I'm putting random parts back on the Firebird! Sometimes there's a plan, sometimes not. This week I also reveal the color the Firebird is going to get!
I know its too late now, but Akzo supplies paint to the heavy truck industry who has an endless color palate. I was once told that a trucker walked into Kenworth to meet for his truck build and they asked him what color he would like his truck, he reached in his pocket and pulled out a pair of his wife's panties, "I want this color" and they matched it to a T.
The paint I will be using is called Imperium - it's a brand made by AkzoNobel. Matching a color is no big deal anymore. Almost all paint stores will have a scanner of some kind for that but since the color I wanted was only in my (pea) brain I was afraid that if they held the scanner up to my head the color that came out would be - dust!
I'm going to give the color naming a few more days before picking the winner - I'm deliberately not commenting on names for now, don't want to lead anybody down any particular path!
Black....really?.......in the deep south? Good thing you've got an A/C. It will look gorgeous though. Maverick Cyrillic Black, although that does tie it to a Ford Maverick. (Ewwww, do you want that?) It'll be awesome to see it on the car.
Sounds similar to butyl tape used in the marine world. I've had mixed results with that if it's the same stuff. We will have to see if the RTV I used holds up because - too late - I did it already😏
Cannot wait to see it on the car! My 79 T/A was black with a lt. blue interior. I think that mix would be a great color for a tribute car. Now all I have to do is find the car. And pay for it. Oops.. there's the problem!🤣 Blue on Black czcams.com/video/IMCfSjF_vSg/video.htmlsi=50h_986xIBfEpV_5
I forgot to mention that whoever comes up with the best name will get a free Maverick Mods hat. Not to add any pressure or anything 🤔😁
Tuxedo Blue
A touch of class mixed with a touch of blue collar gotta love it
Now lets go sailing
Love colours that look dark but light up in the sun. I'd call that colour Midnight Icefire
