Bob Carolgees presented this show from Alton Towers which featured a giant-sized gameboard. It always started with the Granada 'G' logo over the action. Ref:XT4/154/02:07
The co-host of the first series was Pauline Black, formerly lead singer with 2-Tone band The Selecter, who had just split up when Granada were looking for someone to set Bob Carolgees up...
Tickle On The Tum also incorporated the Granada G logo into its opening sequence. I think Allsorts did, too. Probably a quirky policy they had with all their children's output.
@@nikkic36 it's the outro to a track called "Your" the last one on the fantastically nutty Forging Ahead album, it starts off fairly happy then ends "you're on your own, you're in a home, you've gone completely MENTAAAALL!!!" and then goes into the whacky fairground ride music. Album also has the equally bonkers Educating Marmalade theme song from TV show around the same time.
There were also performances from pop and rock artists plugging their latest singles. In fact, the final series ditched the game show entirely and just had the musical acts performing in Alton Towers.
The odd thing about Hold Tight! was the fact that Alton Towers, the theme park that it was based at, wasn't even in the Granada region - it was in the Central area.
The Potteries area, though ultimately covered by Central (and ATV before then) was also a fringe area for Granada. Likewise with parts of North Wales where you could get Granada as well as HTV Wales. Similarly, Granada Goals Extra used to show highlights from Stoke City's and Port Vale's matches as well as Manchester United's and Manchester City's games.
Why is it odd Darling Buds was based and filmed in Kent but made by Yorkshire TV, Touch Of Frost was based in Midlands and Supergran was made by Tyne Tees
@@steveh31 Frost was largely filmed in West Yorkshire (mainly in Wakefield, Castleford and Pontefract) and Super Gran on Tyneside (Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and South Shields).
