      True but Ser Arthur Dayne, Gerold Hightower, and all of the other kingsguard willingly served the Mad King, and, unlike Jaime, did not seem to feel any remorse for allowing him to endulge in his atrocities. Hightower even prevented Jaime from interfering with Aerys raping the Queen. What do you think they would have done if they were in Jamie's position that night? I personally think they would have let the city burn because the King said so.

    • @shortstuff780
      @shortstuff780 Před 6 lety +26

      Nathan Luz no he's was always a hero.. he killed the mad king regardless of how vows. He realized that he cannot blindly follow a king who does not care for his citizens meanwhile every key Knight has followed a blinded king or has their demons, Jamie truly is in/was in love with Cersei you cannot fault who he loves regardless how backwards it is.

    • @MadScientist021
      @MadScientist021 Před 6 lety +16

      Josef Boroff Dayne, Hightower and the others wouldn't let Aerys burn the city, but they wouldn't kill him either. There where other ways of preventing Aerys from burning the city without killing him. Jaime killed Aerys because Jaime doesn't care about vows, he did not like Aerys, Jaime did not want to be on the losing side, so killing Aerys was something easy for him. Jaime is not a hero, he sat on the throne and did nothing while his father's men killed the innocent members of the royal family.

    • @MadScientist021

    @LusiaEyre Před 2 lety +8

    I will be forever gutted that Robert's Rebellion was so underplayed in the show. Despite not regretting killing the King, the past clearly weighs on Jaime and is a big part of his character arc. His disillusionment with Kingsguard and 'true knights' mixed with a clear longing for their approval and the persistent idolasation of Arthur. He's ready to fight them (bull*siting his way through his chances really) but still calling them his brothers. And the allegory of Cersei being his one light at the beginning, holding the only torch... no wonder he sunk into his toxic family and dove head first into his obessive love of Cersei after there was no one left for him apart from them. Only ones to accept him still. And they are leaving, as the two parts of him battle for domination - Arthur Dayne and Smiling Knight.

      Rhaegar shouldn’t have abandoned his children and wife to go bed a 14 year old.

      Jaime didn't just let them die, according to this same dream he was killing the King WHILE the Mountain attacked the children. So, he didn't save those kids, but he saved everyone else in KL

    I get why this wasn't used in the show. Showing Rhaegar this early would have been a mistake.

      In the contrary, knowing about him beforehand would have seeded foreshadowing, instead of pulling him off a hat in season 5.

    Imagine if it is acceptable for bodyguards to kill their boss whenever they hear them order killings of innocent people.
    He would have been a legendary bad ass leading the defense of the red keep against his fathers army and eventually escorting the royal family out of kingslanding.

      Delusion where? 😂😂😂
      The king didn't just intend to kill innocent people, it was the parallel of blowing up an entire city with half a million people living in it.
      Besides, how was he supposed to lead the king's army, when he was just a 17 year old boy, do you really believe what was left of the king's army would've followed him into battle, especially knowing his father was the one attacking the city?

      Kram I think it would be cool if Jaime and/or Stannis die by fighting off white walkers at the wall to allow Jon and company to escape, maybe at the end of book 6 or something

      The Law
      I‘ve found the interview.
      George says that no characters of his books are wholly good or wholly evil..some see themselves as heroes but have committed acts of tyranny..others are seen as villains,as you see Jaime,but they also have done acts of compassion,or kindness,and they have people who love them.

    Thank god it's not Roy Dotrice reading. His creaky, saliva replete characterizations drove me near to insanity. And I wasn't very impressed with his acting. Though this isn't much better. I honestly wish narrators would just read the book and not do voices for the characters. Keep the emotion but don't try to perform the text and for fuck's sake DON'T DO VOICES. It's a pet peeve of mine.
