    I am 61 years ago, long distance hiker, snowshoer, skier, winter mountaineer. Squatting and other exercises with weights keep my knees, feet, ankles, back, hips healthy and strong.

    If done correctly squats and push ups are the two most beneficial exercises you can do. But can be the most detrimental exercise if not done correctly. It’s so important to check your form…

    Squats also help my knees. Squats were the #1 reason for my success after my knee replacements. Don't underestimate squats.

      I had my right knee replaced back in 2011. Now my left knee started giving me a lot of pain. Started doing body weight squats a couple of weeks ago, leg extensions and leg curls on the machines and already feel improvement. Going to start doing squats with a light kettle bell and incorporate this with my regular exercise

    34 years ago l had 3 surgeries on my left knee and 2 surgeries on my right knee after I broke both knees simultaneously while playing basketball at the YMCA after a freakish injury after a sudden jump stop move proved too forceful for my knees as they both snapped instantly. My doctors had never heard of such an injury involving both knees while playing basketball.. This included a near fatal case of toxic shock syndrome when my left knee became infected while my wounds were healing. For the next 20 years I had knee pain and stiffness off and on. I assumed that would always be the case. Then I decided to focus on more mindful eating (losing 40 pounds in the process) and that was a game changer. Today at 55 years old I have virtually no knee pain and I'm in the best shape of my adult life. I also do squats 5 days a week as part of my job with no issues. Now I'm a weight loss coach with the goal of helping others overcome their own similar challenges. Have you heard of a similar injury to the one l experienced? I'm very curious. Thank you

    Knees can go over toes. It loads the knees more and can help with knee pain.

      I started the same 2 months ago. I got dizzy and was very unstable the first couple of days but improved fast and now I'm doing 5 sets of 20 also 3 times a week. Soon I will start adding some weight 🙂

    I combine my squash like a super set. I squat down with the dumb bell come up. Do 2 hand curls. immediately. Do overhead press then I go back down to the 2 hand curls. and back to the squat.

      Everyone is different. Try 10-15 reps for three sets. If it's too hard or easy, add or subtract reps.

      @@CamelJockey562 whatever gets u the gains do u can squat with the barbell or do body weight squats witch is much more safer to do I did 100 bodyweight squats 2 times a week I'm telling you it will improve ur walking speed besides bone density and also it improves your running speed

      No it can be dangerous with dodgy knees. You need decent joints to do squats and they will protect the already strong joints. They are not recommended for damaged joints as they can be very taxing and cause further damage

      Me too. The answer is yes but only if you have 100% form and you are sensible with your lifts and listen to your body. Any deviation from that and you will make your scoliosis worse. I’m currently only squatting 40kg. You should not overload your spine with axial loading with a scoliosis. Less is more.

      Body weight reps till you quiver, then another set till ya quiver. Day two, if ya up for it a set, till ya quiver.
      Daily, for the rest of the week ... til ya quiver. Two sets.
      Week two, now you've likely figured the number of reps it takes to get ya "weak kneed" ... two sets.
      Week three, add a rep or two ... daily, two sets. Week 4, three sets.
      Next month take a five pound bag of sugar, salt, flour ... or sand, somethin 'bout five pounds. Hold it pressed between the palms of your hands held 'bout chest level and do your squats.
