly as well. I’m am at my wits end with it because I mainly bought it for leaves.

      I just used mine this fall for leaves and it worked very well. I have found it works best when they are dry, If they are wet it likes to compact in the compacting drum feeding fingers. Another thing I have noticed in the years while in grass and leaves is that if there is a really thick area do not take a full swipe only take a half swipe. If you go with a full there is sometimes to much material throwin into the compacting bar and it will jam up and make the wheels slide. Hope this helps.

      Hey I just wanted to give you a few more ideas to try. I just used mine again yesterday for leaves and it worked great. I was going thru some pretty thick areas with ease. I noticed you said the wheels kept sliding. I did have a issue like that when I first got mine. Make sure to adjust the pickup brushes to where they just touch the top of the grass. If you have them set to low it will make the wheels slide and not pick up as well also. Play around with the brush. Once you gwt it set you should be good to go. Also in really thick leaves it may not get them all in one pass, you may need to go over it a second time if they ate damp.

    Great video! Hope Steiner gives you some sponsorship as your videos are much more informative than theirs!

      I could never figure out why they never made any videos of the sweeper. It works really well.

    I have a lot of pine needles and would really appreciate your input on how effectively this equipment can pick them up. I am assuming that one has to pick up large pine cones beforehand - based on what you said about nuts. I am looking for something to pick up grass clippings, leaves and pine needles. At my place the pine needles can get so thick they choke the grass. Thanks.

      I will try to do a pine needle video this year as well. I know it will sweep them up, But I am curious if it will be able to pack them in because they are so thin and small. Should not be any different than grass, But I would like to try it and find out.

      @@steiger256 Thanks for the reply. I want to clarify what kind of needles I am talking about. They are Long Leaf pine trees and needles are a foot long, cones can be the size of your two fists together.

      @@JDSFLA larger than I was thinking. I'm sure needles would be no problem, Not sure on cones that size. I will have to try it on regular size ones to see how it works on them to get a idea on the big ones

    Mr. Steiger I am a fan. Great videos. Like to see more on the Steiner 430. Since I can't afford a Ventrac, what do you think of the Steiner 440. I am going to try and sell my 425 and get another machine.

      Thanks for watching. I am not a fan of the 440. A friend of mine had one and traded it for a Ventrac 4500. They had lots of frame issues with the 440. The frames were breaking. I think they fixed it with the 450, But I like the looks of the 440 way better. I'm sure they are not bad machines. I just don't like the feel of them. The front nose is really long and just feels awkward to me. I also like the SDLA lever on the Ventrac better. Some like the foot pedal, I personally hated it. Just my thoughts tho. There are lots of people that like them. I would definitely test drive one first tho.

      @@steiger256 As always thanks, you have helped with my decision .No Steiner 440 .

      @@stevenwingate8988 You see a lot of low hour 440 and 450 machines for sale. Some with 40 to 70 hrs. That is a red flag for me. Both Steiner And Ventrac are compable in price that's why I would choose Ventrac. Steiner attachments are not bad at all, I just feel Ventrac is always improving there products And they are more commercial use built.

    How does it work on wet grass

    • @steiger256
      @steiger256  Před rokem

      It has no problem picking up wet grass, But there is a few disadvantages I have found. If you collect really wet fresh grass it is best to sweep offset. If you tow it directly behind you the tractor will run over the wet grass and smash it down marking it sometimes difficult to pickup. Wet grass adds more weight it makes it harder to pack. You can usually only get a half load with really wet grass. I usually try to let the grass dry out a day or more it just makes it easier. You can sweep it wet, but dry is a better option if you have time to let it dry.

      Not sure on the new price due to prices always increasing. In the used market anywhere from 700.00 to 2300.00
