Hey you - yes, you, reading this. Just wanted to say a huge thanks for coming over and supporting a small channel like mine 🔥 You don't know how much I appreciate it! Had the xm3 and recently bought the xm4's and I'm so glad I did the sound quality is much better and less drowned out by bass and the mids and treble sound clearer. I loved the xm3's but always wished they sounded abit clearer and the xm4's have improved on that
Maybe not worth the upgrade, but for someone like me who’s in the market for his first pair of noise canceling over the ear headphones, let me tell you, I have zero regrets purchasing these headphones. I am in love with them.
If you have the M3 then don't upgrade, but if you have anything less than the M3 then it's definitely worth the upgrade.

I just bought the Bose QC35 II and I think it's broken because the sound is louder on the right side than on the left one with almost all my songs on the iPhone. It's weird as I don't have this problem when watching CZcams or movies on my Ps4 voa cable. But I like the fact that you can replace the ear cups and the ANC is pretty good imho. Should I still go for the Sony? XM3 or XM4?
Are you sure, it would be my first anc headphones, but I can't spend almost 400€ on headphones, is there somethong better for 250€ then the m3

I loved how clean the editing and overall review was.
I think you described the sound quality differences perfectly ... and for me made me buy the XM4 whereas I did not like the XM3 and its bass dominated dark sound.
The EQ using the graphic equaliser is excellent - never mind the presets, just customise it to your tastes. The XM4s respond impressively to alterations. Thanks for a very good quality thoughtful review!!
Same here because he compared the sound quality so perfectly made me buy Wh1000xm4 instead of the Wh1000xm3. And belive me or not I have got a brand new pair from ebay for £160 sealed box lol
I am sticking with the xm3 model. I only had a few months. I like the comfort ( i get a good night sleep in them) battery life meets my needs. The sound quality is enjoyable. I like the ability to use the app to customize what I listen to. I was able to dial the xm3 to sound amazing with old grateful dead concert recordings.

Nice review. I do notice that no one seems to talk about the way increased white noise on the XM4s. More over it seems more prominent in the right ear cup, making it that more distracting. I listen at low volumes and often in a quiet environment, total deal breaker for me. Same story on 2 pairs of XM4 with the XM3 on hand to compare.

just got a pair of xm4's from ebay, certified refurbished for 160 USD, very well made, the quality is immediately noticeable, sound is really good and the anc is fantastic, I live on a busy street that sometimes has little racecars go by and I cant even hear them at all even with no sound just anc. so xm4's are 10/10 for me.

The reason I wanted these headphones were because they are considered the best and as of right now the mx4 is the best so I have no regrets purchasing them

Nice to allow multi pairing and have an improved soundstage. I'm staying on MX3 for once! For home use, they are great and surpass with a soundstage for a little even Sennheiser Momentum 2 wired.

The upgrade was massively worth it for me. The 2.4ghz spectrum is severely crowded/polluted where I live, and I constantly get audio stutter and random disconnections on my xm3. I don’t have these issues on my xm4 or Bose NC 700. Granted, I only paid $280 for my xm4.

I was confused between the two, initially wanted to save the extra cash and just get the XM3s, but this review and especially the closing comments towards the end convinced me to save up just a tad bit more and go all in for the XM4s.
Never had on of these models but Will go for the 4.

sony has top tier customer service tho i had a fault in my xm3s so since they were under warranty, sent the invoice as proof of purchase and the headphones to get them repaired and they just sent the xm4s as a replacement as an apology for the 'inconvenience'

Absolutely loved this review, unlike most reviewers you mentioned about everything that was needed to be said (even details like how EQ changes don’t revert you back to SBC anymore etc)
One hint maybe: for the ANC test you should maybe also provide samples during loud environments: 1 with low frequencies (like an engine) & 1 with high frequencies (cafe noise for example).

I’ve tried both xm3 and xm4, the bass on xm3 is stronger and more physical and more enjoyable when watching CZcams or movies, I wish Sony can add more bass to xm4 via firmware update 🙂
These are meant for music tho. Which, a lot of bass destroys. (It still sounds good on the xm3, because they are still good headphones. But too heavy bass doesn’t give room to high-ends and steals the show from the mids)

My xm3s have just broken after years of use. After seeing the lackluster xm5 and minimal changese to the xm4s i might honestly just buy another pair of xm3's. Havent had a problem with them for years so i dont see why i cant save a couple hundred dollars and get the same ones. Thanks for the video!

At the moment both are at $350 for some weird reason but I found the Xm3s for $250 and I think that's well worth the price. sure I could spend $100 more and get the newer pair or I could save those $100 for something else ☺️

Hello, noob question, if you would connect MX4 via jack to your sound card, would you experience higher sound quality playing FLAC file then using Bluetooth connection?
So I've had the xm3s since the release in 2018 I think im gonna upgrade to the xm4s thanks for the review very detailed to have a better idea if its worth the upgrade or not and it seems like it might be thank you.

I currently owe both of XM's. In my opinion is really worth to go for XM4. Im listening Tidal using LDAC, mainly on galaxy s21 Ultra. In this combination I strongly recommend XM4's. Sound is more crisp, bass is well balanced and much better comparing to XM3. Overall sound is not that muddy. Of course if someone have no 2 pairs to compare directly, difference is less noticeable, both are great, however for someone who looks for more balanced sound XM4 is the way. Id also EQ in the app is cooperating with LDAC, it was not an option with XM3's.

i'm wondering... as the M3 doesnt have a option to connect to different devices at the same time, can you still connect to both an ipad and android phone and switch easily ?
i assume the simultanious option only means you can have sound coming in form bot devices at the same time ?

No. It just means that you can switch between using your phone and your Mac or pc, without having to turn off the Bluetooth on either, and just press play and it cuts the other one off and plays on the one you pressed play on
Do you think the wh-xm3 are getting discontinued now that the xm5 came out?
When you did the sound comparison, to me the xm4’s sounded significantly improved on presence, sound stage, and overall clarity. It really made it sound more “live”. In the audiophile world those differences aren’t taken lightly. It was as though a thin obstruction was removed from between myself and the music source.
I didn’t hear a significant difference in bass boost between the two, although that might just be my hearing in that range.
Plus the XM4 also has multipoint pairing over the XM3, which is another big advantage for the XM4. Also, the EQ in the Sony's headphone app cooperates with LDAC for XM4, as XM3 doesn't have that option.
Those were some of the reasons why I've gotten it over the XM3, despite the XM3 being cheaper. It's my first Sony headphone, by the way.
@@WizardOfWor You definitely made the right choice. I got my wife a pair of XM4 for Christmas so I can now directly compare against my old XM3, and the XM4s are significantly improved in audio quality, particularly in clarity.

Agreed - I genuinely thought the mic quality on the XM4s would also be great for people who just need to record their voice in general for whatever purpose. Wouldn't say that about most headphone mics!
mrkwd - tech guy the problem here, at least using my XM3’s is that When you use it (bluetooth) with windows, the audio doesnt work if you are using the microphone. For example in games that have voice chat the audio is muted. So idk if they are really useful for conference calls.

Hi, do not a lot of users face the noise hissing sound wit prolonged ANC or is it just my mind that is amplifying it after reading a few such subreddits/threads. CUS, I never see these issues on videos reviewing the XM4's. So can I ignore those and buy these? I'm done waiting, I've waited for 2 months just in anticipation of good headphones. Although I'm used to the overall experience of not heaving headphones now, I still wanna have em you know

i just upgraded my mx3s i used the 360 scan of my ears and the sound improvement is incredible i did this after 8 months of use and i am just stunned in the difference in sound quality

@@craigmiddlemiss6917 I did that last night. I'm still testing out the headphones and trying to warm up to them. I still have my xm3 I don't really see much of an upgrade. I think the beats studios 3 is one of the overall all purpose use headphones with great sound quality for everything. It's louder and nicer too. Sony last their touch in electronics years ago. The xm4 isn't worth 350 either. I'll be doing a review on them soon. I have an unboxing video of both the studios and xm4 to put up
