Some tend to be harsh on the flashy lightsaber combat in the prequels, but they have to understand in the Star Wars story at the time period, the Jedi were much more active and had much more in numbers obiviously than the Original Trilogy did. I for one loved everything about to saber combat of the prequels. 👍
TheBagOnline- I agree. The prequels showed what a Jedi could do when trained from birth. It was also cool to see each of the seven lightsaber fighting styles being used.
To be honest I think the only valid complaint about the prequels would be the dialogue, which isn't even all that bad. I mean right from the first lightsaber battle you see in the prequels, it's clear the team and the actors put a LOT of work into it.
Christian Santana his best scene is in star wars the clone wars mother talzin said my magics are nothing on the force and windu said and magic is only an illusion
Patrik Adolfsson the only siths in the death star is palpatine and vader or mostly its only vader because palpatine just came in the second death star for just his first time so its only vader so why did you say siths its only vader bro the troopers arent sith and imperial officers are no sith sith is like a jedi in the dark side are you a dumbass in star wars
I don’t know why, but there’s something incredibly aesthetically pleasing about the lightsaber choreography in these movies, especially whenever a Jedi twirls the blade. :)
he had a stalemate w/ Palp who ultimately ran away not to mention Mace is still 2nd to yoda; what the grandmaster lacks in sword play (which isn't much) he makes up for in super force connectivity
I like the character Mace Windu. He's one of most skilled Jedi, can destroy droids with his bare hands, and has his own style. Samuel L. Jackson portrayed him pretty good.
Jackson asking why there isn't a purple lightsaber after George explains that the good guys have blue and green and the bad guys have red and that's just the way it is, and George just decides on the spot that he can have a purple lightsaber and Jackson smiles is the best part of these "making of" videos. It also reveals George's thought process behind the aesthetics of the prequel trilogy: there isn't much. It's like the part when someone asks what color Yoda's blood is, and he just pauses for a second and says, "Um.. Green."
I love watching all these prequel behind the scenes videos, but the highlight in all of them for me is whenever Ewan interacts with George. They have such a funny friendship
I'm kind of confused by him calling it the golden age because years later a lot of people interpret the prequel timeline as the period where the jedi were at their most incompetent and disconnected to the force. I guess the canon sort of changes over time.
it makes me angry how prequels created so many awesome fight scenes and to think about the new trilogy there was like 2 decent fight scenes from it ? That is not enough at all. So huge potential lost in the new trilogy so far.
Renhorable the prequels had more big scale wars. It's very known the clone wars were the most gigantic scale war in sw history, and that shows, so you won't have the same thing in the sequels, specially now that there are like 20 resistant guys left and a damaged first order.
yeah but still they have huge potential of creating amazing duels especially with Phasma that fight was so lame I thought it would be something like Obi-wan vs Grievous but noo she will die in a few seconds. They also could do a duel with Luke vs Kylo but noo we will do some force projection instead. And I can go on. I mean I kinda expected that the episode 7 was just a preperation for something huge that will happen in episode 8 but it turned out I was wrong and nothing really happened. I hope J.J Abrams will save at least the last episode but I very doubt it
Renhorable about the fighting style I can agree, but about luke I think they did a good job. Were you waiting to see Luke from the EU wrecking atat's with one crips of his fingers? That's the very idea this movie is agaisnt for, and luke sums it perfectly: people divinize the jedi, but on our ego we let bad things happened in the past. If they did what you say, there would be the jedi not learning about the past. Luke says: im not a legend, but he becomed into one when force projecting himself. Somehow this was known in the galaxy and luke turned into a symbol of hope, he turned into the legend he said he wasnt, and this is what will set the reborn of the lightside for episode 9. He did more being like that, that just being a prequel yoda. You can dislike this, but Im very glad they went into this way. As george lucas said: star wars is not about big scales wars, is about family and love. Luke transmited love in that scene, and hope. The prequels were like they were because we needed to see how the jedi were like back then, and as much as we liked to see them kicking ass and being arrogant, we know how that turned out for the galaxy.
the things is that even if you compare this to an OT the new episodes feel so small. I mean they did not achieved the sense of how the main heroes actually changing the course of a galaxy everything felt more like a local conflict than anything. It was more like watching a one part of a series than a SW movie and that is a shame
The OG trilogy and Sequel trilogy are after the golden age of the Jedi as well as after the golden age of the sith, so there's not going to be as many lightsaber fights.
I totally remember watching these on the star wars website as they were released like weekly? or monthly? in the run up to the release of the movie, i was in sixth grade!
I have the perfect lore explanation as to why Mace's lightsaber being purple; he has to tap in the dark side in order to use his saber style which enabled him to smoke Palpatine, therefore his Kyber crystal reflects that style.
The Jango shot at 0:12 was never used. I heard that there was a much cooler fight between Jango and Mace that was unfortunately cut. This must’ve been a part of it. Hopefully we’ll see all of the bonus cut footage from the Prequels someday. Apparently, there’s hours and hours of it.
God bless Samuel L Jackson for opening the door to a full spectrum of lightsaber blade colors.
+Stephen Schreiber All the EU has him to thank, lol.
+The Door To Light No..there were many colors before him. Look it up
+Zack Ieropoli he means in the movies
So that's how he got purple
+The Door To Light Yes! Because of him, we have jedi prospects!
"you might get purple" - *yay*
The real answer is because he wanted to see himself easily during his big scene in the movie. (arena)
I like how he says "there's no purple lightsaber?" and George responds with "you might get purple" and he does!
and he asked for a purple lightsaber and thats how purple lightsabers were created lol thank you sam
3:21 Holy crap we have the famous moment of Samuel L. Jackson asking George Lucas for a Purple lightsaber on TAPE.
Wooooo
I think it was staged, but if it wasn't, that would be cool as hell.
I strongly suspect this is a recreation for the cameras. I doubt this is THE moment.
I think it's real. Look at George's face - looks pretty genuine
You realize they staged that for the video right?
0:24 Samuel l Jackson talking about Star Wars while wearing a World wrestling federation jacket is one of the greatest things I've ever seen
It was also cool to see each of the seven lightsaber fighting styles being used.
its jedi in their prime vs one old jedi and a jedi in training
To be honest I think the only valid complaint about the prequels would be the dialogue, which isn't even all that bad. I mean right from the first lightsaber battle you see in the prequels, it's clear the team and the actors put a LOT of work into it.
Jackson should have said "Waste the mother F@ckers!" and then all the Jedi come into the arena.
YES! THAT'S FOR THE SPECIAL EDITION! XD
+Sean White I feel like the only good Samuel L Jackson Moment we got was "This party's over"
+Sean White I feel like the only good Samuel L Jackson Moment we got was "This party's over"
Christian Santana his best scene is in star wars the clone wars mother talzin said my magics are nothing on the force and windu said and magic is only an illusion
SLJ wanted a purple lightsabre so he could easily pick himself out in fight scenes when he watched the movie.
Monsterist76 and because he's stated several times purple is his favorite color.
Ah yes, my favourite weapon, the legendary "lightsabre"
@@tf2spyclass09 thats just a british lightsaber
This is my Lightsaber. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Without my lightsaber, I am nothing. Without me, my lightsaber is nothing.
Hahah perfect
This is my saber and this is my gun!
This is for war and this is for fun!
I'm tired of these motha fuckin siths on this motha fuckin' Death Star!
It's should be like this
IM TIRED OF THE MOTHA FUCKIN SITHS IN THIS MOTHA FUCKIN REPUBLIC!!!
Ya death Star makes no sense
+UncommonSituations may not make sense but sounds better
+UncommonSituations he "survived" the fall so he could be in force awakens as a super old man IF they didnt make the comics none canon
And here comes disney, taking away that art
Sam is so cool and classy he did an amazing performance as Windu ! x)
Ewan is an absolute legend always having the best time
I feel like Windu was the baddest Jedi of all. He had Sidious beaten until Ani came to his rescue. Yoda couldn't even accomplish that!
+Trin Singratanakul mace didnt have giant shit being thrown at hi plus yoda is over 900 years old
+Amir_Vinci Yoda is 900 years old at the time of his death.
Sidious threw the fight
Trin Singratanakul he had vaapad master swordsmen so of course he would win yoda is better with the force but next to palpatine he wouldnt win
he had a stalemate w/ Palp who ultimately ran away not to mention Mace is still 2nd to yoda; what the grandmaster lacks in sword play (which isn't much) he makes up for in super force connectivity
“There is no purple lightsaber?”
“You might get purple...”
George Lucas thinking: damn how did I not think of that...
3:36 I love how the music plays as he gets what he wants
I like the character Mace Windu. He's one of most skilled Jedi, can destroy droids with his bare hands, and has his own style. Samuel L. Jackson portrayed him pretty good.
David C- Vaapad is an awesome dueling style
Yeah, I like that time he used anakin's lightsaber to fight kylo ren and that stormtrooper.
It feels great how the jedi actors were actually fans.
3:34 it's crazy this moment was caught on camera, allowing different colours for the lightsabers was a revolution in starwars universe
I died when Sam said "you cool with that?" to the Yoda puppet

Well because the prequels turned out so good, I have to say your flat out wrong.
I'm tired of these nerfherding sithlords, in this nerfherding galaxy!
Everybody strap in! We're about to break some nerfing windus!
I'm tired of these nerfherding shitlords, in this shitherding galaxy!
my man's really asked for purple and then George made a good backstory to it
2:17 Ewan? Is that you?
Was machst du denn da?
No that's Renton
I love watching all these prequel behind the scenes videos, but the highlight in all of them for me is whenever Ewan interacts with George. They have such a funny friendship
George is such a cool guy
That fight choreography was a genius. Coming up with fighting styles suited to the characters when they had basically no character at all.
Purple is my favorite and the fact that samuel l jackson made it exist only makes me love it more
3:47 Mace Windus character also should’ve worn that purple hat that Sams wearing to match his light saber 🤣
"you might get purple" 0_o
I'm kind of confused by him calling it the golden age because years later a lot of people interpret the prequel timeline as the period where the jedi were at their most incompetent and disconnected to the force. I guess the canon sort of changes over time.
2:20 George Lucas gets splashed by Obi Wan
I loved the fact that Sam was wearing a WWF New York Jacket XD
it makes me angry how prequels created so many awesome fight scenes and to think about the new trilogy there was like 2 decent fight scenes from it ? That is not enough at all. So huge potential lost in the new trilogy so far.

Samuel L. Jackson is such a weeb and that's why we love him
George:you might get purple
Samuel:😃
I have one thing to say: SAMUEL L. JACKSON IS A BADASS!
Even though he had a shitty death, I still think Mace Windu was the coolest cat in the prequels.
2:03: is that the guy who play jar jar binks ?
Yes, that's Ahmed Best. Anthony Daniels, the actor that plays C-3PO is also in that bar scene as a different character.
Xare Ous he didn’t commit suicide, but he did attempt it. He’s still alive and well today and enjoying his life.
E R A S E D yo don’t spread misinformation like that man
@E R A S E D U a bitch
Don’t believe E R A S E D it not true
Yes, it's from the bonus disc that came with the DVD release.
I really hope all these PT DVDS content gets upgrade! Best behind the scenes, for any movie, I've EVER seen!
feels like yesterday wtf people .. life goes by so fast, i just turned 46 i’m crying everyday now
Best of the Star Wars movies
Just think. If it wasn’t for Sam Jackson, we probably would be stuck with Blue, Green and Red only lightsabers :)
So in simple terms, red is the way to the dark side, blue is for the learner, and green is the way to the light.
Sam is wearing a WWF Universe jacket. Life is strange.
Life is strange.
I totally remember watching these on the star wars website as they were released like weekly? or monthly? in the run up to the release of the movie, i was in sixth grade!
I remember that too. It was weekly I think.
Sam reppin WWF New York!!!
What a nice little laugh :D 2:20
WWF New York. Wow. I wonder if that was a parting gift from when he visited Raw to promote Shaft.
Damn mace window looks epic 😎
1:11 Wonder if Ewan got to keep that lightsaber hilt as he picked that design himself during Episode I.
I have the perfect lore explanation as to why Mace's lightsaber being purple; he has to tap in the dark side in order to use his saber style which enabled him to smoke Palpatine, therefore his Kyber crystal reflects that style.
Wrong, dumbass. It's cuz his power is a combo of the light side and dark side of the force.
I have a perfect explanation!!! His actor wanted purple. That's it!!!
Of Course He Got A Purple Light Saber, HE’S SAMUEL. L JACKSON!!!!! Who Could Say No To The Man.
All it took was George to be cornered by two black guys "only blue green and red" "what you say MF" " you can have purple"
At 0:18 it sounds like Sam said "I watch these fucking films all my life" lol.....also that is cool he is rockin with the WWF New York Jacket.
Mace Windu:does he looks like a SITH!?!?
Itamar Shacked i see what you did there
Mace Windu straight up BODIED Jango Fet
You... you might get purple.
XD that george
Samuel L. Jackson is just so freaking amazing. Always.
yea and lol when he smiled about it :D
When you read all the stories, books, lore of the colors of the saber and the crystals... and it was Samuel Jackson asking for a purple one
That's GAS!
“Okay, you cool with that” Samuel Jackson talking to yoda 😂
Nice to see Samuel L Jackson rocking a WWF New York T-shirt
A lot of work for a great movie !
Madness? ... THIS.. IS.. SPARTA!!
Madness, THIS IS STARWARS!!!!!!
Ewan looks like he just stepped off the nebuchadnezzar
One day I'll make something like this, one day...
So dope to see Samuel L Jackson rocking WWF merch
After all, Officer Tenpenny is really a member of the Ballas. That's why he asked for a purple saber.
3:37 that smile
im not ashamed of being a star wars geek, im ashamed people don't admire it
George lucas: you might get purple
Sam L Jackson: My nigga
Hayden: yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh. Gimme the sword.
Imagine if pac ended up playing mace windu 😂
"Maiden swordplay... poke...poke..."
Are you using the force? No no, that's his own things. It's gas.
Anakin is the Chosen of the Force!
Samuel L. Jackson is wearing a WWF New York jacket.
3:33 el morado es lo mejor 👌
3:05 Bless you
Not anymore, George! Now the High Republic is the golden age!
correct me if I’m wrong but does sam’s lightsaber hilt have blue screen on it 😅
2:21- Ewan splashes on George Lucas. LOL 😂
The 8th lightsaber form: Sam Jackson Style
Do you get this from the bonus materials?
I just noticed he has a WWF new york shirt XD
THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!
mace windu looked like he was going to the beach
I know i know... Thanks...
Samuel L Jackson wearing a WWf new york coat on the set of A Star Wars movie.... I think I've seen it all now.
Straight the fuck up brotha
yeah
Samuel L Jackson supporting WWF New York lol
I mean my fighting style is agressive.... but i am not angry!
True! Something that also annoys me.
Samuel L Jackson had style man
That is on tasty burger
