COMPONENTS - This is a little tough to discuss, since my copy is an early print with some flaws, mainly in the dice. But the cards are excellent. They have beautiful designs, embossed and raised sections, but still feel sturdy and shuffle well.

Looks much better than I thought. I’ll have to pick this up. I had no idea each set would play so differently.
You usually save me money by convincing me not to buy a game I’m kinda interested in, but today you’ve done the opposite. Not sure how I feel about that 😂

Cool! I was surprised that the dice had "sedimented", but nice to see they are supposed to have fixed that issue in the larger print run. Guess I'll play Solar Sentinels -> TMB -> Hoplomachus in that order. Just about a month away, I hope.

How thematic is it, or does it feel like mechanisms in plain sight with a thin skin of theme stretched over it?
I backed it, but I have been skeptical if they could pull off a smaller box and make it feel alive, but I love CT games so I have been hopeful.
So the different games have lots of differences that clearly reference and callback to the original game (TMB or Hoplo). The theme is kind of there, but I would say it’s definitely more mechanics-focused.

Really looking forward getting my pledge but I wonder what kind of troubles the drop-shipping from China will generate for me. The last time a developer had that great idea, it turned out to generate a couple of full on broadsides of customs bureaucracy and extra expenses.
How are the rulebooks? Well written or classic CTG style?
I of course don’t have a review copy to base this on, but they’re more recent rulebooks have been formatted much better than the original TMB and Cloudspire V1.0 rulebooks were. Coupled with this being a much lighter game I would have to assume the ruleset is digestible
I found the rules very clear and easy to learn from. The only challenge is that you have a main rulebook, and then a separate rules supplement for each set, so there will be some cross referencing as you play

Not sure. I think it’s getting close to delivery, maybe, which would mean retail might be the best bet? But honestly I don’t know 😅
