- This clip contains a recap of the series' first episode plus the opening to the second episode. The series was based, of course, on the 1976 sci fi movie starring Michael York and Jenny Agutter. In this 1977-78 series, their roles are played by Gregory Harrison (TRAPPER JOHN, M.D.) and Heather Menzies (THE SOUND OF MUSIC, LAND OF THE GIANTS). All 14 episodes of LOGAN'S RUN can be watched on Warner Archive's streaming service.

Loved this show watched it every week with Mom. Loved the music and the gun.
Anybody else have a growing feeling of panic with the increasing pace of the 'Pew!-Pew!. Pew-Pew! sounds?'
🤣🙌
Rem.......... marvellous eyebrows
The 1970s wonderful decade!!!!
Yes. If you love pure crap.
70s and 80s sci-fi was the best ha ha ha!
RIP DC Fontana, who wrote and edited scripts for Star Trek, Logan's Run, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Walton's and other great TV shows.
😞
It's a shame nobody ever shows this anymore
RIP Heather Menzies! Thanks for posting this! I LOVED this show as a kid!!! :)
Randy Waage I hope she is in heaven
Now REM the android may he r i p also in The Thing & The Terminal man
I had SUCH a crush on her 😍
@@rromero7849 LoL me too, had a big poster of her in my bedroom, I was six when this aired, loved every episode.
The theme needs more “bew bew bew bew’s”
Who remembers that great solar-powered car they drove.?
I suppose that was the Telsa mark zero.
I do I wonder is that what Joe Biden is going to replace with the vehicles lol.
Those aliens they release in this episode are damn near 1977 Star Wars Cantina quality.
Those were actually based on halloween masks made by the very well known Don Post Studios back in 1977.I can remember them being advertised on the back cover of starlog and fangoria magazines back in the day. They also did an incredibly detailed Alien facehugger that came in its own display case and cost a whopping $399.95!![this was back in 1980 us dollars though].
The most bad ass gun ever!
I agree and I loved those guns
Yea a MAJOR bad ass gun 🙂
They've never done a faithful adaptation of the original novel. In the book the Sandman Francis wasn't Logan's nemesis, but a protector who was secretly helping Logan and others to escape when they became runners. And unlike in the film, where Sanctuary is nothing but a myth, it's revealed in the novel that Sanctuary is an abandoned colony near Mars.
Fun fact, in the book the gun fires several different ammo types, including a pretty nasty heat seeker, the weapon and ammo was basically ripped off for the Judge Dredd comic, with the concept of Judges influenced by Sandmen.
Frances was also an old man incognito.
When I saw REM in "the thing" in 82 I was like WTF ....
They should do the remake of this one!!! One of my favorites!!
if they make a re-make it will be better that disney don,t do it
1976 movie was better. And a remake was made. Called The Island from 2005
The Island wasn't a remake. It was a pastiche of several classic dystopian films but definitely not a remake.
Choose worst sound on synthesiser- theme for Logan’s Run
sounds like a blaster trying to imitate a fire engine
wow takes me back to being a child!!! :)
Donald Moffat never seemed to age on screen over the decades.
I remember this short-lived TV series based on the 1976 film, when they used to broadcast on Saturday nights on LWT, and now I`ve got the complete series on DVD [only on Region 1], and one of my favourite actress is the Heather Menzies [who plays Jessica 6 in the TV series], but sadly missed her now and I thought she plays so well throughout. This series ran 14 episodes for one series as far as I know, but I do like the intro and outro theme tune most of all.
there is a word for this: PAINFUL and this is coming from someone who liked the movie.
Yo miraba esta serie en el 1977, cuando tenía siete u ocho años, que recuerdos.
i love the show
All i remembered from this show was the first few seconds of the intro..now seeing this i do remember the lead actor vaguely 😊
Bew bew bew

Music writers strike in 1977
pew pew pew! seems like standard B-show space disco music.
Yeah man, I can do some serious cat moves to this. Bew bew bew!
That's hideous....the music once it stops is pretty cool though.
It's weird that i don't remember that part of the song....Was damn awful and better off without it.
Exactly! 😆
In the 1970's no matter how serious the ambiance of the show, the actors all smile in the titles as if they have just been given their cake at a surprise birthday party. Only Randy Powell as the bad guy seems to stay in character.
Great footage, thank you
Great sci fi show CBS never gave this show a chance.
I remember watching this in reruns on Ted Turner's TNT back in the 90/91 Season and I agree, CBS should've gave this show a longer run
Gonzo Gates from Trapper John, M.D. vs. Alan Beam from Dallas
@@tnawcwvictoria the intro theme needed a lot of work.
I loved this show as a kid and was very upset when they cancelled it so soon. The same with The Fantastic Journey with Roddy McDowall that also debuted in 1977 and only ran one year. I actually saw all the Logan's Run TV show episodes before I ever saw the actual movie.
I agree, the show should have been continued for further seasons. CBS probably would have made much on royalties for the toys and other items based on the show.
Movie 1976 was better
The music was good, the pew pew pew is what ruined it.
Good production. Can't wait to see it.
I love this series. thank you 👍🇳🇿
I found this on TUBI with Man from Atlantis Battlestar Galactica Buck Rogers Shazam Space 1999'and V
Never seen this. I loved the film. I've a feeling this couldn't cut it after the likes of Star Wars appeared. That music though. Pew pew pew! Pew pew pew!
I liked this TV series better then the Original Movie. Am I the only one?
So glad the movie was better.
I was a kid then, I loved the goofy original Battlestar Galactica, reruns of Lost in Space, even the equally short-lived Planet of the Apes series. But I never ever watched this show. Might have been scheduled against something I liked a lot more...
I'm actually watching Planet of the Apes TV series on DVD. TV was really bad quality back then. Like Star Lost. 😝
Saudades dessa série no Brasil
La musique du générique est exceptionnelle !
Gregory Harridon was hot.
They never did find Sanctuary. I get the impression they didn’t quite know what they were looking for there.
Run runner
I remember seeing this as a kid....man did it suck...
F be right f be a csc fv a bee he
REM just made his transition.
nice
I always wondered who REM was suppossed to be based on when it came to the original film---Box--maybe? (My birds!! MY BIRDS!!!!)
MGM makes a big-budget follow-up to 2001: A Space Odyssey, releases it in 70mm and 6-track Dolby Stereo. One year later, it's shown on ABC TV. One week later, its TV-series spinoff begins its run, with a pilot episode that is a complete remake of the movie, only with a tiny budget. A handful of episodes later, the TV show is cancelled. ABC really sunk it.
The TV series aired on CBS.
They should remake this
2005 the island
dat glass bottle
If Blade Runner or Aliens had been made into a TV show would the cast have been smiling for their cast credit shot in the titles? SOooooo 1970's to show all cast members with a cheesy grin in a serious (?) TV drama show.
Anywhere I can find full episodes of this?
Torrents...

and BTW, I use to watch this on Ted Turner's TNT and I can't wait to buy this on DVD as I'm a fan of this series
Logan 5 vs. Francis 7 aka Gonzo Gates from Trapper John, M.D. vs. Alan Beam from Dallas and Francis was no match for Logan and Alan Beam was certainly no match for J.R. Ewing
MGM Television via Turner Broadcasting gave us Logan's Run: The Series, "CHiPs", Daktari, Medical Center and of course, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

#rip Donald Moffit
The theme sounds like a cops episode…
May I post this on my small Facebook group Television Treasures please?
You can share it to Facebook.
@@ClassicFilmTVCafe appreciated.
But the MELODY of the them sounds TOO FAMILIAR - is it Star Wars, Superman? ANYONE can tell me?
Every late 70s tv theme show sounds like that.
Great song ditch the annoying laser sound.
donald moffat was never young
He sounds like John Kerry
Star wars battle star Galactica robo tech
The synth effect at start and finish could’ve been taken away and you would’ve had a decent tune.
Lordy, I do NOT remember those god awful 70s synth drums in the title song. Eep.
Movie was better. 14 episodes was good enough for this series. Too many episodes would be hard
Heather Menzies >Jenny Agutter.
No freaking way.
I remember seeing this tv show. It was a dreadful knockoff of the movie.
It was crap, but it had a hot chick in a mini skirt...that was all I needed
Terrible music, but great sci-fi, about a world where 30 (years old) was the limit...
OMG that was terrible. No wonder it only lasted less than one season lmao
No, this failed because they kept moving around the time slot. Nobody knew when it was going to be on television and what time. Kids liked this show but it wasn't really for adults other than Heather Menzies. This was actually a fairly expensive show to produce.
@S D Haha - I watched it as a 7-8 year old kid.
It was a kid's show mostly, and a sexy woman for the adult men, and a good looking man for the adult women.
I've seen the show as an adult, but I can only enjoy it ironically .
If you want to see something REALLY awful by the way, go look up The Starlost. Just horrific. Science fiction is RARELY done right in films or television because the expense of the production needs to have a wider appeal than just to nerds.
@S D The Starlost is absolutely awful and you can probably find it here, because it's absolutely unmarketable.
Silent Running is also an awful film filled with 70's doomsday propaganda.
@S D Well, although I entirely believed in "global warming" and "climate change" at one time, I cannot deny reality. It's bunk. Just as much as the Population Bomb from Paul Ehrlich was. I grew up with these scares, but they are entirely false. Yeah, we are adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, it's NOT a greenhouse gas, and it's actually increasing the availability of plant life. Our planet is greener now than when I was a child, and there's been no significant climate distortions. I'm 50. There's no emergency, and we are not destroying the planet.
We WILL eventually run out of petrochemical resources though but using them at the moment, it's not hurting the planet, if anything, it's paradoxically helping it it seems. We will need to find alternatives in time.
I think there is a bright future but we are going through a dark time (seemingly) as people become aware of how this world actually works. We do have a ruling class, and it spans nations and these people are utterly criminal and barely human. You may scoff at this idea but I'm certain it's correct. We have no need for war, or conflict, we have unlimited communication and education available now. They've guarded those for centuries, and now the ruling class are finding they are obsolete. They create conflict for their own selfish ends. They keep us in the dark in order to hold our support, but we're going to bypass them.
Neither left or right are solutions. It's true and false, that's the struggle. I don't think it's possible to make a paradise on this planet, it just doesn't work in evolution, but we can have a generally better life. Ayn Rand never described a paradise, and she was hopelessly naive as well. Every system is a libertarian system, just perverted, as all libertarian systems become.
I looked up your profile, I'm rather surprised at what I perceive as your viewpoint. Generally I find that people that complain about "ableism" or really ANY prejudice to be "left wing". Perhaps that's a prejudice I have, I've just eliminated it.
There's no real left and right, it's true and false, moral and immoral, correct and wrong. Those are the lines of the war and this war, has been going on, probably since existence. I know what side I'm on, even if it's the losing side. I was once a very astringent atheist, but I've never abandoned my moral principles and I never will, god willing.
The theme music is awful.
