  • Kanom Tian ขนมเทียน is a glutinous coconut dumpling steamed in fragrant banana leaves in the shape of a pagoda. Often prepared for important holidays like Lunar New Year and Songkran, but can be found it being sold as street food all year round. This dessert is regarded as an auspicious food item and can be given as offerings. Kanom Tian symbolizes the sweetness of life. May this holiday season bring you warmth, good health, and self-fulfillment.

      They can usually be found in the freezer section of a local Asian or Hispanic store. Banana leaves impart a lot of aroma when cooked. Thank your watching!

    Sawadee ka P'Thun 🥰🙏 I'm not good at wrapping with the banana leaves (always break it 😅)
    I remember when I was a child, my sister and I love to eat this dessert very much. What's funny is I like to eat that coconut filling and she likes to eat that coconut milk flour. That's why we never fight for this dessert. 🤣 have a great day and take care ka! 🥰🙏

      Sawadee krub N'Nin 🙏 you sister just likes the coconut milk flour? It needs the filling for the taste to be complete. Since the weather is not hot enough here, I have to heat the banana leaves over the fire to make them stronger. It actually helped prevent them from breaking 😁 I hope you have a nice week na krub ☺️

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  Před rokem +1

      Thank you so much for trying this dessert! 😊 Banana leaves are fragile, they can tear easily. Did you heat them up first to make them easier to fold? Make sure to fold them tightly. You can also make smaller dumplings too.
