    The LED kit and the link module are only good if you plan to stick with the stock electronics, specifically the ESC and receiver. The receiver is actually quite good, but the ESC has a tendency to break. Loads of people have reported ESC critical failures after only a few weeks of ownership, if you're lucky enough to get this happen within the first 4-6 weeks of having the truck then Traxxas will send you a new ESC (this is what happened to me, critical failure after just 6 weeks), but if not covered by warranty then you need to decide if you want to spend $160 for the same ESC, or go for something cheaper and more reliable (and better performance) like a Hobbywing Max8, but the LED kit won't work anymore as well as most of the features on the link module app. In other words, had I known all this I wouldn't have bought the LED kit and link modules and with those savings it would have paid for a new Max8 ESC.

      This is actually wrong, it’s a free replacement the first time and discounted replacement for life. $60 for the VXL 4 esc from Traxxas.

      @thisIsRC Před 2 lety

      @@andrewnielsen4890 sure, fair enough. Doesn't change the fact that the stock electronics are substandard though!
      Also, it's only useful if you live in the US, otherwise with international shipping and duty fees it doesn't make sense.

      I run my Traxxas light kits still and have the hobbywing 2-1 fusion esc. I just use battery power to run the lights

      @@OldGreyBeard45 right, but that's not a plug and play solution right? And I'd imagine you lose the ability to control the lights from the Traxxas link app, and the brakes/reverse lights don't work?

    Question, how many individual light outputs are there? Also can you adjust the voltage for each out put?

    Do you need to buy sensors for getting the temp read out?

    • @chilly7261
      @chilly7261  Před 4 lety +2

      Not for the Maxx. It comes out of the box with the sensors for all the gauges on the app. You only need the bluetooth link in the transmitter. It calculates the mph tho, no GPS included

      @chilly7261  Před 4 lety +1

      No problem. I tested the app calculation versus GPS. It's very close if you don't spin the tires...

    It's so wasteful to replace the front and rear bumpers they should have made it like the x maxx where the holes are already in the bumper and you just added lights of course they didn't have a kit for the x-maxx so I had to buy one from Poland that bolted right in
    A year later I bought just the rear light kit and module separately and attached the rear lights to my existing bumper and I made front lights from the dollar store I'm extremely happy with it now

      Download the app, connect radio with bluetooth, turn truck on, go to dashboard. Should be there, telemetry is factory installed on the Maxx.
