  • In July of 2011, the Little River Railroad of Coldwater, Michigan celebrated the 100th "Birthday" of their 1911 Baldwin 4-6-2 #110. Also there was the Little River's 0-4-0T #1, Flagg Coal #75, Viscose #6, and Lehigh Valley Coal 0-6-0T #126 on her first public appearance since restoration.
    In this part we chase the Quintupleheader from Coldwater to Quincy and return. All five locomotives put on a great show and the display was very impressive both visually and audibly.

    In a recent visit to the gift shop at the Somkey Mountain State Park, I saw a picture of the 110 on their wall. In speaking with some of the employees there, they had no idea that the 110 was still active! Now they can tell the story about where it is today! I worked on the 110 crew from 1974 to 1980 and I'd do it all over again!

    The Head end consist looks quite hilarious. A load of 0-4-0 saddle tank engines, followed by a light Pacific.

    For a long time, I neglected following you. Why? Not sure. Thought you were someone else than what I see here. Great production! I am subbing you! I fanned this trip and got you on tape riding the train while you were filming!

    This video is very fitting. Little River #110 and #1 both operated in the Great Smoky Mountains, out of Townsend TN.

      The 110 is the only engine that came from the Little River Railroad in Townsend, Tennessee. The 1 came from Youngstown Steel Co.

    You should've shown the full train rather than fading after a few cars. The seventh car in the consist was an old World War II troop car. They were used to move troops across the country during the war. Very historic cars. Over all though it was still an awesome video!

    That was an impressive video. Great catch. Would love to see and photograph an event like this. Are the 110 and 2 still running? Do they do this yearly? Where is the little river located?

      @SmokyMtnSteam  Před 6 lety +2

      Thank you. This was just a one-time event for 110's 100th birthday but it might be repeated for her 110th Birthday in 2021. All the locomotives in this video except Flagg Coal 75 are still operational at their respective homes. The Little River Railroad runs out of Coldwater, Michigan.
