Hey Tim nice review, thanks again but I have 2 things about the don’t like 5. 1. USB outlets, they do make a USB splitter which will save you from an argument with the wife, but I agree in a vehicle that expensive they could provide them. 2. The fuel mileage. You should have filled it up before the test. You mentioned they brought it with a full tank but the gage will read full and still be 3 gallons from the pump clicking off. So you really don’t know for sure and 3 gallons on you math will make a difference . As I mentioned in the past I have a 3.5 and the last 6 fill up I have been averaging 22.4, but that has been about 75% highway driving @70.. And one last think, still watching for that Explorer ST review.. Just keeping it out there so you don’t forget.. Have a great weekend and thanks again.

My experience is Ford's 4WD systems are simply better than what GM puts on their trucks. I have a neighbor with a Tahoe and an H2. He lives on a side road with perhaps a 4% incline to the main road, during the winters if the streets freeze or even with compressed snow the Tahoe and the H2 struggle to get up that slope, spinning the right rear and left front, while their companion wheel just sits there, clearly these are completely open differentials. I've sat at the bottom of the slope for 15 minutes while he just spins and spins never did I see all four wheels spin in unison. Neither my 99 nor my 19 F150 will even spin a wheel on the same slope, I just go right up with no issues. I have never seen one of my F150's spin just one front wheel at a time. The 99 had a mechanical locking rear and that would kick in quickly, the 2019, has an electronic locking rear, I've never had to use it though, the front axle will always put power to both wheels if it's engaged. I have used the 99 on a farm to free stuck tractors. If that truck is in 4x4 high, all four wheels spin in unison all the time, though with a stuck tractor even that often won't do the trick.
Perhaps there is something wrong with my neighbor's vehicles, however based on what I have seen with my own eyes I would not take a Chevy 4x4 out in the snow period, they are basically AWD systems, poor AWS systems at that.
And yes the 99 lasted 20 years without major issues, I'm handing it down to a niece after her husband bought a used Land Rover that worked for all of 1 week before the transmission locked and they sold it for salvage.

Pretty awesome vehicle Tim. I think the gen2 3.5 ecoboost is one of Fords best light duty engines right now. Ultimate family hauler in winter conditions. I'm not sure who would actually off road one of these with the price, so independent rear with no articulation is a non factor IMO. I'd have this one over the GM just due to the frame wax situation and the salt around here.

Eco mode only helps around town and keeps you from making those jackrabbit take offs from red lights. It does nothing on the HWY at all and I think it's terrible for the hwy because up there you want that torque when you need it. I average 22 hwy and 17 city. Using fuelly app I hand calculate at about 17.5 but the latest road trip I had all hwy I got 20. Wet/snow mode is similar to eco mode. The trip computer is ALWAYS about 1 gallon off hand calculated.
