- Besides growing up watching The Rifleman, why am I reviewing a lever action rifle? Because lever action is the truly Ambi friendly manual action.

Excellent video, highly detailed on all the pluses & minuses about the rifle, the caliber, comparing against other rifles.
Excellent footage in multiple areas & situations.
Very enjoyable, thanks for sharing.
Sincerely,
Matthew
Cheek riser made all the difference for field marksmanship.
@AmbGun Heck Yeah, that's awesome, congratulations.
A Rock Solid Cheek weld definitely makes a difference.
Thanks for your business, 👍🏻👊🏻
New subscriber here! I didn't even know this rifle existed. Great review 🎉
Check out our 9 video playlist on Henry....22LR, 17HMR, and the Long Ranger.

Nice review with lots of information on accessories.
Thanks. Fitting the Long Ranger with receiver mounted peep sights would be another possibility, but for running an optic that cheek riser was critical.
I never bought the Long Ranger. I already owned guns in the calibers offered. Does not mean I would not love one though. I have a Henry 22LR, 44mag, and 30-30. That 30-30 surprised me the most. Using Leverevolution powder, a Hdy 150gr RN, the gun is about .5" at 100yds. I live in the brush country of South Texas. Shots on game rarely reach 125yds. Most are closer. My 30-06 is a great gun, but I'm not young and tired of its recoil. Anyway, thanks for the review. Cool rifle. Yes, I want one, but cannot justify it.
I hope to review the Henry 22mag next year.
This is an excellent video.
Glad you liked it! It's an excellent rifle...that helps.
I don’t see that Matthew’s offers their risers for Henry stocks? Did you just choose a generic one and make it work? I agree… great gun but hindered significantly by old school stock angles
Check with Matt, he has the measurements for the Henry stock. He made it custom for the Henry.
Great review👍😊. I’m interest in the 16” long ranger. Is the 7lb weight noticeable when hunting? How is the recoil would you say for younger shooters?
The weight and overall length is noticeable when carrying in rough terrain. But wouldn't be a factor if hunting from an ATV or horseback. And weight does steady things a bit for marksmanship. I do like the 20" barrel for it's minimum flash and blast. I prefer a bare 20" barrel over a 16" fitted with a flash hider.
A young shooter will fare well. A first time shooter should consider a 22LR or 22mag as a first rifle...and attend a Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic.
I have a 22LR/17HMR Henry rimfire video. Problems with 17 on the Henry lever stopped that series for the moment...hope to pick it up again with 22mag.
How much did your cheek riser raise your head for your optic would you say (1”, 1.25”, or 1.5”). Just wondering since I’m considering some solutions while my model is still waiting to arrive👍.
Currently set at about 1". That's with my Leupold VX-Freedom 1.5-4 mounted very low.
I never heard of a manual action. We call that a lever gun in canada
"Manual action" encompassing both lever and bolt action.
@@AmbGun I see
When you cant buy extra mags thats an issue. I have a mossberg mvp thunder ranch in 308 and extra mags, a ruger american ranch in 5.56 with extra mags. all 10 rounders! sold all my ar style guns long ago. same with military style shotguns. sticking with lever, bolt, or double and single barrels in rifles and shotguns. with the obligatory ruger stainless takedown 10/22. most handguns are revolvers these days. sold most of my semi autos. Dont feel under gunned out in my remote location. Not worried about gangs or roving bands of fleshy headed mutants. I can see them coming in my long rang scopes from way off!
I reviewed the MVP Scout a couple years ago. Liked it, but it didn't have the fluted barrel of the Thunder Ranch. I really like that the MVP's use AR mags.
While I may score better with the Henry Long Ranger when I do my AQT shootout, when it comes to carrying in the field I really like the MVP Predator...I can't believe Mossberg discontinued it.
where can i find one of these? everywhere I call doesn't have one!
You'll probably have to special order one...and be on a waiting list.
They need to make these to take ar mags
A missed opportunity to differentiate the Long Ranger from the Browning BLR.
@@AmbGun definitely a missed opportunity. Somebody needs to hop on that a create an actual modern lever action
Toooooooppp tooooooooooppppp
