  • Today is a special day !!! I have one of the first FX Dreamline Lite's in the country for a FULL INDEPENDENT review and not a sponsored one that you have seen all the time
    So what is this Dreamline all about of a year of hype ? Is it worth it ? Is it any good ? Will I rip it apart ?

    Apparently the new Crowns and Dreamlines will ship with the new magazine system where the top comes off the magazine for easier loading. I searched high and low for this information and it was not available or found by me at the time of filming.. Sorry for any confusion on this.

    I love everything about the Dreamline, first of the accuracy is amazing up to 50 meters with standard 10Joule in .177. Stacking pellet in pellet at 30 meters.
    Its not an Impact for almost 2000 EUR, its not a Crown for 1500. Its a Dreamline Lite and it cost 950ish, really felt I purchased a premium rifle when I got mine and I recommend it to anyone!
    Thanks for the review, cant agree on everything in this world :)

    Great review! I am just researching which PCP I want and a nice walnut classic Dreamline came up on sale so I stopped and watched it. Very thorough. The DXreamline platform looks like a great unit for those who want to play with their toys as well as use them accurately as well. Thank you for this insightful detailed review and keep up the good work!

    Good points Steve about buying all the attachments / options and then settling on one configuration and the rest of the parts being left on a shelf. Lovely bit of kit though.
    If only it were easier to change things around and have it already zero'd in the new configuration.
    Auto config' / auto zero / that's what will come eventually.

      Thanks buddy and blush, people are starting to know me :) You can get around this if you plan ahead and mark your scope (depending on scope) with the correct POI's for .177 and .22. It is a bit hit and miss and you will still need to POI / Zero when swapping, but you can make it quicker.

  • @mickgarveyairattackmia4722

    Nice vid Steve ... many valid points. I got mine back in may and it came with the sideshot mag which threw me at 1st as i'd only seen vids of the Dreamline with the standard mag. I have a few FX's and I agree it's not the new big thing in airguns as you say but I also think it's not meant to be, it rather sits in-between everything as what it is ... a modular gun that can be anything you want it to be ... agreed it would cost a fortune to have every option but if you add enough for several different configurations it would be cheaper than buying several individual FX's ... I actually don't mind the mags but my gripe is the dovetail ... rather have picatinny any day. it is supremely accurate but mine is fac .22 and the shot count is somewhat low but the truck is never far away and my spare dive bottle lives there and even with a low ratio of 2/1 kill to shot ratio(heaven forbid) I would have my hands full with whatever the days quarry was. The forthcoming Dreamline Compact and Bottle versions are something that have grabbed my attention and e mails have already been sent to Sweden. Anyway enjoyed the vid and will be checking in again with you. A thumbs up!!

    Totally agree about the cassette style magazines, how can the pellet acting as a spring stop every shot not damage them? The Daystate/Brocock/Evanix/JKhan style mags are really the way to go. New Steyr mag is even better, separating the spring system from the loading method!

    At last a sensible review of this rifle system! It has struck me that FX have hit upon a great way to minimise their production and stock management systems whilst producing the perfect product for middle aged men with an addiction to gadgets and too much disposable income. Personally I want to pick up a rifle and shoot it with the same POA as when I last put it away. I don't have the time to muck about with calibre changes and re-zeroing, let alone spending even more money on different stocks, bottles, rails etc. If you have money, time and patience to burn then fine, go ahead. I will just buy different rifles for different jobs or styles of shooting.

      I dont know why you would swap Barrels? I owned a Rapid 7 years ago and it was accurate. It was great for the time but things have moved on. I remember the trigger was rubbish, I think they got it from Gamo. It was heavy too with the old style steel bottle in the days before Carbon or even Alloy bottles and talking about heavy, the cocking mechanism was industrial. If you can find an old one, a fill port / gauge / regulator add on is available. I keep looking on gun trader to see if any crop up but the majority are FAC and priced higher than a good new PCP air rifle. If one did crop up Im not sure I would actually seriously consider buying for any reason other than nostalgia.

    Outstanding review, Steve! You covered ALL the questions I had - not just about the rifle itself, but whether the modularity is something I really want...or need. I'm considering three rifles right now: the AA S510XS Ultimate Sporter, the Daystate Wolveriine 2, and the Dreamline in the classic configuration. I think I'm still leaning towards the Dreamline - for what it IS, not for what it COULD be. In any case, your info is greatly valued by me. Cheers!

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  Před 5 lety +1

      That is always the case. The onus is always on you and you are the one that ends up in trouble. The RFD is responsible for selling you a legal rifle and that is where it ends. The Dreamline is just like any other rifle in this case.

    I think in UK it can be compared to the Impact and Crown when you are talking about sub 12ft/lbs. But if you have a full power version my understanding is that the plenum is smaller and therefore the maximum power of the Dreamline is more limited.

The Streamline 11 shot mags fit the gun as well so you could use one of them instead, but the new ones will ship with smaller SideShot mags so the scope height shouldn’t be such an issue. I made a slight mistake due to information not being found at the time of recording. See the pinned post about the new magazine system they are releasing. Still stupidly expensive and a cop out if you ask me. Now you take the top off, slot in the pellets and put the top back on. All this does is avoid pellets not falling in correctly as they can't get their manufacturing tolerances correct this this style of mag.

    Think I’d still have an impact. At least then you can convert the magazine fittings over to the new type. That one has the magazine under the scope with metal underneath. So no chance of using anything else. At least the impact has the magazine at the butt end without anything under it.

      The Dreamline will soon come with the new magazine from FX

    as long as people realise that if they buy the tactical version, it doesn't come with a butt stock! really it doesn't, you have to buy a buffer and the butt seperatley .. madness

    FX Dreamline - Jack of all trades and master of none of them - why keep it simple when you can over complicate matters!!

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  Před 5 lety +1

      True, I have that feeling too. Good for FX and production, but is it for the customer ????

    So............you pay more for less!!.........FX must have some special Marketing formula working there, this is just a very clever Marketing Ploy, i can see the biggest market will be the U.S. who will buy into this Con in droves!!............or am i just being a bit cynical.?

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  Před 5 lety

      A little cynical, but there is some truth in it. It definitely works in FX favour and reduces cost and that is good for the customer. As long as they are wise about their purchases and are happy, it is good.
